Marko's bass line transitioning into the second half of the intro.. that slide... gets me every single time. So much goodness. He is amazing the whole song.
The opera part that she was singing was recorded backing vocals only on the original (studio) version. So much better when Floor sings over the original track.
You nailed it Skullz. A song celebrating the human imagination and our need to stories of mystery and fantasy. If you like the topic "Loss of innocence" you will love many Nightwish songs. It is a favorite topic for Tuomas' musical compositions. Now you know what we meant by uplifting vocals. Loved your reaction to this wonderful song. Tuomas claims he was inspire to write this song by the 80's Christmas cartoon, The Snowman. It was very popular in Europe.

Pure Excellence. Tuomas is the Metal Mozart, Marco pounding that bass, Emppu solid on the guitar, Jukka hitting so powerfully on drums, and Floor, our Valkyrie Goddess of Metal to deliver it. :)

Yeah Nightwish, which, 95% is written by Tuomas, and really, a lot of symphonic metal bands, have no issue just throwing the standard set up over the edge and just doing whatever they feel, while still having plenty of songs that are closer to the standard way, like Elan or Nemo. Lot of collabs in the community, too. Like Floor is married to Hannes, Sabaton's drummer. She's on the end of their official video of Christmas Truce, which I definitely recommend :)
Floor Jansen - Lead singer. Tuomas Holopaninen (keyboard & composer & founder of Nightwish). Marco Hietala- Bassist / Singer Jukka Nevalainen - Drummer Emppu Vuorinen - Guitarist. Unfortunately Marco & Jukka have retired with health issues. Jukka is still involved with Nightwish Management & fans have fingers crossed for Marco’s return - however he also has issues with current music industry structures. The current drummer is Kai Hahto & the current bassist is Jukka Koskinen - both from Wintersun. Troy is the other current member of Nightwish who is a multi talented string & wind instruments player and singer too! Former lead singers Tarja & Annette and former & current band members all helped create the Nightwish Legacy. 🤘 Keep following the list and you will meet and appreciate them all!
I think Nightwish is one of those bands where you really love, appreciate, know and sorely miss every member when they leave. Jukka (drummer) our showman bullrider belongs to it and unfortunately also Marko the bass player and second singer next to Floor. All are loved equally. It's just like a real family.
Here for the music, here for the journey, wicked reaction analysis. 😎🤘Just love your reactions! Marko the Bassist is a god of the instrument, as are all the members within their own wheelhouse.
I caught up on your Tool selection for now, so was checking out some of what else you got going on... This is the first I've ever heard of Nightwish and this is EPIC!!! I've got a whole new band to immerse myself in!
Oh yeah they're great! I'm a big fan of orchestral compositions so this has been awesome! Their lyrics are very poetic and interesting from what I've read 💯
It certainly helps having a super-tight, super-talented set of musicians and a singer who can do just about anything - but Tuomas has this incredible gift for coming up with structures and arrangements that just wouldn't work in the hands of most other songwriters. That's definitely where it starts; then once those songs are in the hands of a band who know what to do with them, the sky's the limit!
This performance is perfection!! So cool to see how blown away you are :) Nightwish are such a special band that makes you feel emotion on a different level.
This is my 3rd time watching your reaction to this song. 😊 😆 This may be my favorite one of your reactions. ♥️ Just enjoying awesome past things while I’m trying to get over some godforsaken illness. 🤒 😷 🤘
Phenomenal ..really incredible outstanding as always an amazing instrumentals ...whoooo way to go lovely skullz ...amazing reaction thanku so much love and God bless always x
It's hard to choose, but I keep coming back to this song as my favorite of all of theirs. It's just amazing. I love how you can find a different quality to focus on in each of their songs. There's something different about all of them, but all of them are easily recognizable as Nightwish.
I think there's a lot of "happy music" that feels hollow these days which is why they don't land a lot of the time for me. Comes across as naive or something. But Nightwish clearly takes the dark sides of life seriously enough for this to feel earned! I think it might be my favorite song so far! 🔥
No two songs are the same. When you think you know what will happen next...you are wrong. The lyrics are as important as the music. "WHAT?", "OH MY GOD!!", "I have to HEAR that AGAIN". Just a few of the most common things said during a Nightwish reaction.
Hey, thanks for your great reaction. Somehow this song makes me happy and sad in the same time, but I love this awesome song. Greetings from Tampere, Finland. Stay safe!
Song structure is for pop and radio. Pre-produced bite-sized 3m20s things that are easy to forget. This is metal, it takes a bit more energy to listen to and appreciate, and the song structure can be anything really. These songs tells stories, and stories don't always follow the same established beats.
Here's what I imagine on each part of the song. Fantasy world type of movie style. Intro & verses - the great villain is unleashing his super powers to defeat his opponent (the savior in the movie). Chorus - the savior discovers his super powers and the 1st one that he tried is to fly up in the air on a faithful moonlit night. Bridge (operatic part) - the villain and the savior's ultimate epic fight. The savior won then an interesting twist happened at the end of the battle (in a wonderful way). Vocal outro - epic style of ending credits (then post credit scene shows up.. maybe for a sequel)
I would absolutely love to see this band live. It's still my dream to see Floor Jansen, Amy Lee and Lzzy Hale do an entire concert together. If you haven't reacted to it yet, you should try out "Shoemaker". It's amazing.
I think you are one of the only reactors that actually grabbed on to the carnival thing. Tuomas said that he wanted the tour to be one big carnival ride. I think he talks about it in the documentary: Please learn the set list in 48 hours(to Floor), it's a great way to experience Floor's joining Nightwish.

This is our Valkyrie Goddess for you. And you witnessed first hand a "Dutch Windmill" and you felt it 😁, and to finish you off, The Operatic "Cruise Missile" !!!! Awesome tune , although it is kind of a popish sound (originally sung by Anette and operatic part was done by children's choir ), but Floor gave it soooo much POWER !!! Our Metal Mozart Tuomas Holopainen (founder, leader, keyboardist and songwriter of Nightwish) is the main composer for Nightwish. Tuomas the keyboardist writes about 95% of Nightwish songs, music and lyrics. He also composes the music for the backing track they use. It is recorded in London with musicians from The London Philharmonics. Pip Williams helps with the orchestration. There are two London based choirs too on the backing track, the other one is a children's choir. And of course with a synth you can do a lot. Marko Hietala "The Viking" is a Finnish heavy metal vocalist, bassist and songwriter (sadly not part of the band now, but there is hope, that he will come back). Internationally, best known as the former bassist, male vocalist and secondary composer to Tuomas Holopainen, of the symphonic metal band Nightwish. He was also the vocalist and bassist as well as composer and lyricist for the heavy metal band Tarot. He was also a member of the supergroup Northern Kings, and portrayed one of the main characters in Ayreon's 2013 album The Theory of Everything. Nightwish lyrics are often a bit interpretive, and not as "straight forward" as many other bands, because Tuomas prefers people to put their own interpretations and life experiences into the lyrics. you connect with songs on a personal level when there is something there that relates to things you have gone/are going through, and you may even find new connections later on in life when you have gone through other big events/emotions. there might be songs you are quite indifferent about (oh, nice song) and then you go through something big and all of a sudden it makes you break down in tears because now you relate to something in the lyrics you didn't before, and see it from a whole new perspective. imagination and life experiences are powerful, and Tuomas has great appreciation of this. Hail Nightwish 🤘😎🤘. NWSU.
Just an update on their names, Tuomas = keyboards, Floor = vocals (duh?), Marco = Bass/vocals, Emppu = guitar, Jukka = drums. I really enjoy your reactions. Keep up the good work.
NIGHTWISH AND MEGADETH?? 🔥 FLOOR SINGING LIKE A SIREN? MARCO SINGING HEAVY SOLO? 🤘🏻 My suggestion is another cover of them, which we HARDLY see on RUclips.🇳🇱 And if you like a HEAVY Nightwish sound, this will be a very nice one! 🔥🤘🏻😎 Marco is singing solo on this one. Check out their cover of Megadeth, symphony of destruction. AND A HEAVY SIREN FLOOR & MARCO? The second also hardly on RUclips, is a heavy Siren, The Siren performed live of course by Floor Jansen, and also again a very good singing Marco🔥❤️🤘🏻 Enjoy it, and I with you!
I absolutely LOOOOOVVVEEEE this song ! So thank you for your awesome reaction - well done ! Please check out "high hopes" live from helsinki - a pink floyd tribute with Marco on lead vocals - Thank you ❤🔥🤩
You've got the vibes of Wacken now 😂. Now maybe you should check out another concert of NW too. "Yours is an empty hope" live from Wembley would be a killer - unexpected for you, promised 😁😁😁. Hi there, big fan here, one tip ,if you wanne hear Empu play guitar more, listen to high hopes,a cover from pink floyd,Marko is singing and Empu plays crazy guitar, its better than the original.
Floor always the highlight? Ok; The Islander (Tampere) While Your Lips Are Still Red (Tampere) High Hopes (2005 live) Ghost River Song of Myself Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean from Buenos Aires I could go on...
You ponder why the changes just seem to work? to quote another perceptive reactor Chase C....because Tuomas is musically and emotionally up in the sky...above the rest of us mere mortals. Just surrender to it. You will be reborn into a better world!
The song structure is based on the “Tuomas Formula”, which ends up meaning, “whatever Tuomas feels”. Epic. 😄🤘

NIGHTWISH AND MEGADETH?? 🔥
FLOOR SINGING LIKE A SIREN?
MARCO SINGING HEAVY SOLO? 🤘🏻
My suggestion is another cover of them, which we HARDLY see on RUclips.🇳🇱
And if you like a HEAVY Nightwish sound,
this will be a very nice one! 🔥🤘🏻😎
Marco is singing solo on this one.
Check out their cover of Megadeth, symphony of destruction.
AND A HEAVY SIREN FLOOR & MARCO?
The second also hardly on RUclips, is a heavy Siren, The Siren performed live of course by Floor Jansen, and also again a very good singing Marco🔥❤️🤘🏻
Enjoy it, and I with you!
I absolutely LOOOOOVVVEEEE this song ! So thank you for your awesome reaction - well done ! Please check out "high hopes" live from helsinki - a pink floyd tribute with Marco on lead vocals - Thank you ❤🔥🤩
A lot of what Tuomas writes is about the lost innocence of youth, often referencing Peter Pan, Alice and the Dead Boy, who is Tuomas 🤘
Hells, I fu
Right behind floor is the imaginaerum sign. This is from that album. Tuomas put this album into a movie.
You've got the vibes of Wacken now 😂. Now maybe you should check out another concert of NW too. "Yours is an empty hope" live from Wembley would be a killer - unexpected for you, promised 😁😁😁. And to get an idea of Symphonic Metal, please react to EPICA "Kingdom of Heaven Part 3" Omega Alive. NW and Epica are THE benchmarks of that genre. Both mindblowing.
We all love Floor Jansen the Queen ❤️
Working your way down the list? Gabe's list? If so, enjoy the ride!
Alpenglow, Tears Back might be your speed if you connect with this topic.
I like the Anette version, its catchy, poppy and a little bit creepy. Floors version just has the wow factor.
Great reaction. Anyway, can i request your reaction to superb band from japan?

They all The Beautiful Queens heavy metal band right now in the earth. They are really really World class musicians. Phenomenal.

Ghost River
Song of Myself
Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean from Buenos Aires

You ponder why the changes just seem to work? to quote another perceptive reactor Chase C....because Tuomas is musically and emotionally up in the sky...above the rest of us mere mortals. Just surrender to it. You will be reborn into a better world!
How does it work? Tuomas! Nuff said.
Composed by Metal-Mozart Tuomas. What else could you expect? 😂😂😂
