Kia says its recently updated Sorento in top-spec GT-Line S specification is both luxurious and has a sporty flourish. CarGurus UK Editor Chris Knapman puts it to the test to find out if that is indeed the case.

There’s a lot to like about the Kia Sorento. It feels like a sturdy, solid car that's practical and spacious. It’s safe, too, and it can go anywhere, thanks to the four-wheel-drive system fitted on every version while it's also well-equipped with some useful technological features. It's also a very comfortable family car, well suited to long journeys and, with five passengers, there’s still a lot of available boot space.
But it’s also on the road that the Sorento’s biggest deficiency shows up. It isn’t as dynamic as rivals such as the Kodiaq or Seat Taracco, so it isn’t as responsive or involving to pedal along. That said, it is perfectly consistent and straightforward to drive, so it might not be an issue for many buyers.

Why do you talk about a car (Range Rover) costing almost twice the price. The Kia is far better and will not break down all the time.
The welcome and goodbye jingle can be switch off in a car menu when automatic transmission is in parking position “P”.
Another good point to add is the 7 year warranty on Kia's. They're obviously built to last, otherwise Kia would be hugely out of pocket with all the returns during those 7 years. May I add, I have an 04 Sorento which has just completed 201,000 miles and still keeps chugging through it's yearly medical with few problems.
The Sorento is not 2.6tonne ketb weight. Why keep mentioning and comparing to a Range Rover? We all know they're not in the same league.
I found the reviewer very biased towards more 'premium' brands. For the amount of money the Sorento is very good value, and unlike Land Rover won''t break down every few months. Also this useless journalist doesn't give a toss about the car he is reviewing as he would know it weighs 1.9 tons and not 2.6 tons! Watching the Australian reviews of this Sorento with the same 2.2 diesel engine, they are more realistic and know this is a very honest family 4x4. In fact this is the worst review I've seen of a car highly praised by other car journalists. I'll make sure to avoid anymore cargurus uk video's, :- motoring journalism at it's worst!

Just review the car have in front of you... they always tray to mention land rover or range rover with any car reviews...they even met ion the English cars in their review more than the actual car they are reviewing.. R rover full equipped withs it's French engines and Tata ownership will cost 90k £... why they hell we want a review of the Sorento then... still you get a true 7 seater compared to discovery sport which can't reach the sorento in style and functionality.
Great value for money it is. Just been to the Lexus dealership and couldn’t justify paying more for less.
Is 6 speed auto more user friendly than 8 speed?
Nice car, but you can get all of that on the x-trail for around £33-35k ( brand new ).
Yeah, but Sportage is the comparison there. Has most of the features and luxury of Sorento at X-trail size.
Sit in the back row of an x-trail compared to this and you will now why it is no competition. Also I didn't know the xtrail had auto parking or Apple and Android Auto.
X trial isn't a match at all. Most of luxurious gizmos and gadgets aren't even option in X trial. Sorento is a different league.
But wont pull a caravan as well I know because I had a X Trail and the Sorento far better
I have to say this video colour grading it ridiculous.
