In this video I will walk you through a customer project here at #brigadeboats . We are working on a #basstracker Pro Team 165. The project scope of work was a full gut job, replacing floors and front deck in sheet aluminum, custom framed aluminum front deck and redesign, added storage hatches, rewiring the boat, adding Fuse box and gang switches, all new carpet throughout, and lastly upgrading the livewell. That, is what this video is about.
In this video I will go in depth and show you step by step, how to upgrade a factory livewell in a boat with a Variable livewell timer and pump to recirculation the water in your livewell. This will increase your livewells performance in keeping fish healthy, especially in tournament conditions. This video is shot on a Bass Tracker aluminum boat but this same process can be used for any boat with a livewell that needs water recirculation/aeration. I will show you all the products needed to complete this upgrade. Through the project documentation you will see all the tools used and I will clearly show you how I do this job. There will be tips and tricks along the way. This project is a half day deal, take your time, do it right. Thanks for watching.

How do you not have triple the subscribers you have now. You make some quality stuff. Keep it up!
I have no idea. I'd love to know. Tell a friend! Thank you!!
@@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats I know quality content takes time but I’m impatiently waiting for you to post. I’d like to chat with ya anytime!
Ppl have to like, subscribe, and share the links. Helps if he reminds ppl through out the video to do so
I love your vids . Very informative and may I add your attention to detail is exceptional . I consider what you do to these boats is to a magician. You are very good at what you do. Awesome
Awesome, I restored the same tracker over the winter. It is my first boat, I didn’t know a thing about boats, let alone how to restore/modify one. I learned as I went from watching your videos. The boat turned out awesome. I’ll post a before/after.
I want to see that
you freaking rock! I have a 1991 bass tracker with the same livewell and this is exactly what I was looking for! subscribed!!! seems crazy to permanently mount that pump though, should have just used silicone. I also have questions, is all of this necessary? Could you not have just put the live well drain tube in and put a timer on the existing fill pump and just had it fill the livewell with fresh water every few minutes and then drained existing water into the drain tube?
Great tutorial.... I feel like I need a livewell now! So fancy!
We can get you set up real nice cuz
Im going to do this to my Bass Tracker. Thank you so much.
Best example and explanation I've seen. Could you run the fill switch to the switch panel to fill it also so you wouldn't have to go to the back of the boat to fill the live well?
Nice attention to detail. wish you were local
Awesome video!!
Thanks for the visit
I have a tracker 185 and it has a small compartment on each side of the livewell. I’m guessing I could do this but coil up a lot of that recirculating hose in one of those side compartments and fill with ice to try to cool the livewell. Do you think that could work? I would probably have to figure out how to insulate the small compartment though.
Great job that is the best explained video I have seen!!
Glad it was helpful!
Love it, great job man! Simple upgrade for great results!
Thanks man 👊
Awesome setup! 👏🏾
CLEAN!!!!
This is a great Video, thank you for the information!
Man what a great video!!!!!!!! Going to do this to my G 3
Nice modification
What's the purpose/benefit of a recirculating pump in a livewell over just the fill pump with an overflow pipe in the livewell?
Oxygen keeps helps the fish stay alive. Similar to a fish tank. All modern bass boats have livewell recirculation built in now.
Could you simply have added the aerator timer with the fill pump and added an overflow pipe? This way the livewell gets new oxygenated water as per the timer setting? Does the water get more oxygen from an aerator or from renewing the water? In any case, very neat setup there!
Yeah there should be an overflow to get out old water and bring in new lake water. Recirculation does no good to just recirculate dirty stale water. My bass tracker just has a pump/aerator (single inlet) with an overflow. So it's get oxygen and fresh water at the same time.
You are right that pumping in fresh water accomplishes the same thing from an oxygen perspective. However, if you add any treatment, such as G Juice, to the water it pumps it right out.
Great work. Am currently retiring a 94 alumacraft deluxe. Where did you get the aluminum sheeting for the deck and was it a wallet breaker? Thank you.
Really good looking work!
Thanks so much man
Wheres the over flow ? Did it allready have one ?
멋진 기술이네요
very nice
Thank u
Nice work Dr jones as always
Thanks so much man! You will enjoy some upcoming projects!
Awesome video! Just want to make sure I’m understanding this, but the livewell still has its own switch to fill itself separately, and then the recirculating system runs separately?
Yes. Livewell fill is controlled by pump at the transom. Livewell Recirculation is controlled by the pump at the livewell. Both separate switches
Great video, and great job. Thanks for sharing. One question though, whenever I run any wire or hose through a hole in aluminum, I always put a rubber grommet in so it's not cut into. Were you not concerned with the drain hose possibly being cut into over time?
No I wasn't. It was a clean cut. Can use deburring tool or a bit of sandpaper to round. Hose went straight through, no pressure or kink on it to rub. I do use rubber edging or grommets, just time and a place and feel they are not always necessary. Just me, you do you.
Have you installed a aerator pump on a lowe roughneck center console with the livewell located on the bow?
Can I use this set up if put pump closer to bait well it's about 7ft from the back of boat
If you use permanent cure what happens when the pump goes out can you still get that apart later on
Great video great how to video thanks
Appreciate you
Great vid, Is their an overflow feature? Do you still have your cooler/live well set up?
Thought. Since you had to make the hole for the pump would it really have been an issue using the hole saw since you were going to end up making a bigger hole anyway? Just asking because i am about to do this and would rather use the hole saw, but now I am wondering if there is something I am not thinking about. Thanks
Well done sr.
Thx
I like your channel more after every video
My bass tracker has a spray head and a piece of pvc on the drain hole that holds it about 85% full and acts as an overflow.
That how they’re supposed to work. No recirculating required, water pumped in, excess goes out overflow stand pipe and out the drain.
nice looking job
thanks
What choice would someone have if they wanted that but didn't want to cut into there boat
Anthony where are you located and how much do you charge to install a recirculation system ?
is that a custom sticker/vinyl for the switch? Or does that come with the switch?
Tge decal comes with the switch but i made the cover the decal is applied too
Maybe I missed it but, how do you fill it up?
He filled the livewell with a water hose. Then he just recirculating the water from the live.
My boat has this setup but its all mangled so this shows me what it was origanally intended
Also can the livewell work if I connected it to a battery
Great video!
Mine has the pump already but it went out. I'm guessing I have to remove the gas tank to change it?
Dude is the best!
Nice boat 🤙🤘
I plan on remodeling a 16’ Lund. Don’t plan on even including a live well. In my state (Minnesota) do to laws and having to dump all water after your on your trailer, a live well serves no purpose. A cooler with ice is now preferable in my case.
Have you ever used this setup with a venturi aerator?
No
I cannot find the links to the parts you said would show up at the end of the video.Want to order them all
You have to click down under the video, they are in the video description.
Awesome, thanks!
thank u
I like your idea but whh not use the whole flow rite kit like Mike does?
1) Because im not Mike 2) need bottom access of livewell for recirculation, not ideal in retrofit or new buuld with limited space under livewell tub 3) saves about 200$ this way over premium flow rite kit
@@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats 🙄 your not Mike?
Hey so do you sell those brigade boat stickers ?
great video to bad most of these parts are not available on amazon now.
I have a question, I’m doing the same on my boat but where the pump is located I have to run a hose from the back of the live-well to the recirc pump which is located near the transom due to the gas tank location is so tight I can’t mount the pump straight to the live-well itself so I’m getting a 90 degree through hull fitting and I’m going to add that to the live-well, will the have to be mounted up mid ways above the main line-well drain so the water will flow down to the pump located near the transom and was wondering your opinion, you think it will have enough pull to recirc the water back up thew the hoes if I mount the fitting up higher from the bottom of the main drain hole?
I second this question!!
Is your Fuze box negative and negative or positive and negative
fuse box has positive side for fusable accessory leads, negative bus side for negative accessory leads. All ran through gang switches for each accessory.
@@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats could you maybe make a video how the fuse block works and how to install a fuze block I watched your video installing it but it was very confusing
Where does the water in the tank get in there?
its gravity fed from factory
One thing I don't get I see how it moves the water around and the timer for how long it stays on and off but I don't see how the water gets in the live well in the first place is there a switch you have to hit to pump the water in it then do the timer and all that
Yes. Sorry, I quickly explained in beginning, from factory it has a pump that pumps water in. It is on a separate switch. One pump fills. One pump recirculating and pumps out.
Oh ok
@@mikephelps9552 🙄 it's pretty clear when he explains where the water comes from in the beginning of the video. It's pretty stunning that people watch the video don't pay attention and then ask questions that were actually explained in the video.
What state you work out of?
Georgia
@Anthony Jones dang to far away but appreciate your video
Why not set it up like saltwater boats, outside waterline up, with overflow, fresh water in, old water out, need outside pick up plate so it picks up water when underway, your screen pick up won't pick up when underway, saltwater bait won't live with recirculation set ups, but live all day with outside pick up/with overflow
Where did you get the livewell tub
It's factory. Came in the boat.
@@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats ok thanks
how do you fill it up?
gravity fed fill up from factory
As of today 7-7-2024 the cost off all the parts are $173.21. Not including wire, screws, wiring connections, or sealant
Wonder if it would have been cheaper buying a new boat !!
No. It would not be...Also, not everyone wants "cheap". A lot of my customers want custom. And are willing to pay for it. Something they can't go to a dealer and buy or find on the used market.
Sorry I had to ruin the 420 likes and make it 421
Not so easy with a 20 gallon gas tank and 60hp outboard in the way lol
i concur
So what size was your tank because mine is tight to the wall so this wouldnt be an option i have no options really
