I know Stormfur was a "riverclan main series protagonist" but he was in one book, not the entire arc. He was more like a bonus character than any sort of actual main series protagonist and largely I see him more as a tribe cat than a Riverclan cat. He just didn't get enough screentime to meet any sort of threshold in my mind.
I'm so excited, my favorite clan has always been Riverclan!! Recently I've been imagining them with British accents, it just fits them I think! Which also brings up the question of what the other clans' accents are, so I've headcanoned that thunderclan has a southern accent, shadowclan a Russian accent, and windclan is Scottish lol

Maybe the fact that Jayfeather, Lionblaze, Squirrelflight, Bristlefrost, Ivypool, Dovewing, and the other main characters of Firestars descent is WHY Flamepaw feels pressured. Most of his bloodline has done something powerful and great. We’ve seen cats like Alderheart be more paranoid then their littermates, so maybe that’s it?
Honestly, I'm not a fan of Sunbeam's name. It'd be fine as an outsider name, but it just sounds weird as a warrior name. Sunlight feels more warriors-y, but it's not much better. Sunface, Sundapple, or Sunstorm would probably be nice. I'd also prefer the inoffensive Sunheart, but -heart gets a lot of usages for stupid reasons (looking at you, Lilyheart). Even Sunsight would be better, although our last protagonist had that name...

A few weeks ago I was like “Wow, Sunbeam sure is a pretty name! I wish there was some alternate universe where she was a protagonist!” And then A Starless Clan was announced and I lost my mind.
I guess maybe the artist looked at all the references to Bluestar's thick fur and thought it meant long? Not saying it's right, I have a cat with thick but short fur, but maybe that's what happened.

Flamepaw struggling under firestar's legacy actually makes sense, because similar to sparkpelt, he is named after firestar, and is going to be expected to be as good as firestar, just like how Sparkpelt was.

Like, making him pure black could visually show how he feels like he’s isolated and not measuring up to the rest of his highlighter orange kin, who have all done great things, some at a really young age. Is it intentional? Probably not, but that’s how I’m personally choosing to interpret this most likely arbitrary design choice.

My guess with Shadowsight, is he leaves ShadowClan, joins RiverClan, trains Frostpaw, and Mothwing stays in ShadowClan, and Puddleshine retires. And I also thought it was obvious that Flamepaw is feeling pressured BECAUSE of who his relatives are-look at Squilf, look at Leafpool, heck even Sparkpelt is cool and popular within the clan, Dovewing and Ivypool were part of a prophecy (Ivy just kinda shoved herself into the prophecy lol), Lionblaze, Jayfeather were heroes AND part of a prophecy, and Alderheart is one of the best medicine cats ThunderClan has ever seen, and then there's Firestar himself. With all of that lineage before him I can understand Flamepaw being a little pressured to do great things.
It’s kinda ironic though because technically he’s also Tigerstar’s great grandson, so really all the kits born from Squilf & Bramblestar down pretty much feel a ton of pressure from being related to so many cats whose names will most likely be well known for seasons to come.

Frostpaw, now being mentor-less, goes to other clans so they can teach her about StarClan. But she is refused, causing RiverClan to turn from StarClan.

I wouldn't like the idea of an all female lead, that wouldn't feel right. We need the balance, plus Warrior cats isnt a book for girls their are plenty of boys that read and would like role models (even if they are mythical cats)
I'm guessing Frostpaw is going to be trained to not "need" starclan (I kinda like the idea) esp since Mothwing let Willowshine still be close to starclan and got killed trying to help them. I can see her putting the blame there. I'm really excited for that perspective. tho I'm expecting the 'needed sooner than expected' or whatnot is gonna be Mothwing and Mistystar passing away about the same time or something and shes like idk how do talk to starclan? I really hope the "starless Clan" arc thing has Mistystar losing her last life and the current deputy is unable to obtain their nine lives. Frostpaw having an adventure (with Sunbeam and Flamepaw tagging along) to find a new source to communicate with StarClan while Mistystar ironically is still there, in ghost form, using her pull from StarClan to guide the main 3.

I'm beginning to wonder if 'The Broken Code' not only refers to the code breaking punishment storyline of the start of the series but also to do with changing the code= breaking the code, as in breaking it down and making a new one that works better for the modern clans as they now stand.

You know what would be cool for a protagonist? A people pleaser. Honestly, it would be really cool to see Flamepaw be a people pleaser and a suck up. Lemme explain what I would really like in a series that has a bunch of buff boring old cats. I’d like to imagine he wants to be important alongside his (non background character) relatives. So he would constantly try his hardest to please everyone, because, don’t you want a lovable, perfect friend/hero? I can imagine this backfires and leads to him having a huge lash out or mental breakdown because everyone is kinda annoyed that he is always trying to please. I’d also like to think this is where a love interest would come in, helping him and comforting him. (It’s warriors, he’s a male protagonist and not a med cat he is gonna have a love interest. Actually this could work with the Firestar descendant issue too bc one of the reasons he was so well received was BECAUSE of how kind and helpful he was to the clan, so Flamepaw trying to follow in his ancestors footsteps of being kind to a fault could work p nicely
Yeah that could be really cool, and it would be cooler if the cat that was his mate was not relayed to fire star and was like a descendant of a long lost warrior ( not hollyleaf cuz she related) But like a long lost descendant of Stormfur or something idk And this cat is a female and she comes to the clans and like stays in an abandoned badger set or something and then after Flame paw has his breakdown he goes to the forest and she’s hunting idk then they talk and she helps him and stuff but then the clan finds out so he runs away, then he gets a prophecy from starclan and has to return, the other two cats, frost paw and sun beam, get it too, he comes back to the clan and they let him return, he returns with his mate only to find out she is expecting his kits, Then sadly he finds out he must leave cause of the prophecy with the other two and they go on a journey to do something ( I haven’t figured that out, this whole thing is probably horrible anyways lol, I’m not very creative sorry) then they return after doing that thing the clans are happy they are back, Flame paw gets his warrior name, but he finds out the clan cats didn’t like his mate cause they didn’t know that she was a descendant of Stormfur, so then they create another series called something like actually idk , anyways the other series is about Flame ( something cause idk his warrior name) searching everywhere trying to find his lost mate but ends up finding another clan that is the same as the four, or five, or six clans but they have no ancestors and idk what happened next I’m not creative as I said This entire thing is probably horrible and ya it’s bad I’m sorry

I was genuinely surprised one of our main characters wasn’t a Bristleroot kit. Seriously- Arc 2: Squilf and Leafpool are daughters of our old main protag, Firestar Arc 3: Jayfeather, Hollyleaf, and Lionblaze are the adopted children of Squilf and the biological children of Leafpool Arc 4: Idk Dovewing and Ivypool are related to Jay and Lion who are still protags- Arc 5: Alderheart is the child of Squilf, a past protag Arc 6: Bristlefrost is Ivypool’s kit, Rootspring is Violetshine’s kit, and Shadowsight is Dovewing’s kit. See the connection? In pretty much every arc, some of, if not all of, our main protags are related to the previous ones. I was honestly expecting a Bristleroot-kit protag. And to be honest, I’m glad we DIDN’T get that. This arc is (hopefully) going to break a lot of the norms for Warriors, and maybe will even restore my faith in the series. (I’m not liking the current arc, to be honest.)
I don’t care what the series ends up being about, I don’t care that I am over an arc behind, And I don’t even care that I just accidentally found out in this video that one of my favourite characters died. All I care about is that we finally, finally get A river clan perspective. I can’t wait!
You know what would be cool? I main character villain! Maybe, Flamepaw feels so pressured to be a good cat like Firestar that he ends up hating Firestar and becoming the exact opposite of him. Sunbeam and Frostpaw would have to stop him! Then every other cat would be like “how could you?! You’re Firestar’s kin!” which would make him more angry. It would be a nice break from the “all protagonists are lawfully good” thing that’s going on. (Hollyleaf, Ivypool and half clan love interests are the only times MCs in Warriors aren’t perfect and good, and all can be forgiven since the Warrior Code is dumb, Ivypool was a spy, and Ashfur deserved to die). It would be cool to see how Warriors would handle a good to bad arc (I forget if something like that has been done before on a “main bad guy” level but I don’t think so).
7:07 I actually did the math on the ratio of male:female warrior cat protagonists from all the books and it's actually an 8:7 ratio for guys and gals (though it'll need updating now that we know the protags for a starless clan...)
they need to reveal that Mistystar has been consuming the spirit of Starclan this whole time and that's how she's survived so long and why they have lost their connection

It took me 2 years to come to broken code, and I just started reading lost stars, didn't finish Hawking's journey or Tigerstar's shadow yet, so good luck, it will take you HOURS
Don't worry- you don't need to read half of the super editions and novellas. And honestly, If you don't want to fall asleep reading just read a recap of the whole second arc.
I was so rooting for Rootsight! I mean I knew they werent gonna do it, but it would have been a higher degree of Code Breaking (Cross-Clan AND Medicine Cat having a Mate) and they had more interaction/chemistry than Rootbristle. Also they would have had a way easier time meeting, because Shadowsight can just ignore the border usually
And just imagine Shadowsight having to sneak out without alerting his helicopter-parents to hang out with his BF nobody can know about. Damn, that would have given Puddleshine an even better reason to demote him. And maybe Mothflight could have been bitchy because she never had the courage to ask out Leafpool, who is now dead
To be honest, I love that the Erins are branching out into other clans, it gives you a good idea of how the other clans run which is helpful to understand the full narrative
Wouldn't it be sorta cool if a cat from inside the clan that wasn't good got a POV? A bad-ish cat that gets to be one of the main characters! And they are conflicted about their choices.

Ideas for main protag personalities! Flamepaw: since it said he was struggling with Firestar's legacy, how about making him nothing like Firestar at all! Maybe make him a rebellious or klutzy scatterbrained cat. Sunbeam: not much to work with here, but we can easily make her interesting with a good personality! Make her depressed or the Clan's crazy lady. Frostpaw: unlike the other two, we have get a bit of an idea of what her personality is. Make her a cat who is always spacing out. Possibly a hopeless romantic? Or make her clever and resourceful.

I’m pretty upset they didn’t skip a few generations with only like, one leader from the original group around, or even better, slap on the other deputies or a random warrior to be leader, have a soft reset.
I kinda wanna see what would happen if two leaders kinda had a "forbidden" relationship. Like, how would they handle it? How would the clans react? If the leaders word is law, can any punishment happen? What if they decided to combine clans??? I just think it's an interesting and neat idea :)
i agree with the in-clan politics stuff, i miss having cats like tigerclaw and darkstripe scheming because they have their own motivations, not because of some outsider like sol or darktail. i feel like if there was a windclan protagonist we could see that happening if crowfeather became crowstar, and breezepelt somehow got back some of his angstyness? it would be interesting to see that happening from another clans point of view too, but yeah!

My guess with Shadowsight, is he leaves ShadowClan, joins RiverClan, trains Frostpaw, and Mothwing stays in ShadowClan, and Puddleshine retires. And I also thought it was obvious that Flamepaw is feeling pressured BECAUSE of who his relatives are-look at Squilf, look at Leafpool, heck even Sparkpelt is cool and popular within the clan, Dovewing and Ivypool were part of a prophecy (Ivy just kinda shoved herself into the prophecy lol), Lionblaze, Jayfeather were heroes AND part of a prophecy, and Alderheart is one of the best medicine cats ThunderClan has ever seen, and then there's Firestar himself. With all of that lineage before him I can understand Flamepaw being a little pressured to do great things.
It’s kinda ironic though because technically he’s also Tigerstar’s great grandson, so really all the kits born from Squilf & Bramblestar down pretty much feel a ton of pressure from being related to so many cats whose names will most likely be well known for seasons to come.

Lemme explain what I would really like in a series that has a bunch of buff boring old cats.
I’d like to imagine he wants to be important alongside his (non background character) relatives. So he would constantly try his hardest to please everyone, because, don’t you want a lovable, perfect friend/hero? I can imagine this backfires and leads to him having a huge lash out or mental breakdown because everyone is kinda annoyed that he is always trying to please. I’d also like to think this is where a love interest would come in, helping him and comforting him. (It’s warriors, he’s a male protagonist and not a med cat he is gonna have a love interest. Also yes gay why can’t we have that for once.)

Then sadly he finds out he must leave cause of the prophecy with the other two and they go on a journey to do something ( I haven’t figured that out, this whole thing is probably horrible anyways lol, I’m not very creative sorry) then they return after doing that thing the clans are happy they are back, Flame paw gets his warrior name, but he finds out the clan cats didn’t like his mate cause they didn’t know that she was a descendant of Stormfur, so then they create another series called something like actually idk , anyways the other series is about Flame ( something cause idk his warrior name) searching everywhere trying to find his lost mate but ends up finding another clan that is the same as the four, or five, or six clans but they have no ancestors and idk what happened next I’m not creative as I said

Arc 2: Squilf and Leafpool are daughters of our old main protag, Firestar
Arc 3: Jayfeather, Hollyleaf, and Lionblaze are the adopted children of Squilf and the biological children of Leafpool
Arc 4: Idk Dovewing and Ivypool are related to Jay and Lion who are still protags-
Arc 5: Alderheart is the child of Squilf, a past protag
Arc 6: Bristlefrost is Ivypool’s kit, Rootspring is Violetshine’s kit, and Shadowsight is Dovewing’s kit.
See the connection? In pretty much every arc, some of, if not all of, our main protags are related to the previous ones. I was honestly expecting a Bristleroot-kit protag. And to be honest, I’m glad we DIDN’T get that. This arc is (hopefully) going to break a lot of the norms for Warriors, and maybe will even restore my faith in the series. (I’m not liking the current arc, to be honest.)
I was surprised that none of them were spotfurs kits, although I doubt this will be the last arc...

You know what would be cool? I main character villain! Maybe, Flamepaw feels so pressured to be a good cat like Firestar that he ends up hating Firestar and becoming the exact opposite of him. Sunbeam and Frostpaw would have to stop him! Then every other cat would be like “how could you?! You’re Firestar’s kin!” which would make him more angry. It would be a nice break from the “all protagonists are lawfully good” thing that’s going on. (Hollyleaf, Ivypool and half clan love interests are the only times MCs in Warriors aren’t perfect and good, and all can be forgiven since the Warrior Code is dumb, Ivypool was a spy, and Ashfur deserved to die). It would be cool to see how Warriors would handle a good to bad arc (I forget if something like that has been done before on a “main bad guy” level but I don’t think so).
Clear Sky. Though his personality was unstable. He was "redeemed" in the end of the arc, only to relapse to his pre-clan state in Mothflight's Vision

Flamepaw: since it said he was struggling with Firestar's legacy, how about making him nothing like Firestar at all! Maybe make him a rebellious or klutzy scatterbrained cat.
Sunbeam: not much to work with here, but we can easily make her interesting with a good personality! Make her depressed or the Clan's crazy lady.
Frostpaw: unlike the other two, we have get a bit of an idea of what her personality is. Make her a cat who is always spacing out. Possibly a hopeless romantic? Or make her clever and resourceful.

I’m pretty upset they didn’t skip a few generations with only like, one leader from the original group around, or even better, slap on the other deputies or a random warrior to be leader, have a soft reset.

I kinda wanna see what would happen if two leaders kinda had a "forbidden" relationship. Like, how would they handle it? How would the clans react? If the leaders word is law, can any punishment happen? What if they decided to combine clans??? I just think it's an interesting and neat idea :)

i agree with the in-clan politics stuff, i miss having cats like tigerclaw and darkstripe scheming because they have their own motivations, not because of some outsider like sol or darktail. i feel like if there was a windclan protagonist we could see that happening if crowfeather became crowstar, and breezepelt somehow got back some of his angstyness? it would be interesting to see that happening from another clans point of view too, but yeah!
