16:58 Fun fact about Inuyasha: The german anime dub was shelved literally one Arc before completion.
Even weirder: They decided to complete the dub in 2012. Eight years after the sudden end in 2004.
The thing that makes that fascinating to me is the role of Dominik Auer (Inuyasha's german voice).
As he originally started working on it in 2000 he was a newbie. As they restarted the whole thing he was head of the whole project.
    That's quite the 180.
But I seriously loved this late completion. They managed to get every single voice actor back. (Save for Myoga, dead men voice no flea ghosts. Which is kinda ironic, come to think of it.)
Even a few that retired from Voice Acting altogether.

What was weird was after the show "ended" (when the show stopped the first time) in the states people just kind of dropped it. It went from the show everyone watched to just disappearing just like that. Years later when they just quietly finished the series it never really returned to any kind of popularity as far as I'm aware. Cartoon Network ran the episodes exactly one time and that was it.
It was very anti-climactic and after all that time in between it really felt like what people had waited for was barely what they got.

Omega factor is basically a love letter to tezuka's entire library, crammed into a GBA astro boy game.

Jesus, Austin. I HAD THE 80's ZOIDS. They were wind-up motorized toys that you had to build yourself. Way better than the later release. Also had Ranma 1/2: Hard Battle....and Omega Factor... Which. C'mon. You know Sega would have to relicense Astro Boy and that would cost more than it would sell. Robotech and Macross also had games...

    • @JohnDoe-wq5eu
      @JohnDoe-wq5eu 4 года назад

The whole issue with Omega factor is it forces you to quote the SNES drunk to play it "any way
you can" which is basically just code for emulation.

I think a lot of the obscurity of that game (and any of the one piece games from that time) are pretty much down to the fact it was during the time 4kids was doing the anime.
Most people don't like to talk about that "version"
the dub or anything about it.

I would argue that Inu Yasha was less "will they or won't they" between Inu Yasha and Kagome and more "will Kagome (and later the reanimated Kikyo, once she stopped being insane) be able to convince Inu Yasha that he actually deserves to be happy and not just kill himself after killing Naraku in retaliation for murdering Kikyo in a way that deliberately made the two lovers think that they had each betrayed one another."

There was also a Tenchi Muyu RPG on the SNES I think. I remember playing an emulator copy, as it was the only way to play it, but I'm not sure if it was a copy translated by fans into english, or if there was an actual version of the game that was released in english.

    • @JohnDoe-wq5eu
      @JohnDoe-wq5eu 4 года назад +3

I would be shocked if it wasn't just a fan translation. Even though Tenchi found quite a bit of notoriety elsewhere it really didn't take off here in the states until late in the 90s and early 2000s when they were playing the series on cartoon Network. There's just no way there would have been a market for that in the SNES days.

    • @azinyefantasy4445

Fan translated. Tenchi muyo and sailor moon r for the snes were released in their Japanese forms. You had to buy a Japanese translator that sits in the console like the game genie and would read the game for you . Way ahead of its time.

The reasons why today’s Anime games don’t have English voices now because Bandai dropped out the R1 anime distribution industry years ago, which is where they pulled in most of their voices for the video games division. Today they only dub the games that are expected to pull in a large amount of profit like anything from the Tales franchise.

Glad to see you cover Revenge of King Piccolo. I rented it and enjoyed it when it first came out. The big problem I have with the game is that when you get to the King Piccolo arc, it pretty much turns into boss fights which as you mentioned just don't work very well. A lot of the unlockables are obtained through the tournament fighter mode which while not bad, isn't as fun as the dungeon crawling and platforming parts of the game.

I have at least 4 of the To Love Ru games.
One on the DS, one on the PSP and 2 of the To Love Ru Darkness games on the PS Vita.
I personally think that the DS and PSP games of the original To Love Ru series were made half way through the Manga's lifespan because they had Lala with a little sister or maybe a younger cousin in both of them.
This was before Momo and Nana were in the Manga.
And with To Love Ru Darkness Battle Ecstasy and To Love Ru Darkness True Princess on the PS Vita, they were both really good games that not only delved into the storyline that fans remember but also brought interesting alternative senarioes like in True Princess, Yuki Rito got amnesia so the girls in the series have to rejig his memories so he could remember who he is and why they love him so much with some interesting callbacks to the series itself.
Note that the To Love Ru and To Love Ru Darkness games are only released in Japan but if you are a fan of the series, you can enjoy them without having to understand the text of what is going on.

My favorite anime games that I played were: Inuyasha: Secret Of The Cursed Mask on PS2, Yugioh Forbidden Memories for PS1, and Fullmetal Alchemist And The Broken Angel on PS2. Duel Masters on PS2 was kinda garbage, but since I was a weeb in the 2000's, who wanted as much anime and manga related things I could get my hands on, I bought it from a pawn shop. Man, I love Quintet. Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma are straight up in my Top 10 games of all time. If the main guy, who is pretty much straight up missing, came out of the woodworks again and started a kickstarter for another entry in the loose Soul Blazer series he would probably get all of my money.

The problem with a lot of anime games is that the names are super long. How am I supposed to recommend “Katekyo Hitman Reborn! DS Flame Rumble XX - Kessen! Real 6 Chouka” to people when I can’t even remember the full name
(Btw this game’s actually pretty good you should totally check it out)

I gotta say, when the PS3 came out and introduced to me the automatic console shut off feature after 1-3 hours, I instantly loved it. When playing games late at night, I most likely consider PS3 or PS4 games since I know I'm gonna fall asleep and don't want the console on all night(and those are the only 2 consoles I own that shut off).
Oh, have you played the Astro Boy The Movie The Game on PS2? It's a sidescrolling 2.5D platformer, but I can't get it to work properly on my modded PS2. What I did get to work was not exactly exhilarating, but I only played like all of 45 seconds of choppy gameplay.

I saw Zoid Battle Legends at my old Blockbusters. I do kinda wish I gave it a try though. Incidentally, I did manage to 100% Custom Robot, since you brought up the game.
Feudal fairytale was one we actually had. My brother and I managed to unlock all characters, but we never quite unlocked all images.

Oh man. I had been thinking about reviewing Zoids Assault for such a long time, but I couldn't bring myself to pop it in again because it was the first game I had ever played where I quit within the first 15 minutes due to sheer boredom.

Woah I actually played some of these when I was younger! Ranma 1/2 I used to rent back when renting video games was a thing, and I owned both Inuyasha games when I was in high school. I did the same thing to my friends with Kagome, and all I can remember about the ps2 game was buyng it with money from my first job, and only getting like 20 minutes into it

You should really look into YunYu Hakusho Sunset Riders. It’s a fighting game for the mega drive released only in Japan and Brazil (believe it or not, but this anime was really famous in Brazil during the 90’s). The Brazilian Version is fully compatible with the US Sega Genesis. It’s a simple but very solid fighting game.

Anyone remember Bakugan Battle Brawlers? I had the DS game, and it was pretty alright. What got me to explore other games besides Pokémon when I was a teen. That, and my friend introducing me to the world of emulators.

Love the new backdrop. I've never seen a youtuber who broadcasts his videos from inside Intelligent Qube. Just remember to clear the Advantage Cubes tactfully and you'll be okay

I remember playing that Inuyasha game in middle school and loving it to bits. I didn't even realize it was part dating sim back then, I played it twice and got Sango's ending both times so I just thought that was the canon ending.

I played that Inuyasha game when I randomly found it in a bundle of game stuff my friend gave to me before he moved away. That bundle included a FullMetal Alchemist game, Budokai 1, and this weird Inuyasha game.
I actually tried to play it, but the first boss was too much for no reason and I gave up after it surprised killed me and I didn't expect to need to save right before it.
Thus, I never got to know about that "dating sim" thing about it.
Edit: I was like 14 when I tried it and I have since lost the disc.

A jump button and block button are great ideas for a fighting game. I wish more games besides Arena Fighters.
As fo Zoids: Arena Battle, a GameCube game that's still a 5/10 after decades of new Robot fighters sounds pretty great.

I know this is totally apropos of nothing, but just yesterday I was talking about The Simpsons and Dragon Ball Z licensed games and about how even though most of them aren't good, I like to see to see franchises that I love get games that run from the 16-bit era all the way to now.
