Awesome look at this it's been on my to buy list for awhile now. I currently own Tin Realm from them and really enjoy it for a quick solo play experience.
Tin Realm has been brutal for me. I've completed Tin Helm several times and recently thought of letting my character continue to Realm, and it's still a challenge.
This is one of those games that's been on my radar for a long time, maybe a couple of years, also Rogue Dungeon (2nd Edition) is another I'm considering. Problem is I'm pretty much a completionist, like you it seems. This game ends up being quite expansive for everything and being in Australia this game ends up costing approximately $335aud + shipping, $335aud also includes the 2 neoprene mats.
Price was my hesitation and why I waited for a sale, then I had to get everything (which videos will shortly reveal). I did skip on the mats, which thankfully are available as free downloads from GGG's website if one is inclined. They aren't necessary but I can definitely see how they would improve orderliness.
@@AshQuest Yeah, if I remove the mats it ends up about $270aud + shipping. There's also the PNPA version which ends up quite a bit cheaper, not sure on the scan quality though as I've never used them. Ends up at $56 (I think it's usd) so that's approx $85aud and there's no shipping. Cost of ink and paper are the only extras but my printer has very cheap ink per page.
Iron Helm is a great game! The Game Crafter has the Gnome Pack which has additional cards for this and other games, including character creation cards! The game mats are great also!
I have always wonderd why people think solo board gaming is weird but doesn't bat an eye if someone enjoys playing digital solo games (tv games, PC, on the phone), why is one thing weird and the other is not?
@@mcstabba Exactly, it's no different to playing PC/console/Phone games on your own. Even multi-player online gaming is pretty much playing on your own. The only true "companionship" in the PC/Console world is couch co-op or the vastly superior PC LAN (Local Area Network) gaming. Nothing beats a LAN Party, those were the days. Before that it was old-school Arcades.
Iron Helm is one of the greats to me. Really enjoy it.
So happy to see you review this. Great game.
Darn it, Ash. You're gonna make me buy more stuff.
I have had all the Iron Helm stuff in my Game Crafter basket for the last 4 weeks. Mmmm I want it so baaaaad!
Love this game! Grey Gnome is a quality brand.

Nice on time to add to the Xmas List of Obscurities... aka the list to spend xmas money on

The Howling Abyss (Dungeon Deck 2) adds some gameplay changes too.
This game is the bees knees. Managed to win with the beggar. Those cards not tied to the purchased game are promotional.
A really special breed of weirdo is needed to enjoy solo playing board games ngl xD
I'm a special breed of weirdo, then. Iron Helm kicks all kinds of ass.
