    To answer the question about what happens if you are on the moon: since the moon is made of swiss cheese, you have to have one of those situations from the swill cheese model where the holes in the swiss cheese line up, in that case, you can see the earth through the moon, but due to the three strikes policy, you shouldn't fly on the moon in this situation. It's really just that simple.

    *Yes* it would only be a matter of time until _somebody_ would try to fit an Olympus 593 engine on his Comanche aircraft in order to race the sun. Easy feat with those additionnal 157 kN of trust. However, engine noise and fuel burn might increase slightly. In order to increase Vmax, duct tape might be a trusted solution to help with sturdiness of some structures which might otherwise start dynamic aeroelastic phenomena such as flutter.

    Just watched the first ten minutes of the video. A Comanche 400 might come close, but you’d have to start really high and end really low - and you’d have to Really Know How to Fly a Comanche 400, but 1,500kts is an overspeed condition and the teardown of a Lycolming eight cylinder with an STC’d prop might be financially ruinous - even for NASA. The only pilot I can think of who could pull that one off is Max Conrad (1903-1979).
    If Max Conrad was still around, and if Bill Piper paid him $15,000 to prepare a really hot little ship like the Comanche 400 to make 1,500 knots from Mexico to Maine, he’d have done it. You know he would have, because if Bill Piper wanted a Comanche 400 on the surface of the moon itself Max Conrad would have delivered it.
    There’s a great biography of Max Conrad written by Sally Toomanyvowels (Sally Buegeleisen) that everyone who loves airplanes needs to get through Abebooks or Thriftbooks or Amazon or whatever.
    The sonofabitch flew the Atlantic in a Piper Pacer, and went on as Piper’s go-to ferry pilot from there.

    With all due respect, you’re not accurate with regards to the orbital behaviors of the sun, moon and earth. The moon goes around the earth while the earth (with the moon), go around the sun. Except when there’s a black hole nearby. Then, the sun and black hole go around the earth while the moon orbits everything in the shape of a square. That’s why they say E equals MC squared.

  • @boogerwood
    @boogerwood 3 месяца назад +2

    Clearly fake as the moon's shadow travels around 1500 mph which is faster than the speed of sound. So that means you'd be persistently in the shadow's boom wake which, as we know, removes all lift. I was starting to believe you. What another disappointment. 😜
