Well done to Hyundai for creating a hot hatch that actually sounds like a hot hatch & definitely well done to Peugeot for creating a 1.6 that's able box in 2.0 hot hatch ring. Also thanks to PDriveTV for creating this cool comparison.
Go and learn about cars before you make comments that will make you look stupid. Hyundai has been rated best quality in recent study, an 5 year warranty that includes track coverage is peace of mind. go figure...
Someone please build a car with the weight of the Peugeot, the engine of the type R and sound of the i30N. The i30N is too heavy, the Peugeot has ergonomic issues and the Type R looks like it was designed for a lead role in the Fast and the Furious.
Completely agree the i30n had the potential to be the perfect hot hatch but the weight neuters it. Im sure it drives amazing and handles great but imagine how much better said car would be if it weighed 100-150kg less.
Steven Kellerman that's true the MPS was stupid quick for its time. It's 80 to 120 roll on was quicker than a e92 M3 and Audi RS4. Though one things for sure handling has come a long way with these types of cars. Megane rs was the yard stick and everyone else has caught up/surpassed it.
308 has no ergononic issues... If you set the seat in the lowest position you won't see the dials, because your driving position is WRONG. If you set the correct driving position you will always see the dials, it was designed like that.
lol are you kidding me, if spending another 1k+ for a good valve exhaust is no big deal for you then i don't know and the people who don't care about that money don't buy these cars in the first place.
in my country peugeot costs 4k euro more than i30n performance and civic costs 17 k euro more than i30n perf so hyundai is clear winner for me with 5 year warranty and i saw some 7 months old for sale for around 7k euro less than when they were new.
I own 308 GTi BPS for over 5 years now and it's absolutely fantastic car . Drive it most on the weekends now only cause of my job..but it's really fun car with more interesting interrior and small steering wheel makes driving even more fun. I love it every time I drive the GTi. Absolutely brilliant fun. Been in i30N and GTi definitely felt more angrier for sure. Bigger boot, nicer interrior, better on fuel, lighter, bigger brakes etc..what's not to like it? 😅😃..I Love it
i absolutly dont understand why you youtube car channels always compare the HEAVYER and LESS POWERFULL I30 N with the lighter and WAY MORE POWERFULL Type R in terms of 0-100/0-60 that is absolutly stupid
I can't believe the 308 took so long to stop as it is the lightest car here and has arguably the best brakes (Alcon). Also, are the panels on the Hyundai made from lead?
There were test where the GTi was the best. Here its the worst. Something went horribly wrong here. You can see that the tire pressure light is on in the dashboard, when he's acceleration and braking. So this test is a fail
This guy just can't shift. I've driven all cars for at leas a day and did 0-100km/h much faster in all of these cars. Type R: 5.6s; 308 GTi: 5.9s; i30N 5.9s. I bought the i30N because it's the most fun to drive. Type R feels sterile and the 308 GTI feels more like a more powerfull 308 GT than a real hot hatch. The Hyundai is heavy because a) it's not the lightest chassis of these 3 and b) the standard equipment. The electric / heated seats alone are a 50kg increase compared to the seats in the Type R. At 1475 kg curb, it's not extremely heavy (still lighter than a Leon Cupra 300, Golf R, ... ) and more importantly, it doesn't FEEL heavy. The car is very agile, the brakes are good and it has a ton more torque than the puny 1.6 liter of the Peugeot. It also feels properly planted on the road under all conditions, where the Pug is just a toy for sidewinds, highway trail forming, etc.
TheDudeInTheRedHotHatch good comment. But the i30N doesn't have a ton more torque. Its 23 Nm. Nothing. I would like to know the wheel torque. Since the 308 GTi has a short geared ratio, the wheel power and torque should be higher. You can feel that above 200 kmh. The Peugeot is so much faster in that area.
TheDudeInTheRedHotHatch yep, the performance has 378 Nm. 48 Nm more but the heavier the object the higher the torque has to be. So high torque isn't really crucial. A diesel truck has 1000 Nm maybe. A racing bike has 200 Nm. The i30N is heavier so it needs the higher torque.
The Type R looks like a hot wheels car for 5 year olds, awful styling. The i30N sounds ok when giving it the beans driving but it is a tad chav tastic and would get a bit much everyday driving and on long commutes, Also how is the build quality, is what I’m thinking 🤔 questionable at best I can’t see these staying well put together after 5 years. It’s the 308 Gti for me personally it’s subtle but stylish, fast and sounds sporty ( can easily get a more aggressive sounding exhaust system if preferred also) comfortable for daily driving, economical, practical and is well put together build quality wise with a nice interior well done Peugeot Sport 👍🏻
Uncle Rico harder pads will eat discs faster than "euro compound pads", the fact is that you should get about 80k km out of the Peugeots discs and pads which is about normal for this sort of hot hatch, but as it also had the highest g on braking it amazes me it took the longest to stop as my car has the same Alcon set up and really does stop better than pretty much every car in its class.
Silly of them to add the 14.7 of atmo to that gauge, especially because the people who would know the difference will pick it out. But after alittle searching they indeed do have forged rods and pistons. Still, 36psi is crazy stuff
It is actually 2.5 bar of boost. It's a 1.6 L with 272 BHP. You won't get that power figure in a 1.6 with only 1.5 bar unless you're having a 9000+ RPM rev range and a bigger turbo capable of pushing out that boost @ high revs. Which would ask for a twin turbo setup or it would be undrivable on the streets because of the gigantic boost treshold
No issues here believing its making that pressure. But everything you've said is utter drivel. It's not the 90's anymore. Twin scrolls, direct injection, better ECU parameters and better technology in general just makes everything you've said a moot point. Just eruugh, you've given me a headache.
Damn that i30N sounds really good imo
Yes thats true the sound is much better
Well done to Hyundai for creating a hot hatch that actually sounds like a hot hatch & definitely well done to Peugeot for creating a 1.6 that's able box in 2.0 hot hatch ring. Also thanks to PDriveTV for creating this cool comparison.
Peugeot with only 1.6 l give the most efficient capacities with a light weight and its style is simple and pleasant, like a german car.
I bought the 2019 i30N Performance👍
I am waiting for my fastback N performance. How is it?
@@pantelist04 love it mate! Drove the direct competition and the N got my money👍
Man that I30 N you can have fun with it every day!!... look 3:20 /4:30
No though the newer model is a bit quieter due to new regulations, still sounds better than nearly all the other hot hatches though.
I would personally get the hyundai cause it looks and sounds the best
Waris Hafeez I don't wanna north Korean car

Well said😎
I30-N agility!!!!

I feel a bit sad knowing my 2010 Mazda 3 MPS can do 0-100km/h in 6.1sec while these 3 only had those numbers 8 years later...

TheWretchedWorld that's true handling in my car is extremely harsh lol, when you floor it that torque steer can be killer
Both the Peugeot and the Honda sound like vacuum cleaners compared to the Hyundai, holy crap
Lollikips not a big deal since these types of cars always get aftermarket exhausts anyway
Tony Badivuk oh for sure, but it still surprised me to see how the other perfomance models were so quiet from factory
lol are you kidding me, if spending another 1k+ for a good valve exhaust is no big deal for you then i don't know and the people who don't care about that money don't buy these cars in the first place.
BS video , sport mode isn’t enable on the 308
lol
308 GTI with remus exhaust, 'nuff said. And it is still cheaper than the others.
in my country peugeot costs 4k euro more than i30n performance and civic costs 17 k euro more than i30n perf so hyundai is clear winner for me with 5 year warranty and i saw some 7 months old for sale for around 7k euro less than when they were new.

i like more the i30,i dont care if its slower or faster.if you got the money its must buy.
Alex Zeus if you got money then buy an A45 rofl. Fastest and best sounding hot hatch by far
John Deere, the A45 costs near 60K €, 2x the price of the i30N
John Deere a45 is 30 seconds slower on the nordschleife compared to the type r 😂
As usual a brilliant and relevant video - thanks Guys!! Loved it..!! I'm surprised the i30N was slowest to 0 - 100kms.; wasn't expecting that
Still shit hot for the price and it has around 45 HP less than the type r. It won't be far behind either
It was the driver
It officially is the slowest though. But that’s just 1/10 of a second lower than the 308
Hyundai i30 N (Performance Pack?) sound (The best!) 💪🏼 . 😋😎
The honda drivers seat is already got marks on it, thus after a while you would have problems with the right side bolster ?
Great video! Good to see some interesting cars on this channel again, rather than soul crushing SUVs and crossovers. :)
Yes, it's difficult to avoid SUVs at the moment. Everybody wants one and thus every car manufacturer has a new one it wants to promote :)
Yeah, fair enough, at least they keep your channel going so you can make videos like this.
Two 2.0 engine vas 1.6 Peugeot
The Hyundai definitely sounds better.
i absolutly dont understand why you youtube car channels always compare the HEAVYER and LESS POWERFULL I30 N with the lighter and WAY MORE POWERFULL Type R in terms of 0-100/0-60 that is absolutly stupid
little chiptune and Type-R is history.. :)
Hyundai sounds epic, but i'd go for the 308
Rafael C.
Epic dump of crap
308 gti for sure
Where’s my 308 gti gang at?!
Love mine got at xmas

hawkseye 330 Nm for the 308 and 380 Nm for the i30N Performance and also earlier and across a wider range
Any heads up on when you'll test the new type R?
Amazing hyundai
Congratulations Honda, for the most disgusting interior ever fitted into an incredible car. Hyundai, here I come. Thank you.
308 GTi by Peugeot Sport for me or maybe Leon Cupra
I like the i30 much better than either of them...
The Type R looks like a hot wheels car for 5 year olds, awful styling. you’d have to be stupid to choose any other car than the i30n, holy shit it’s beautiful
Hyundai is the BEST
You guys have 5 seats in your country for a type r? The US has 4 with two cup holders in the middle section.
5:26, 5:34 I30N Pafff!!!
peugeot is the best looking and has the most efficient engine
Taner Özşahin the best looking? looks like a car that you can give to your wife, i30n and type r look way better imo
My favourite is the i30n but you are right it looks the best and it has the most efficient engine
@@dometr9254 are you crazy its beautiful
@@dometr9254 and the type r is too over styled watch DOUG demuro review
@@dometr9254 Yes Youre right Peugeot not
1- i30N 2-308 3-type r its my choise
mine too,just bought a i30N :)
i30N is the BEST
All great cars, my preference would be Type R followed by 308 GTi followed by I30n.
If you had the money. I don't so the Hyundai is fine
i30N😘🙆♂️👍👍👍👍👍👍
I30N and forget about the rest. Hyundai well done!👍
I30 sound is from exhaust, both type r and 308 sounds are from engine. That’s the difference.
Honda should have at least made the type r sound better
My old punto abarth stock sound better than the civic.
If this test is serious, the Peugeot. If its because of engine noise, do not invent!!
308 Gti
Honda has the best performance all over no doubt and the quality is awesome!
the peugeot's dials are really messing with me
i30N Fastback owner! :) love it
Civic type r for sure, Looks, sounds and handles the best!
Have you driven one before?
Millen Rogers I have put around 800kms on my wife's type r. So yes in response to to your question.
Uncle Rico I'm not a fan of the rear bumper but the rest of the car grew on me pretty quick.
Looks are subjective...the car is amazing.
Sound and looks orribile*
I would go for either Hyundai N or Civic R cuz they both have a good reliability and last touch quality.
as a JDM fanboy ill admit the hyundai sounds the best.
What a sound of i30N. I love popcorn.
That pug is quick it looks quicker than the others
Well, the intro music was better than the sound of the civic
Civic's touchscreen is the worst.
Later, the infotainment system is much more annoying than a few seconds faster.
Peugeot is the best
The Peugeot is the best!!😍
The i30N has a better sound, but the sound of the 308 GTi is very good too.🤙
hyundai i30 n
Type R sounds like a True Sleeper Car,
Unfortunately doesn't look like one.
the hyundai sound is sooo nice!!!! the peugeot do really slow at real 7 seconds flat .....
O Peugeot é um 1.6 e a companhia praticamente os dois 2.0 gosto de todos mas o Peugeot é interessante!!
wow, check the braking G's. peugeot has better brakes by a long margin, wtf
Look at the weight differences in the car. Peugeot is lightest by a big margin. It does have the smallest engine
Uncle Rico harder pads will eat discs faster than "euro compound pads", the fact is that you should get about 80k km out of the Peugeots discs and pads which is about normal for this sort of hot hatch, but as it also had the highest g on braking it amazes me it took the longest to stop as my car has the same Alcon set up and really does stop better than pretty much every car in its class.
skip to 9:50 for numbers
Fuck man i30 N sounds so good
Can you plz do a ford explorer limited
Renault megane RS anyone?
Type R and 308 are more interesting to handle than the I30
I like the song.
N sound Good
1.6 vs 2.0 ¡¡ peugeot the best
El i30n. Exelente sonido
Best sound
Does thE Peugeot really run 2.5 bar of boost? Shit...
HYUNDAI
I just don’t undestand why Peugeot has the RPM indicator made that way.
I can't get the Peugeot in my country 😔
Jeeze compared to old type R interiors the new one is boring as fuck.
TYPE-R is the best
Indeed😃
Overpriced junk.
Paint on the Type R looks great but the Car is ugly...
2.5bar with the 308??? Peugeot has to be taking the piss with that.
they have mahle forged pistons from the factory
Actually, it’s 1.5 bar. 1 for atom pressure, and 1.5 boost. They played the math in the car, lol.
Silly of them to add the 14.7 of atmo to that gauge, especially because the people who would know the difference will pick it out. But after alittle searching they indeed do have forged rods and pistons.

Horrible sound of the civic while looks are awesome.
i've seen the Hyundai hundreds of times in the reviews but still have no idea what it looks like. Totally forgettable design.

It's called under the radar. Don't need to be a show pony to buy
