The Tucson looks are just not Matt's cup of tea are they....sooo many of them around now tho, seem quite popular. I have the 1.6 hybrid as a company car and it's great to drive.
The Tucson looks fine and the car is decent overall, but I also think all the other cars in this video are better. I also see the Tucson everywhere, but I think the reason for that was that the Tucson was one of the first "modernized" affordable small SUVs to launch. They had a big hype where I'm from. The Sportage and the HRV came out much later and the Nissan has Qashqai suffers from reliability issues, so that's what probably propelled them. In the last weeks I started seeing more and more HRV's and Sportages though. I think they'll overtake the Tucson.

Had my Hyundai Tucson for 6 weeks so far- really nice car and very comfortable. I quite like the looks and have had people asking me about it. My only criticism really is that the headlights and rear indicators are too low down and so need cleaning more in the winter. The LCD drivers display is great too.

@@miskatonic6210 wdym not economical at all? Been driving mine brand new from 2022 for 10k kilometers so far, and average consumption was 45 to 50mpg (Mild hybrid 48v Petrol 1.6 150hp). In my book that's more than fair consumption. I was driving mostly in eco mode, so no sporty driving when not necessary really, and couldn't be more happier. Yes, the HONDA HR-V is brilliant! After 15,000 km I am very happy with ist. Well engineered, frugal, practical, innovative (magic seats!), comfortable, generous room for passengers and with a premium touch regarding the interior design (Advance Style). The CR-V Diesel I owned before has converted me to a HONDA fan after 18 cars of different other brands including Mercedes and BMW, having never been loyal to a brand before. The HR-V Hybrid does not have a CVT though. It does not have any transmission at all, it has one fixed gear and a dog clutch for engaging the combustion engine to the wheels. The transmission is simulated by modulation of electric current, that´s why the marketing guys have called it "e-CVT". The gears are also simulated by controlling the rpm of the ICE. Please don´t give false information to your viewers. There are people who hate CVT´s and will never test drive an HONDA Hybrid because of you.
Tucson had a disadvantage, it was the cheap trim level. The top version one has leather seats and you CAN drop down the back seats from a lever, that works.
I got the kia, after testing all others, and the formentor, and peugeut, VW's and whatnot. The kia is brilliant, does everything amazingly, and i think it looks the best out of all. I recomment the sportage to anyone

I have the KIA Sportage and personally think it's a close call between the 2. Tucson definitely has a nicer rear. One thing I'm certain of though, is that Mat thinking the Honda is the best looking , is far from how I see it.
I have one in the same trim and chose it over the Kia for the looks, I guess that's subjective. I think a lot of the decisions made come down to spec provided on the day unfortunately, which makes it less helpful to prospective buyers as they may not buy in the trim tested
Great Indepth review Matt! Having just go the Nissan e-power, i am very happy that I made the right choice for my requirements based on your feedback. I had all these four cars in my mind and ended up with Nissan and loving it!!
I test drove several SUVs and chose Hyundai Tucson ultimate self charge hybrid 230bhp with leather trim, pan opening roof and loads of tech including heat/cooling seats with memory etc……what a great car it is😊
I noticed the Tucson in this video is the SE (entry model), not the N-Line nor Premium which would compare better feature, trim and interior comfort-wise with the others here.
Tucson Ultimate HEV gives 50+ mpg and is very comfortable and doesn't have any rattles. Only complaint is skinnier tyres due to size of electric motor and battery but the ride is decent.
Went this week and tested all of them except Honda Hrv, i tries the CRV. Tucson is the best in my opinion. Kia was really bad for me as a tall person. The stering wheel is too up front, even with lots of chair adjustment it wasn't comfortable. Also I was slightly touching the roof of the car. I am 187cm tall.
Completely agree I tested a sportage twice and didn't like the interior space either. I'm 6ft 5 in the end I purchased a Tucson N line after my first drive, it's miles better for space and a more comfortable ride.
As someone who just bought a 2023 Tucson Elite 1.6L T and loves it, my heart hurts a little watching parts of this video. 😂 Personally love the Tucson design-wise the most out of the models in this video and find some of the other SUVs design weird; but of course that's all subjective. Many new vehicles are designed in more unique ways these days with such 'out there' shape choices, but it's interesting seeing where they're being taken and what's appealing to the general populace.
I have recently tried the kia sportage, Honda HRV, Nissan qashqai, and toyota corolla cross. For me the qashqai was the best by far. The new e-power technology is super smooth because there is no gearbox. The throttle response is always super smooth and linear even if the engine kicks in. As a Toyota hybrid owner, this isn't always the case. Anyway I think the worst 2 are the Toyota corolla cross (not reviewed here) and the Honda HRV because they are extremely noisy when accelerating and are super noise at pretty much any speed. Perhaps they will be the most reliable but in terms of having a nice driving experience try out the qashqai you may be surprised. Cheers. :)
After having a honda and having changed to a toyota, now i have changed to the kia sportage hev and honestly it's surprising me on the positive side, but most people look at the kia of the past and don't even give a chance to the kia which in my opinion doesn't it has nothing to do with the past.
Strange how everyone finds the Tucson a great looking car except for Matt 🤦♂️ I saw them all in real life, if i didn’t know the badges I would assume the Tucson is 10k more expensive just based on the exterior, it’s waaay better than the others. The sportage looks like a small hatchback from behind
The Tuscon in India is much more premuim compared to which u have shown,Got the beige leather interiors, extra features like the boss mode, panaromic sunroof, rear ac vents, different alloy design, and even a 4x4
Over here in India it’s almost 10 lakhs(10,000 pounds) more Also that beige interior is tougher to maintain then a Land Rover plus Ik doesn’t require cooled seats and has larger and better alloys.
Had my Sportage for a month and really enjoying it - the Hybrid doesnt do bad for MPG, not as good as a diesel, but for the size of car. Does have some niggles (like the one button for the sunshade and the opening roof) , but overall, very competent.
Last year I was shopping for an SUV. Really wanted the Tucson, but after 5 month wait I started to look at what's available. Someone didn't buy a reserved Qashqai Tekna. I took it right away and I couldn't be happier. It's an awesome car. Looks very nice and not that common. Love it.
i have an ok paying job in my european country but back in the days my parents with much less stress at work managed to change cars every couple of years. Now basic cars cost a years salary.. A salary which needs to pay living expenses
Honda HR-V is a subcompact crossover SUV (B-segment) and the other ones are the next level (C-segment). You should have take the CR-V model for an accurate comparison.
I love the design language of Tucson its way 2 futuristic... 2nd sportage 3rd qashqai 4th hrv No offend just personal preference...today i totally disagree with u mat
Honda HRV for UK market looks nice, very different to my country who actually get the panoramic glass roof but it is so annoying because for front passenger/driver it uses a cover that can be pulled out manually and is still quite practical, while for the rear passengers it actually gets a manual cover board which is very impractical only for panoramic glass roof, and I know Mat will yeeeet the cover board because there is no proper storage space inside cabin for that annoying manual board cover
I think there is a mistake here: 12:41. The 230 hp hybrid engine of Kia/Hyundai is connected to a 6-speed automatic, not a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox.
Great stuff! Now they need to do one with the German mid-range (50-60K) SUV’s as well. Would be nice to get a good comparison, really like these type of videos!
Great video as always Matt. But, like others, can't understand why the Mazda CX-5 wasn't included when you rated it better than than the Sportage in a previous video?

An owner of the old HR-V (named Vezel in Japan though). It's always more like a sporty hatchback than a SUV to me; don't know about the newer one though. I thought the Nissan would win the test. A little surprised!
Saying that Sportage has much better seats than Tucson while comparing entry level seats on Tucson and GTline seats on Sportage and not mentioning it doesn't make any sense. Quite a big oversight for someone like you.
Definitely agree with your verdict, Matt. Like the Kia. The Nissan is I think the prettiest. I don’t like the looks of the Honda myself. And I think the Hyundai is odd looking; I thought the older Tucson was handsome, but not this one.
We was looking at all of these and other than the infotainment the hyudai felt like it was built alot better than the rest (we didn't look at the honda) it also felt more plush than a tiguan. The Kia felt more plasticky and cheaper inside and the nissan felt a bit last gen inside
@123silentassassin not saying it was bad it looked more modern but felt cheaper, although they both felt nicer than a tiguan. We ended up not getting it but I was pleasantly surprised by the Koreans
Definitely missing Peugeot 3008 🦁 in there as it's nicer than all these . Really nice drive too and quicker in Hybrid 300. I seen winter ❄️ test on RUclips different channel and 3008 Hybrid kicked others ass easy in performance. There was Hyundai Tucson Hybrid, RAV4 Hybrid and 3008 Hybrid. 3008 was easy winner 🏆
Personally know 2 people with significant problems with the Tucson. One caught fire and the other just died on the highway and got rear-ended because it was so sudden. One person still fighting Hyundai over a replacement/refund and the other had it on lease and went with the small Lexus suv. Luck of the draw I guess.
Nah, it's the Škoda Karoq all the way for me. All of these are great but they each have a deal-breaker, whereas the Karoq... it just works perfectly for me.

Hilarious in the Nissan when it talks to you. My 23 Altima here in the US does that as well. Also announces weather alerts that are 50 miles away lol
Previous generations of both Sportage and Tucson are way better looking imo.
I agree
I actually like how Tucson look. But i'll buy Honda couse its cheaper.
And better to be fair, Japanese cars are so well built, but people prefer a giant 300 inch screen...
Carwow agrees with so many other journalists that the KIA Sportage deserves to be the compact SUV of the year.
Completely agree Matt, ordered my Kia HEV last July, so glad you’ve confirmed it’s the best affordable family suv.
My girlfriend had a 2019 Hyundai Sonata and it literally caught on fire.
KIA and Hyundai have MAJOR fire safety issue.
@@newchannel1220 who asked?
bus is a better and cheaper option and less embarrassing
Friends got a new Qashqai and the interior is 👌🏻
Mat you have been smashing it with the content lately!
Cheers. :)
Funny thing is that design-wise HRV looks really like previous gen Tucson.
I beg to differ , think that Hyundai looks much slicker than the rest , taste is subjective.
Great comparison but it would be nice to see also prices of these cars with the same equipment.
Better and more accurate title: *The BEST crossovers you can buy?*
Yep. I don't class any of these as an SUV.
really? theyre fucking huge as they are, way too big for our small roads
@@DethThrasher1 They're slightly inflated hatchbacks/estates on tiny stilts.
@@DethThrasher1 huge? You cannot fit taller adults in back and boots are not big enough for 5 day family trip.

I vote for Kia. I'm very happy with my new Sportage. My other option was Alfa Romeo Tonale but there was 7 month waiting list.
The kia is horrible, i'd rather whait 3 years to have a tonale over that thing
@@pablonavaridas3302 your opinion is in the minority

I watched a lot of your reviews. Good and down to earth. And this guy always makes me smile.
I'll pick the Hyundai Tuscan , cause here in South Africa🇿🇦 (Plug-in let alone Hybrids are not that big in our market yet ) so it will be the Hyundai
After having a honda and having changed to a toyota, now i have changed to the kia sportage hev and honestly it's surprising me on the positive side, but most people look at the kia of the past and don't even give a chance to the kia which in my opinion doesn't it has nothing to do with the past.
Strange how everyone finds the Tucson a great looking car except for Matt 🤦♂️
I saw them all in real life, if i didn’t know the badges I would assume the Tucson is 10k more expensive just based on the exterior, it’s waaay better than the others.
The sportage looks like a small hatchback from behind
Everybody I know thinks it's hideous!
The wheel arches ruin it and the front is a bit boring. Otherwise it's a decent vehicle.
Interior KIA 🏁
Exterior Hyundai 🏁
I think the new CR-V would be a better comparison.
It would be fairer to test the Honda CR-V rather than the HR-V which is smaller than the three rivals that it is up against.
True l
True, but for the same spec, it's significantly more expensive here in the Netherlands.
The Tuscon in India is much more premuim compared to which u have shown,Got the beige leather interiors, extra features like the boss mode, panaromic sunroof, rear ac vents, different alloy design, and even a 4x4
yeah but after sales is horrible here
Over here in India it’s almost 10 lakhs(10,000 pounds) more
Also that beige interior is tougher to maintain then a Land Rover plus Ik doesn’t require cooled seats and has larger and better alloys.
@@kaustubhnarkar yes. Sales are dropping by 599 percent.

We also have all that, but he just chose this one to fit the price range so it can be relevant
Had my Sportage for a month and really enjoying it - the Hybrid doesnt do bad for MPG, not as good as a diesel, but for the size of car. Does have some niggles (like the one button for the sunshade and the opening roof) , but overall, very competent.
Had a Sportage and engine caught fire suddenly. Never buy HYUNDAI again.

Last year I was shopping for an SUV. Really wanted the Tucson, but after 5 month wait I started to look at what's available. Someone didn't buy a reserved Qashqai Tekna. I took it right away and I couldn't be happier. It's an awesome car. Looks very nice and not that common. Love it.

The way Mat was hooning the HR-V down that country road between 30:17 - 30:30 seemed like so much fun. 😂
Apart from the noise from the engine/generator because of the poorly setup CVT gearbox, I won’t even consider the Honda because of it.

Honda HR-V is a subcompact crossover SUV (B-segment) and the other ones are the next level (C-segment). You should have take the CR-V model for an accurate comparison.

I like the Hyundai design. Better than the Kia and the Nissan. But yes, the Honda looks nice too.
neither is a bad car a matter of taste and money...Kia and Hyundai they are making excellent progress
I love the design language of Tucson its way 2 futuristic...
2nd sportage
3rd qashqai
4th hrv

Agree with you. Although I'd give joint first to Tucson and Sportage.
1. Rav4
2. CX-5
3. HRV
4. the rest of the crap
And most of people
Honda HRV for UK market looks nice, very different to my country who actually get the panoramic glass roof but it is so annoying because for front passenger/driver it uses a cover that can be pulled out manually and is still quite practical, while for the rear passengers it actually gets a manual cover board which is very impractical only for panoramic glass roof, and I know Mat will yeeeet the cover board because there is no proper storage space inside cabin for that annoying manual board cover
Please do a review with RAV4 and Mazda CX-5
I think there is a mistake here: 12:41. The 230 hp hybrid engine of Kia/Hyundai is connected to a 6-speed automatic, not a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox.
Great stuff! Now they need to do one with the German mid-range (50-60K) SUV’s as well. Would be nice to get a good comparison, really like these type of videos!

Great video as always Matt. But, like others, can't understand why the Mazda CX-5 wasn't included when you rated it better than than the Sportage in a previous video?
really matt tucson looks the best out of all of them I own the tucson and the only reason I bought it was its design its sooooooooooooooooo good my reatting is the exact opposite of yurs
An owner of the old HR-V (named Vezel in Japan though). It's always more like a sporty hatchback than a SUV to me; don't know about the newer one though.
I thought the Nissan would win the test. A little surprised!
Hyundai Tucson becomes the bestseller in its class in Europe, in 2022.
That's the first time I've heard the sportage called "plasticky and cheaper inside"
@123silentassassin not saying it was bad it looked more modern but felt cheaper, although they both felt nicer than a tiguan. We ended up not getting it but I was pleasantly surprised by the Koreans
the chevy suburban is the best family SUV ever built!! Though it doesn't get the greatest gas mileage and is pretty long!
