Hello everyone!!! My name is Jannie and I am a self-taught cook. I’ve mostly learned from watching my mother and grandmother in the kitchen while growing up. I never knew that my passion for food and cooking ran so deep until I auditioned and competed on season 9 of MasterChef. It was from the show that the nickname, “Vegas Vixen”, was born. My friends have joked around calling me the “Vegas Vixen in The Kitchen” and the nickname stuck. I hope you like my take on well-known recipes as well as the ones I’ve created myself.

Lemongrass grass beef skewers aka Sach-Go Jahgak ingredients and measurement list:
2.5-3lbs of skirt steak or flap meat
1/2 cup of kreung packed (blend of lemongrass, garlic, kefir lime leaves, and turmeric)
1 tablespoon chicken powder
1/4 cup oyster sauce
1/3 cup chili paste
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 tablespoon honey
Thank you for promoting this Cambodian style beef skewers. You know we Cambodians love Kreung! Whether it’s Khmer noodles Num Banchok, Cambodian sausage Tva Ko, Cha Kreung or Somlaw Machu, you know we love to add a little bit of our staple herbal Kreung. It’s one of the defining features of Khmer cuisine.
Let’s go Jannie! Representin’ Cambodia 🇰🇭 ❤️
You are heaven sent thank you, I grew up on all these dishes you make on your channel and it’s been like a decade since I ate this so this week I’m going to make this.

It looks delicious! How do you make it not spicy?
Good looking and know how to cook that's very hard fine nowadays
My favorite🍷🍷🍷
You're an amazing cook. It's awesome to see others like you keeping our khmer roots going. I was wondering as for the chili paste does it make it taste spicy since I have kids that dont like heat.
It’s actually not spicy at all but sweet.
@@JannieLam thank you very much gorgeous

iRepairMD RUclips thank you for sharing and watching! 🤗
Is it me or @4:44 the sound of the meat imitating the sound of Mac and cheese and something else just overtook her? Lol it was clear as day, forget about the ziplock, the sound sent her into orbit. Haha I love it.
Thanks for demonstrating this video Jannie! You’re also gorgeous and nice. I’m very proud of you being on MasterChef (the US version). Also, how often do you get your manicures/pedicures?
I probably get them done every 3 weeks or so?
Awesome. I get my pedicure done every 3-4 weeks. For my manicures, I don’t get them done that often. So now we’re even.
❤❤🔥🔥👍👍
What’s the brand name of the chili paste you use?
What is the brand of Chili paste? I don't recognize it. Thank you!
Can I sun fresh turmeric with powder turmeric?
Yasss please do share! 👍👍🥰🥰❣️❣️❣️🤗
Bong srey make salay mahchew Saht kho
Hi Jannie can you provide a break down of how you make the kreung? How much lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, etc. Thank you!
Kimmy Dien hi!! I would say 2 stalks of lemongrass, 1 head of garlic, 8-10 keffir lime leaves. You can use fresh or powder turmeric. If fresh I would put 1-2 knobs based on size. Galangal is optional in this recipe. If it’s easier my friend sells kreung by the bottle. You can check out her website voraciousmarket.com hopes this helps! 🤗
Hello mam I'm your new subscriber♥️

@@JannieLam youre welcome beautiful😘🙏
I want to surprise my boyfriend for his birthday by making these beef skewers. He’s also Cambodian and speaks of these all the time, especially when his mom comes to visit. Can you please share the exact measurements for the kreung? I’m also from Vegas, which Asian market did you get most of your ingredients?
I go to the market thats on spring mountain and decatur? the one next to crown and anchor. I would say 1/3 cup of kreung would be enough. Hope this helps :) Thank you for watching!
Jannie Lam thank you for you help! Yes, I know which one you speak of. I appreciate you responding back. ❤️
What are the measurements to the kreung recipe??
2 stalks of lemongrass
10-15 small to medium sized kafir lime leave
2 two inch turmeric pieces
1/4 root of galangal (small piece 1-2 inches)
10 garlic cloves
2 teaspoon of salt
Thinking of meal prepping this. Any way you could show how to make the "kreung packed (blend of lemongrass, garlic, kefir lime leaves, and turmeric)" or at least the ratios of each ingredient?
Irwin Nardo of course! I’ll do a video for just kreung
Thanks! 🙏
@@jannielam5695 any update on the kreung video? I'd love to see it :) Wondering if I need to add water when putting the ingredients in the food processor?
Rose Jomp not yet love... during these times I haven’t been able to get a lot of ingredients. But I can tell you, you can use water but I prefer grape seed oil or avocado oil to blend the kreung because it will stick to the meat more and help the grilling process. I apologize for lagging on this video but I would like to film it right than film it at all. Hope this helps 🙏🏽
Video Stupendo 👍👍👍🔔❤️🌹💋
Thank you for sharing your recipe with us🙏🥰👍
I'm gonna try this, I seen your episode and was like whaaat! Keep your head up CHEF! Now let's go try this kreung sauce and skewers CHEF RAY ALVAREZ!❤❤👨🏼🍳👨🏼🍳

Cambodia 🇰🇭🇰🇭🇰🇭
Not sure how I missed a fellow Cambodian on Master Chef but congrats and thanks for properly representing our culture and food.
Question - One of the comments on the show was that the flavor was sweet. Aside from the sugar, what contributes to the sweetness? Is it the chili paste? What would you recommend if I wanted slightly saltier without drowing it with table salt?
Maybe from the honey?
She speaks Khmer too. This has to be authentic
I literally watched that episode.. he doesn't know anything about jrour or bok la hong...
Where do I find the measurements of ingredients in description ?
Yes it’s in description box
Hi, do you have to use the chilli paste??
Ceebs sorry for the late response. The chili paste can be optional.
Jannie Lam thanks :)
Oh I didn’t realise you were on the show with them , can you send a link please I want to watch thanks
Search MasterChef season 9 episode 1
Can I put food. Color bong
What kind of chili paste is it?
It's panthai brand chili paste in soya bean oil. If you google its the only thing that will pop up. :)
Can I replace the oyster sauce? I am allergic to seafoods.
Im also allergic to shellfish but oyster sauce doesnt seem to affect me. A good replacement should be soy sauce i think
good question! I've never substituted
before but I would imagine mushroom sauce has a similar texture and possibly similar flavor. That would be my suggestion. Hope that helps! :)
They have vegetarian oyster sauce available
May u please upload the picture of the chilli paste, thanks
The brand is pantai brand. Chili paste in soybean oil.
What brand is the chili paste ?
Pantai, chili paste in soybean oil
Can you take a pic of the chili paste? Please
If you google chili paste in soybean oil its the first one that pops up. Panthai brand. Let me know if you still have any questions :)
What is the brand of chili paste you use?
angieebby21 sorry for the late response, it’s pantai chili paste with soya bean oil
It is nice to see a fit Khmer girl in the United States. I only see mainly chubby Khmer girls in the United States.
I can assure there’s plenty of fit khmer girls/women in the US.
why do i see lemons, limes, tomatoes, bell pepper on table if you not using em? kinda confusing
Idk what’s confusing about having ingredients out as apart of staging and appearance. If I didn’t use them it’s simple, they just don’t belong in the recipe, unless you’re just paying attention to what’s there and not the actual recipe.
@@JannieLam Relax, try to be a little more classy and friendly with people watching your stuff, it was a valid question. Sigh
