Pegasus Turbo 2 vs. Turbo 1 vs. Gyakusou Turbo

- Today, I take the Pegasus Turbo 2 for a first run, 10 miles along the lakefront in Chicago. The Turbo was a shoe that I instantly fell in love with last year, although it wasn't without its share of freshman quirks. As fast as it felt, the toe box was just too small. I later picked up the Gyakusou Turbo in the winter, and while the midsole and outsole were the "same," the ride was completely different. That shoe also had its share of fit issues, and I can't really run long distances in it. And now, we have the Turbo 2, which from photos appeared to look like a very boring non-update to the Turbo 1. But I am happy to report that I was very wrong.
The zoom x in the turbo 2 seems to be more akin to the zoom x foam in the Vaporfly Next than it is like the Vaporfly 4% or prior versions of the Turbo. There's a bounce to it that reminds me of Phylon.
The upper in the Turbo 2 is also greatly improved. So while it looks boring, it fits better in the heel, the toe box issues from Turbo 1 are gone and the overlay and tongue issues from the Gyakusou Turbo have been resolved. Its the best fitting and best feeling Turbo yet.
And somehow, it seems to feel un-Turbo-like. I'm not sure how to explain it. And maybe I'm imagining it. I've only had 10 miles in the shoe, so the investigation continues. Stay tuned for the 100 mile review.

202 likes and ZERO dislikes. That pretty much sums up the quality of your channel, Mike. And congrats on hitting the 20k subscribers mark. Many more milestones to come.
The grumpy squad will come soon and add their thumbs down. I'd be disappointed if they didn't.
I don’t think RUclips shows thumbs down numbers anymore. But even if they did it’d likely be zero!

Your not imagining it. It’s definitely slightly different. Even the Zoom x in the Gyakusou 4% felt different than the previous 4%.
Maybe a slightly different formula?! Maybe we will never know. 😂
Haha a video invader at the end! 😂
She tried to make a couple of cameos today
Long overdue new subscriber. Whenever I'm looking for shoe comparisons your videos always pop up. Appreciate the consistently high quality videos.
thanks so much for watching!
Hi friend, does version 2 improve stability? the sole and the midsole is the same as the previous version? I explain I am a pronator and using orthopedic insole I deformed the shoe version 1.Thanks
I would say that your experience would be analogous
Got a pair this week. I wished the tongue was stitched to the upper. The lace pattern is unorthodox. Also, the heel is lifting a tad.
Got 600 + miles out of ver 1.
I never really tend to notice lacing. From the crazy offset lacing of the Vaporfly next, the quick lace system in the gyakusou turbo, or the extra lacing eyelets of the adios 4, it all just kind of feels the same to me
@@kofuzi Also, I agree it is a little different from ver 1.
Ver 1 was definitely more plush. I can feel it. Ver 2 is more planted but not as plush.
so after running in them, would you still choose version 2 over 1? (neglect price)
@@arthur5771 It’s hard to say. I have over 600 miles in ver 1. LOL
Only 20 in ver 2. But my initial take on ver 2 is that it’s definitely firmer. Someone said mushy for ver 1. Yeah I would say softer or plush. For me, I thought it was too soft.
THat’s why Vaporfly 4% is the GOAT. It’s plush but planted. When you land the ankle doesn’t move.
I say about 100 miles or so. I can say if I like it or not.
You kind of adapt to the shoes when you run in them over 600 miles. hahaha
@@KennyPang won't they get hard or no longer supportive after such a long distance
I get that hotspot in my epic reacts as well, right under the midfoot!
I've had it happen in Epic React and zoom fly Flyknit
@@kofuzi what shoe do you recommend that dosent cause that?
Great review as always! Looking for a faster days shoe to pair with Peg 36. Would you say Turbo 2, Streak 7, or Boston 8?
Depending on how long your faster days are, streak 7 could be a great choice. But I don't know that I'd want to run anything longer than 8 or 10 miles in it.
Good reviews man - Pegasus shoes in any model is good!
Thanks so much!
Bro I was thinking how high quality the video was... and then I saw you only have 24k subs. Hope you grow!
thanks so much!
Thanks for the opinions! My first 2 or 3 runs in the Turbo 1's left me very dissapointed but after that they've been an absolute dream, I've got about 70 miles in them at the moment and as it stands will definitely be getting another pair
A lot of great deals to be had for v1
Same here. I didn't like them but the more I ran the better they became. I got about 600 miles out of them but I should have changed after around 500 but great shoe
I just ordered the Turbo 2. I am on my third pair of version 1 and am finding that they are going flat in the midsole around 700K for me, really noticeable. Still love the shoe and they are my go to trainers. Hopefully the 2's are similar enough to the 1's. I really am not too sold on this colour though...
that's a lot of miles on your turbo!
I found your channel July last year when I was looking for reviews over the peg turbo 1 and bought a pair the same day cuz of your videos over it.
I hope you liked it!
Completely agree with the evolution of the Zoom X material. I have a brand new pairs of Turbo 1s, and to the touch they are softer (only the Zoom X material) than V2. I have been told that I am incorrect already though; so it’s one of those grain of salt sorta things. Overall a very competent update. I get a more locked in fit, without the mushy feeling of the 1s. Ultimately not my current favorite for long runs as the Carbon X just takes so much wear~n~tear off my legs, but very nice overall. Really want a pair of Boston 8s but I was so lukewarm to the 7s that I wanna hear more about the 8s.
-Chuck
i also wonder if zoom x perhaps changes or ages differently than other materials
Couldn’t wait to hear your thoughts on the Turbo 2. I have been running the Pegasus Turbo for almost a year and that toe scrunch is for real. I notice it on my longer runs( > 7 miles) so I’ve stopped running in them for this purpose. I’m currently running on my 2nd pair of Peg 35s for my longer training. I am looking for a shoe with more cush for the longer runs and after watching this review may have to give the Turbo 2 a look but I am also eyeing the Clifton 6 as it is getting great reviews. As always, keep up the great work!
If it's a lsd shoe you're looking for, I'd also recommend taking a look at the Vomero 14. It's like a grand touring version of the Pegasus
I just got a new pair of these Peg Turbo 2's and the upper is quite narrow in the midfoot. I have yet to run in them but they are comfortable for walking and overall a great shoe. I can't wait to see how things turn out during track conditioning.
Hope you enjoy!
@@kofuzi thank you!
Thank you for posting Brother, going to buy a pair on the 17th of this month 👍🏻😊
what happens on the 17th?
kofuzi a deadline, still cannot make up my mind on a shoe to buy. Choosing from Nike Pegasus Turbo 2 or Altra ESCALANTE RACER '19 Boston version 😊
Great video! 👍👍 I am looking forward to the Zoomfly 3.
me too
Have fun in the Hawkeye state. Only thing I would change is connecting the tongue all the way up. The rebound also feels slightly less poppy after 8-10 miles. I am real torn on going back to the turbo 1s
I liked the way v1 felt underfoot
Can't wait for your 100 mike review of this. Your video is right along my run route can't wait to see you out on the waterfront one day. I'm so conflicted between this shoe and the Boston 8 for my first marathon.
In the summer, I'm usually out there around sunrise. Hope to see you soon!
Another awesome video. Thanks for uploading. I have the turbo v1, which I’m mostly happy with, but after watching your video, I’m really curious to try this one!
Thanks for watching!
I just logged 30 miles in 2 runs with my new pair of Pegasus Turbo 2. I have been running with Saucony Kinvara 9’s. I love both. I do like the PT2’s for the longer runs. I do not mind the tongue. There are holes in the tongue to put the laces through if you want to.
Did the test. I feel the Turbo2 offer a lighter/airy and faster feel. Upper seems more breathable also. The Turbo1 offered a more plush and comfortable ride though.
can you tell me about the test?
@@kofuzi, pretty much a comparison on Turbo1 vs Turbo2. Turbo2 feels lighter/faster on the foot, to me anyway. I feel the Gen 1 was overall more comfortable/plush to run in. I bought the Gen 1 as soon as they came out in 2018.
Nike rep told me no complaints regarding shallowness of toe box. When I told him I had seem reports of it on the net, he said those were not authorized by Nike. I have the Turbo, and despite a narrow foot, it is shallow for me vertically.
I'm not sure what you mean by unauthorized reports by Nike
@@kofuzi This was online chat. What he doing was basically dismissing these other web site reviews because they did not come from Nike!
Just did my first run in the turbo 2's. I found them to be a pretty cool running shoe. I did eight miles in near hundred degree weather and found them to breath great. No problems but I would recommend lacing the shoes so the tongue in connected. They have a couple spots on the side of the tongue to keep them from sliding.
Those are some hot miles!
Love the quality of your video and very inspiring....
Keep up the great videos! Running has been going well. Going to start structuring mileage this next week! Also picked up 2 pairs of those Exoficio's you recommended and a pair of the nike vapor fly flyknits with some superfeet insoles!
i hope you enjoy the ex oficio!
Спасибо тебе за труд !)
Great review. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
I tried these on today . They feel amazing ! I had a big issue though .. the heel cup didn't hold my foot down, it moved up and down. I ended up getting the 1080v10
I know what you mean. For some, it’s a deal breaker. For others, it’s noticeable but not an issue when running
Chicago is absolutely beautiful
A great place for running
Can’t really contribute on the Turbo 2 snappyness (besides heavily missing the bowling shoe vibe) ... yet! But concerning the Gyakasou differences: I remember a YT Video where somebody spent a visit to the adidas research facilities in Germany. One engineer working on the foam material was asked wether an entirely blacked out version of boost would ever be possible. He answered that this would easily be possible but he stressed that mixing coloring particles into the foam material would alter the material’s properties most probably resulting in a different experience they might not quite intend. I guess this could be one component to your observation of the Gykasou‘s performance
I don't have the shoes in front of me to verify, but I believe the zoom x of the gyakusou is a painted veneer, much like "black" boost
But that is an interesting observation
Looking forward of zoom fly 3 video,it seems heavier than zoom fly 1, it looks duality increase of the sole design and zoom fly Flyknit was not suitable for me ,their Flyknit surface restrict my foot when I finish few miles ,it would make me feel pain
i look forward to getting that shoe
Easter egg at the end of the video! Super like your video! It makes me wanna run Chicago one day, I saw a goose, a lot of art work, beautiful scenery, and the lake side make me super wanna run at Chicago. Great video review as always, agree with u on the Pegasus Turbo toe box, especially the middle turbo line. I feel your Zoom Fly 3 video is coming, will it? And still waiting for your next vaporfly next% updates, and with that said, stay in school, don’t do drugs, and if u can, keep it tight 🤣
zoom fly 3 is not yet released where i am, as far as i know
Excellent video! For moderate-paced runs up to 10 km/6 mi, would you suggest buying the Turbo v1 or the Turbo 2?
I prefer the 2
@@kofuzi Thanks for the advice. The price difference isn't really an issue for me.
Yes i totally agree! I have a 4% flyknit the turbo 1 in 3 cws and now just got the turbo 2 and next %. I didnt run in the next% but the zoom x already looks different i also feel like the Zoom X on the turbo 2 looks different. I love both turbo versions though for most of my trainings and getting used to them makes me feel the normal pegasus is way to heavy.
it also makes me wonder whether zoom air's days are numbered
Love the green!
I liked the color in the Vaporfly next. Having two in my closet this color feels like a bit much.
Love your videos especially since I live and run in the Chicago area. After watching your review of the VaporFly 4%, I managed to snag a pair of used ones just to try them out. Loved them enough to buy a new pair. I am still frustrated by GPS issues with the Apple Watch 4. Ran a half marathon this past weekend and Apple showed 13.44 miles. Consistent with the discrepancy I experienced on my training runs versus my Garmin 645.
You're almost always going to see discrepancy at a race. You're weaving in and out of people and not always taking the shortest possible distance.
I thought about double tapping the screen at each mile marker to start a new segment. Would that work? Would I have to turn off auto lap?
Love the orchestra intro
Thanks!
I can agree with your toe box statement, I noticed the difference after getting the Peg 36, at such time I had the Peg Turbo 1. Hopefully I will get the Peg Turbo 2's when they change the color of the shoe.
i think a lot of people are waiting for new colors
@@kofuzi i prefer dark colors because I use them to train with the military
I have quite wide feet, and high arches, and the Turbo 1 has one of the best step-in feeling from any shoe I ever wore (only the discontinued Skechers' GoRun last, and Mizuno are better in that regard). Somewher I read that it depends on where the shoe was manufactured. Nike produces the Turbos in China, and Thailand. Apparently the shoes produced in Thailand have the fit issues. I cannot confirm this since both my pairs are from China, but I have fit issues in pretty much any shoe with the exception of the aforementioned, and the Turbos fit like a sock. That aside, the Turbo 1 is my favourite shoe right now, I use it for pretty much anything, easy runs, long runs, workouts, they are a jack of all trades kinda shoe. Looking forward to grabbing a pair of 2s when they are 30 or 50% off.
which color turbo 1 do you have? others have commented that the launch colors of the turbo 1 had fit issues whereas subsequent color releases resolved the issue. but maybe the production location is the true indicator as to which v1 one has.
kofuzi two pairs of the all whites.
You produce quality scenery videos!
Thanks so much!
Have order zoom fly 3? Contemplating between this and zoom fly 3! And how’s the sizing on turbo 2? True to size?
as far as i know, it is not yet available in the us
Good editing skills.
👍☺️
thanks!
Waiting for this to drop in Canada, they look good. Never picked up the og Turbo because of the toebox being too small.
Apparently, that was an issue that was resolved for any v1 releases after nov 2018
I have both v1 and v2, for v2 I have to size down from 9 to 8, the upper of v2 is very thin which is more roomy
I believe there were some sizing issues on v1, which may also contribute to your experience
There is a Turbo Shield coming, I think the MSRP will be $200. The pic is up on the Pegasus Thread on Niketalk. Great Channel!
I will look forward to that
And I will look forward to your review 😎🤘🏻

Turbo Shield is about halfway down that linked page
@kofuzi Thanks for the review. I went to buy the Turbo 2 as my first race shoe but left disappointed. The Pegasus 35 is my favorite shoe and fits my foot perfectly. I really like the lower on the Turbo 2 but the upper didn't work for me at all. It's too loose through the mid foot and when I tried to tighten down the laces, the upper bunched up like a plastic bag.
Did you try turbo 1 then?
kofuzi Not yet. I haven't been able to find a store near me that has them in stock.
I know it's an old video and been wondering ever since I watched your videos, aren't the shoes ruined easily when you are running through shoreline waters during your runs?
Your words made me feel that I am wearing them and running.
Thanks so much!
Maybe its becoz gyakusou was meant for lifestyle, walking around
i always thought that, because jun takahashi is a runner himself, and because this was designed under the gyakusou concept (rather than undercover), that that particular collab was intended for running use.
@kofuzi what’s the name of the music and artist used in the running portion of the review?
I source all my music these days from Epidemic Sound.
Give the NB Fuelcell Rebel a try! I liked it more than the turbos in almost every way!
It may be a shorter distance shoe than what I'm looking for
The Rebel is the first pair of shoes that I’d use the word “hate” to describe.
ptheiss0428 what didn’t you like? The cushioning was great, responsiveness was there, and the upper, although slightly stretchy, locked down my foot really well..
JGvids I loved the upper. That part was a beauty. But the midsole felt dead to me. I felt like I had to work really hard on the run. I also felt a lot of the impact in my shins. I had been really excited to try them! Just not for me, I guess.
ptheiss0428 yeah, some shoes just don’t work out
Great music choice!
Thanks so much!
I need to up my milage so that I can try all these new shoes!
i know, right!
You've been going faster! I'm really happy to see that. The peg turbo 2 is the way to go for me. I'll keep the turbo 1 for slower runs.
I'm curious though.. do your feet and toes get beat up during your runs through the wet conditions you go through? It rained a lot in LA over the last winter and spring and my toes were gnarly. I'm still growing back two toe nails.. maybe tmi
I suppose I won't be doing any foot modeling, but my feet don't seem to be bothered by wet conditions. I always in a running sock, so I think that helps a lot.
Great review as always, and cute kid!
Thanks so much for watching all the way to the end!
Great review! I was wondering if i should get the Turbo1 or the Turbo2, as I usually do shorter jogs, and was thinking if the padding on the T1 would help. (and the T1 is much cheaper). I'd be glad to get your opinion on this.
If you can find one that fits well (after nov 2018?), feet the v1
Love the intro music!
strangely, my normally wide and odd shaped feet that have trouble with many shoes did not experience the toebox shallowness lots of people complained about with the v1s, which were my favorite shoe of 2018. i bought a few more fresh pairs when they were on deep sale not too long ago.
definitely an interesting shoe if not just for the polarizing reactions from runners.
it's confounding at times
Happy new year. I have a question. Is Pegasus Turbo 2 a little bigger(more room) than Pegasus 35 Turbo at the same size?
Always have that weird feel with react foam. I had to stop using the turbo one. The vomero 14 took around fifty miles to break in and no have that burning pain.
react can be amazing and frustrating at the same time, at times
kofuzi agreed I think I’m just going to avoid it considering my track record with it.
The tongue has lacing holes for those that feel the tongue is to lose or moving around to much.
i've never used the extra eyelets on any shoe
Great review. Hope you can get your hands on the Hoka Rincon!
I'm looking at it very closely.
Just one question, why does the 36 and the turbo 2 have to be introduced in puke green? Cant they come up with some nicer color? Just nitpicking. Love the video though, as always
that's the color for the year. it's not my favorite
I love my 35 turbos, but I went TTS and as soon as I get around the 7mile mark, my feet start to get that 'pins and needles" feeling like they're falling asleep, which I assume is due to the upper not having much give at all. Never had that feeling in any other runner before, and on the 35T, I've loosened the laces just about as much as one can without removing them entirely. hopefully this new upper is a better fit.
Yup
Hey Mike, which one do you think best suit for longer runs (20-25km) at easy/moderate pace....Peg 36 or Turbo 2? TIA.
pegasus is a little bit easier to stay at easy pace. but the turbo 2 wouldn't be a bad choice by any means
@@kofuzi thanks....appreciate the input
Kofuzi, I am going to buy the Turbo2 very soon, and have ran in Turbo1 several miles. Do you feel overall the Turbo2 are better performance wise than the Turbo1, or just offer a different experience? Thank you.
the fit is certainly different. i think it's easier to live with, but that may come a bit at the expense of that quickness/snappiness i felt in the turbo 1
I want to know if the Pegasus turbo 2 also have the heel drop of 8 mm like the VF and the ZF.
Do you have the information? I'm trying to find it for a while now.
,Thank you for reading ^^
I don't have that information
I've had the same issue with Nike - the burning ball of the foot, almost to the point of blistering. I've spoken to other runners that love Nike, but experience this same problem.
It only happens to me with React shoes
Great review, complete as always. Love the shorts on the video are they aeroswift 2 in 1? I haven't been able to find them anywhere, saw them once at the Nike in Dallas and after that no sign at all. Tried online but they didn't even know which version were they.
It is the aero Swift 2 in 1. I got them as a gift last year, but I think that was at the end of the product cycle for them even then
Waiting for a new colorway and def gonna give them a try, i got 2 pairs of t1, the BRS colorway is just too beautiful with that reflective battle strap atop the shoe and a red white blue mix
i think some of the coming colors of the turbo 2 are going to be prety exciting
I’m looking for a shoe that has very little or no heel slippage-I have an old Achilles injury and keeping my heel locked in place is really key for me. What Nike shoe would you recommend for medium pace runs? Or is there a shoe from another brand you’d point me to?
Vomero 14. Beacon v1
You gotta try the zoom Fly 3. I was seeded the product early like a week ago and it’s FANTASTIC!!
I would like to see a review on those
Nice
Has anybody experienced heel slipping in these shoes? I had the turbo 1 and got one size larger, did the same with this and I think it was a mistake.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I got serious foot fatigue/pain from the turbo 1’s, which was a shame, because the 1’s fit great, and I loved the spring/pop
sorry to hear that
I went to q store to check these new pairs. It seems like I have to go down 0.5 to 1 full size on this one. The heel feels really loose for me. And the new upper for both Turbo2 and the new Zoom Fly are really ... I don't know, maybe it's just me, kinda weird.
i look forward to trying the zoom fly 3
I agree with the fact that react foam does get hot under foot.
It confuses me, but it happens with some level of regularity in the early miles
I am finding the new tongue design in the Turbo2 to be a bit finicky.
i'll have to keep an eye on that
How is sizing of Turbo 2 vs the Pegasus Turbo 35. I have a size 9 US in the Turbo 35 and also in Zoom Fly Flyknit, but 8.5 US in Zoom Fly 3.
It depends on which turbo v1 you have, apparently and whether you liked how it fit
After about a month of running in the Turbo2, I can't say they are any better than the Turbo1. I like them, but I am experiencing some heel slip w them. Same w the Zoomfly 2019 heel slip issues.
Do you feel the heel slip when running? Or is it just when walking around?
@@kofuzi, slip in heel during running. I would consider going half a size down, but the length of the shoe feels right, it's the width. I feel like there is too much of a gap in the shoes on the sides of my feet, and ankles.
@@kofuzi, I am going to play with the lacing a bit towards the top few eyelets to see if I can get a better, more locked down fit. Another user did that w the Zoomfly 2019 and it reduced the heel slip.
Some people are saying that the Turbo 2 is firmer than the OG Turbo even with the same midsole and outsole... Did you notice a difference?
i did. each of the three turbos i discussed in this video have the "same" midsole and outsole. and they each feel like very different shoes.
can't wait for your 100miles video
Me too. But I have the Boston 8 and the Beacon 2 also vying for my attention at the moment. So it'll be a bit longer than usual.
I bought a pair they arrived today went out for a steady 5k and felt i was running more on the inside of my foot compared to my old running trainers? I wouldnt really say my feet are too wide.
Going to give them another bash tomorrow
i don't feel anything like that, but some have commented in my slow mo footage that it appears like the foam is collapsing medially on my foot strike.
Love your reviews Kofuzi!!...I'm wondering whether to go for the turbo 2 or zoom fly 3. I hope to use it for both my regular runs as well as an upcoming Marathon. I have some concerns in terms of durability which is why I am curious if the turbo2 would be better..
But the VaporWeave is kind of enticing though :)
btw, anyone here knows what's the audio track name that plays at the start of this review...love the music and can't stop listening to it haha... :)
Although there are some people who might think the opposite, I generally prefer the zoom fly for longer faster miles.
Thanks a lot for your detailed inputs and views. Helps a lot, as always! ☺
A couple thoughts-the ZoomX definitely feels different. I have a brand new pair of v1 and v2, and pushing on the ZoomX with my finger yields a different sensation. Maybe Nike is messing with the formulation. Additionally, it’s in the past now, but the first few colorways of Turbo 1 had the crazy shallow toebox...somewhere around November of last year, any new colors seemed to have a much more spacious toebox, height wise. Seems Nike does more tinkering than they let on
Hmm. Is there a way to know which ones don't have the toe box problem then? I guess if you're trying to find a cheap pair, you'd have to know which order the colors were released.
kofuzi Yep, the early grey/hot punch and black had very shallow toeboxes. I bought pairs of the greens and greys later on and both felt so much better from a shallow toebox standpoint. Have had friends have similar experiences-seems Nike made a mid year update on the toebox of the Turbo 1
The one question I have of you is why it seems that the rear of the Turbo 2 shoe sinks to the ground when running or walking. Very soft?
it is a soft shoe
Do you have any plan to review New Balance Fuel Cell Rebel? A lot of runner's youtuber said positive things about it.
I don't. It's a bit of a shorter distance shoe than I think I need.
what's the difference between the turbo 1 and 2 vs. the pegasus turbo 35? i'm confused whether the turbo 2 is the next version of the pegasus turbo 35 or a completely different shoe.
I mean, I tried to spend the majority of this video discussing that. I suppose your question is more rhetorical.
kofuzi I guess I’ve never heard the Pegasus Turbo 35’s referred to as Turbo 1’s. Also I’ve read in other forums that Nike is going to release a Pegasus Turbo 36 in August or early Fall. So that’s why I’m confused.
I am really confused. what is the different by means of performance and durability with pegasus 6 vs pegasus turbo 2? thanks.
The uppers are more similar this year than in the relevant models last year, but the big difference is in the midsoles. Cushlon and zoom air vs. zoom x and React foam.
@@kofuzi Thanks it help me a lot for next shoes for upcoming marathon events.
Hey.
I have the original turbos and their great.

Thx again for the review
Lucas Duys that’s solid but it’s not particularly fast. Keep on improving and remember consistency is key
@@aarondavidson907 thx i will
I think fast is relative. That's not that far off my current 5k PR, but I'm also 3x your age.
Have fun. Find a team to train with. Keep having fun. And the times will naturally improve.
@@kofuzi thank you
Can you say which you'd prefer: the Zoom Fly Flyknit vs Turbo 1 vs Turbo 2 for a half or full marathon?
If your stride is clean and you can keep your form: zoom fly flyknit. If you prefer more direct ground feeling: peg turbo 1
Zoom fly flyknit
To much heel slippage for me and have to tie them snug. I like to wear mine as a casual before workouts etc. and just be able to throw the shoe on and out the door but to loose in the heel and had to tie them. Noticeably more breathable and lighter. They are a no go for me. 6’1” 195lb. High arch.
thanks for sharing!
I start running recently and looking to buy a new shoe. Do you think this shoe good for short runs? 🙏 thank you 😊
it is. but if you're starting out, i'd also look at the pegasus 36 or the epic react.
kofuzi Thank you very much. Getting advice from a pro runner like you really a wonderful thing.
Which better in your opinion for marathon training nike zoomfly flyknit or nike Pegasus turbo 1?
Depends on what else you have in your rotation. I like the Pegasus for short fast days. The zoom fly for long fast days.
nike argues that the Turbo 2 is all zoom x foam on the midsole. Where is the react foam, outsole?
Your presumption is incorrect. Nike does not argue or state that the turbo 2 is all zoom x.
kofuzi I’ve always thought it was half zoom x and half react. On the website there is no mention of react on the midsole. They make it seem as if it’s all zoom x. I contacted support and they told me it’s all zoom x. Is that correct?
Nike have taken over the running shoe world in 2019 spesh with the turbo2s zoom fly3s n next% 💚

@@kofuzi I want to ask which one is best one Nike zoom X turbo or Nike zoom X turbo 2
I recently took delivery of and ran in my new Pegasus Turbo 2's and wanted to make a few comments. First off, I ordered a US 11, the same size I have for the original Turbos. The redesigned collar/heal area of the Turbo 2's are super clean and fresh, however, I originally felt like it didn't lock my heal down like the version 1. By no means to I have a narrow heal, I'd say it's pretty average.
In regard to length, I feel the Turbo 2's felt a little bigger than my original Turbos, causing me to contact Nike and request a 10.5 US. I had exactly one thumbnail length from the tip of my big toe to the end of the shoe in the originals and for the Turbo 2's, I'd say there's a full thumbnail length, plus an eighth of an inch or so more in length. This extra length, coupled with the less-than-secure heal cup, caused me to have to tighten the laces of the Turbo 2's more than I usually do for most sneakers I wear. I never had an issue with the original's "racing stripe," but for aesthetics, I was never a fan of it. I'm appreciative that Nike dropped it and I feel the toe box width is perfect in both shoes - This coming from someone who has a medium to semi-wide forefoot.
I took the US 11 Turbo 2's for a 6.5 mile run and they felt great. My concern about the heal cup/extra lace tightening weren't an issue and even though the Turbo 2's have the exact midsole as the originals, the Turbo 2 midsole almost felt even more responsive than my version 1's, which only have about 60 miles on them. I did feel like the Turbo 2's may be a bit too long, so I'm excited to try on the 10.5 US.
Nike shipped me the men's 10.5 US and after trying them on, I felt like the length of the shoes were great, but the toe box was too tight and/or shallow. My big toe kept "scraping" the top of the shoe, which was annoying walking around my house & possibly problematic out on a long run. In the end, I sent the US 10.5 back & opted to keep the US 11, even though it's slightly longer than I wanted. I have approximately 30 miles on the Turbo 2's & have zero issues with blisters, hotspots, chaffing or comfort.
The new lacing system is much, much better than the FlyWire and I immediately noticed a huge stability difference in the Turbo 2's. When cornering, or running on a roadside slope, I didn't feel as if the shoes were going to topple on themselves like I sometimes feel in the original Turbos. I feel the new lacing system locks down my foot without any pressure points/issues.
Breathability in the original isn't great, actually, it sucks, but it's much improved in the Turbo 2's. The new upper is much more transparent, which evacuates heat & moisture way better than the original Turbo upper, which is immediately apparent.
Last, but not least, the color "Electric Green" is probably the coolest color for running sneakers I've ever owned and in only a week, I've received multiple comments on how great they look.
Which turbo 1 did you have. Some have commented that the sizing changed a bit from the original two colors to the later color releases.
@@kofuzi I purchased my Turbo 1 shoes from Nike.com in May, 2019 and they are the indigo blue color scheme.
Having a similar quandary with my Turbo 2's. The shoes are the same length as the Turbo 1's, but because they removed padding around the heel, and the upper is thinner, there's more volume for your feet. Feel like it fits about a quarter size too big. I ordered a half size down and it oddly feels a bit too narrow around the midfoot. Didn't have any problems on the run with my bigger TTS shoe, thinking I might just stick with it despite having a bit more room at the front of the shoe than I'm used to.
@@steveh5242 That's what I ended up doing. The men's 10.5 was a good fit length wise, but the mid foot upper was too tight/shallow. I have close to 50 miles in the 11s & even though they're slightly bigger (longer) than I'd like, I have zero issues with them while running. I'm curious what the Next% shoes feel like!
@@cbgny23 Thanks for your impressions-going to stick with my TTS pair even if they're a bit long in the toe box. The Next% is great! Feels like a natural evolution of the 4% shoe...a lot more easy to live with on a daily basis.
