    I have important question in order to pump water out of tank, can you make it drain while in the water with a side of boat hole instead of back where pump is connected. So don't you need an extra hose and or T connection somewhere when u pull the aretor
    Because in all install videos it just pumps out back drain. Can you explain or maybe a detailed video for it. I cannot find one to explain that process.

  • @talktolee
    @talktolee 6 месяцев назад

    Sorry for the probably ignorant comment / question. At the 24:20 mark, I don't get the point of the drain hole out the side of the boat. I get the pump, pumping in water to the livewell, but what is purpose of allowing it to "drain" from that side when you have the drain in the bottom of the livewell and also the overflow on the opposite side. Seems at least in my head kind of pointless. I guess I don't see the point of of that component. I haven't seen the full application of one of these systems so maybe I am missing some of the core functionality.

    Do you recommend foaming around the aluminum live well to keep it cooler in the summer months ? My concern would be the aluminum would heat up the water when it gets hot

    I love what you are doing, and your builds are some of the neatest out there. I also think that you are explaining everything most understandably.
    I hope my question does not offend you, but isn't the black tube used here a bit over the top? There are cheaper reinforced tubes out there that would satisfy generously the needed pressure and temperature for a livewell system. What am I missing?

  • @captainjayc9217
    @captainjayc9217 3 года назад +2

    I believe in the "3-pumps for one livewell" situation, the third pump is for recirculating water in the livewell. In case, the boat is in a body of water where the temperature of the water surface is high, and you don't want the warm water to be introduced into the livewell, you shut off the other two pumps, and only run the recirculating pump. Then the recirculating pump can at least aerate the livewell. When you get out from that body of warm water, you can then turn on the other two pumps to get "fresh" water into the livewell. I am not sure if this is really relevant to your area; I doubt I need it because I live in the north. Having said this, the Flow-Rite livewell system seems to be able to use one pump for both recirculating and constantly getting "fresh" water into the livewell.

    Quick question
    On the overflow valve, if you were to send the plumbing back to the transom and have it come out below the waterline would the back pressure from the opening sitting below the waterline cause the overflow to back up and not drain out of the boat?
    Im currently building a live well myself

    • @fireantfishing
      @fireantfishing  2 года назад

      The overflow will be controlled by gravity meaning the water in the overflow hose will only get as high as the waterline on the outside of the boat. If your hose is attached to the tank lower than the waterline then yes you will have some issues

    Can this pump pull the water up with suction or does the water need to be fed to pumps suction side?

    • @fireantfishing
      @fireantfishing  7 месяцев назад

      Water will need to be fed to the pump, this is why it is important to have the pump mounted as low in the hull as possible.
      This pump pushes, it does not suck

    Just a heads up. Where you screwed the cable to the valve, you need to slide the black part all the way back where it clamps to the thick end part of the black cable. You might not get a full open/close otherwise. Cheers.

    great vid. just a few comments. there is no law that says the livewell pump has to feed from the transom. there appears to be a loop in the overflow that will hold water and freeze in the off season. all lines should drain with no sags to hold water. keep on!!

    Why would you need an over flow ? If you just fill it ,then recirculate, and then drain when your done. If you do that all properly it should never over flow right? I guess Unless the valve fails
