Hello Ash, do you play the trial with new heroes? Starting the game with my son soon and I remember EU version was fine somehow but is it too hard as first experience with US version ?(2021)

As far as the dice in a bottle go, I bought a different brand of olive oil than I usually do because it came in a glass flask perfect for adding d6's into. Clean the bottle, add a cork from a wine bottle, and done. I have about 60 10mm d6 in it and it's about half full. This kit is something I'd buy my niece's daughter as she'd love it and doesn't live with me so I wouldn't have to pick up the mess.

I love these maps. I have a few and I've been eyeing this one for our HQ campaign. It reminds me of the Feerott from EverQuest, so naturally I want to pair this map with the lizard people from the Epic Encounter minis from Steamforged Games.

Musk buying Hasbro would be the end of the D&D brand. His incel cultists never liked tabletop RPGs, they wont start buying them even he changes D&D into F.A.T.A.L. with AI DMs and microtransactions. On the other hand, the D&D community is not survivable without women and queer people. Musk will see and trash the D&D brand. Luckily he can't touch existing OGLs or steal books from our shelves.

Very pretty. One thing, I guess I have this stubborn idea about HeroQuest boards/tiles, is that the squares should be incorporated into the design itself... rather than just a grid being overlaid onto a piece of artwork. All of HeroQuest up to a certain point followed that rule to me, though you can see a deviation from it in the original version of ATOH (some pieces just look like they slammed a black grid over the top of some art). I get it, in the case of ATOH it would be a little tricker to do (maybe use tufts of grass or little rocks to create the grid like in some instances of Blood Bowl?). The "outdoor area" in that quest pack doesn't even really need squares (but they are there if you want them) since it's basically a giant space area. The basic grid overlay works for other games but classic HeroQuest art set a higher bar for my expectations. That said, would I turn down playing on something that looks that cool? heck no, and great job to the one who put it together. thanks for sharing!

The map itself seems pretty nice, I just wish the lines were a little less visible. It muddles some of the finer details (to my eyes, at least). Nice video as always

This looks amazing! I do wish that they maintained the grid exactly, so I could migrate quests onto the map 1:1, but still very cool for homebrews. Avalon Hill should do a box of just alternate boards with a tropical jungle, lush forest, dark cavern, icy mountaintop, barren desert, etc. That would be a missed opportunity for them to skip out.

No, he never played any RPG or TTRPG or even attended a Con. Stuff is toys to him. What a joke. Can't even save kids in a cave. Tesla, deathtraps and does not care.

Another good tip is, when you playtest your quest, cheat! Do everything possible to break your quest or skip large chunks. Players will do things you won't think of, so do your best to stop thinking like you, and start thinking like them.

The murder mystery rule makes me want to play a clue game with the HQ board and furniture with some kind of revised search function.

I love the new Avalon Hill edition of this game (lost my old game in a move years ago sadly), and this video convinced me to get the Ogre Horde expansion as my first expansion for it. The ogres look so funny and cute, the skeleton archers look awesome, and it's lovely that we get a new class added to the game as well! My box is on its way as we speak! I'm hyped!

I too was hoping for some balanced discourse on what the future could bring and instead got a bunch of weak cheap shots on a celebrity's public foibles. I expected better and was disappointed. You can of course do whatever you like with your videos and channel, but my vote is for less casting stones in hopes of a sympathetic chuckle. You're better than this.

The more I think about it, the more I see homebrews and unofficial guides pop up online, the more I learn about how easy it is to produce custom 3D sculpts of new (and classic) characters, the more I think Avalon Hill would be wise to produce a new version of the "Adventure Design Kit" with new board, tiles, a host of new minis, and some kind of software for printing your own custom cards and quest maps.

You've sold me on this book. I also think, Ash, that you'd like One-Shot Dungeon, a solo rpg game that's fast, easy to learn, and super fun, I play it all the time when not HeroQuesting!

Modular linkable tiles, like Advanced HQ or Space Hulk use would give us endless options. Random corridor/dungeon generation is very cool IMO. 'Home distilled' could be a term a step or 2 up from home brewed

those of you on X, let him know what you want for HeroQuest. if it were to happen, what would you want? couldn't hurt. be our ambassadors there. I think HQ is on the right track, they're listening to the fans, they have people who care, and while they are doing what they can, they could use a little more help with maintaining their App, keeping the PDFs of the quest books up to date, and managing their discord. also, WOTC needs more Grognards on their board. again, it couldn't hurt.

Its one thing to understand things in the past are wrong, its another to judge to past by todays morality.

Ash, you really don’t know enough about the issues involved in D&D to cover it here. And you talked too much about your personal political beliefs. And like it or not, Musk counts as political now. Please don’t bring this up again. All I want is HQ content and coverage without any political content whatsoever. I’m sick and tired of hearing it on almost every other channel. Really just tired of all of it from both sides.

Ok, currently Hasbro is crashing and burning. When they go bankrupt, we definitely won’t be getting new expansions. If nothing radical happens, HQ Official dies. If Musk buys Hasbro, at least we have a chance for more HQ content.
