1/72nd is the best scale to collect. very economical and so many historical minis to use in many fantasy, modern, or scifi games.

It's strange to me that 1/72 is ultra cheap, and 1/36 (green army man scale) is ultra cheap, but basically no one will make something in the middle (28-32mm) ultra cheap. Even at middling quality a bag of 40 28mm knights or sci-fi soldiers for $10-$15 would be a boon to wargamers/hobbyists. Even if just as cheap bodies to stick all your extra bits from real kits on.

A video on Large Doorways, caves and other large entrances on the board, would be interesting for using larger creatures. Also 3D bridges and tunnel networks. Comparing other sculpts to the standard heroquest ones.

Another great video! Thank you as always both Ash and Shar!
Also, thank you for showing off the scale of each miniature. Hopefully it can clear some things up and give ideas for people homebrew.
Personally, I would get some 20mm bases to help bring up their height or add 3 onto one 25mm+ as a fun horde or pack mobs.
The troll and fairies you can just add a 25mm base and they would be perfect for 2021 HeroQuest.

With the Heroquest furniture and the small mini’s you could make a adventure of war / quest in a giants castle . “ The giant terrorizing the land has died now all forces try to be the first to find his fabled treasure but beware there are still giant dangers and challenges to overcome”

I watched the $10 Dark Alliance video and then I went and was surfing and found a link that showed all of their miniature lines. I thought the orc and worg sets would pass as goblins and worgs quite nicely. Sadly the few links selling the minis were much more expensive than $10. The lowest was $17. I'll wait and find a better deal if I decide to get them for bulking up my small worg calvary minis.

I like the extra scale info. I find that I prefer the heroic scale for the humanoid models. I ended up scooping up one of those unicorn sets from 5 below and keep a look out at dollar stores. Though it only has a few figures, Key to the Kingdom was a favorite board game I had as a kid. Something about how you could use the equipment cards to overcome challenges and the wide variety of creatures and test parameters was really cool. Safari Ltd. have some nice mostly action figure scale creatures, but can be a source for huge monsters. The smaller tubes may be a lot closer though. I run into them at some of the hobby and art stores like Michaels.

Great video Ash! This and the previous video were extremely useful. I would have loved to go full blown and pick up all of the sets offered by Dark Alliance, but I'm very particular. Lol. They have to be 28mm or 28mm Heroic scale to work in my campaigns / games.
Nevertheless, I love this review and have decided to pick up a few of the larger 1/72 scale minis from Dark Alliance that may play into the campaigns and games that I run. Very excited about the possibilities.
I do hope that Dark Alliance does take notice and rescales a few of these sets for 28mm or 28mm Heroic. If so, I'd own every set. "Take my money!" 😂

I made (earlier) some calculations how different 1:72 is from 1:54 (=28mm*/32mm**). Maybe some one could done that math easier way, but I took measurement from 1:54 turned it back to real world size (x*54=y) and then turned it to 1:72 scale (y:72) and noticed that it is exactly 25% smaller. Meaning, that if real world me would stand in T-pose next to 25% smaller me, my hands would barely be top of head of shorter me. And at least for me, this made it much easier to try to understand size difference between models (I do not have Heroic size minies, so it scales bit differently from this video).
I also noticed that direcly from Ukraine buying Dark Alliance minies, it may cost something between 6-7 euros (plus transport, and taxes, since EU has now taxes for importing things - except for Chinese people, who are clever enough to find loopholes and deliver things without needing pay those taxes (I don't know how, but it seems like they may have German(?) company in Netherlands(?), and that seems effect on all that. But for everyone else, who do not know how to use loopholes, there these import taxes. No matter is it from UK, Ukraine, USA, or wherever...)). However I do not feel comfortable to name the place, since I do not know at all (and because I do not exactly remember name of it at moment), but I found it by adding in search engine "Dark Alliance Miniatures" and one of result was something like "blog text" which linked four different shop which sells these minies, telling prices of each of them. And the cheapest was the one what I am talking about. But the shop was in Kiev.
For me, when I tried to look from Amazon Dark Alliance minies, they were always 20€ per packet (with free delivery). What is not exactly cheap(er than other things). But then again, I never bought anything from Amazon, so maybe it is just lack of my skills to find them...but I would suspect that delivery to this country is just too expensive for most of companies? (I use AliExpress, or in case of miniatures, often German company Fantasywelt, or just buy directly from producer (for example GreenStuffWorld is Spanish company, inside of EU). eBay and Amazon seems to be so often so expensive because of those import taxes, etc..).

Don't hate me, don't hate me, but I am wondering why you didn't use the hot water trick before cutting the Dark Alliance minis from their very thick sprues? Wouldn't that have made them more malleable to twist at an angle easier to cut and make the cutting itself easier?

You might be in luck looking for some 1/72 furniture in the WWII model range. There's tons of boxes, sand bags and even piles of baggage that's pretty useable.
I swapped over to 1/72 for my TTRPGs as the minis are easier to batch paint and storage is less of a hassle. Being much cheaper was also a big draw.

@@andersand6576 Hey sorry for the late reply. As far as 1/72 fantasy, unfortunately a lot of my stuff came second hand. I loaded up on the old Age of Mythology board game which had tons of monsters and varied infantry in 1/72.
For most other stuff, since I'm doing Star Wars, I ended up reusing a lot of the old Micro Machines stuff and even made a few recasts of my own to safely cut up, part swap and sculpt over for custom characters.
