Its because you "got where ever you were going and got whatever you needed while the blood was still flowing" LOL! Nah seriously I think we can all relate to these lyrics. They save more than you know.
Has been my favorite since their End Sessions recording with 107.7. If you like acoustic alternatives look up 107.7 End Sessions. Lots of great bands and amazing songs.
+mikethe4th I truly envy you i have seen them live three times, the whole concert it's always a beautiful experience, but the best part for me are always those last songs they play in acoustic version, everytime it's always so raw and honest, a whole show like that must be unmatchable.
Totally jealous was that for the Pagans tour? My wife was talking to someone and he mentioned this acoustic concert when she mentioned we were heading to see them in SF.
This is one song where I LOVE both the original and the acoustic version, I really couldn't pick which is better. But this song pops into my head, it's usually the moment @4:10 that jumps out to me. The simplicity there is SO good.
Everytime I listen to this song I cant help but cry. A vocal reminder of the young man whom passed away and heart is now beating like a hammer in my chest. Such a selfless beautiful gift he has given me. So I shed tear of sorrow and joy to live life for the both of us.
I think this song defines and perfectly describes all the anxiety I've ever felt in in my life in dealing with people. In under six minutes...holy shit.
It took going into a coffee shop and getting my daily dose of Caffeine to find METRIC. I started conversing with someone about like music and they suggested I try it out. Glad I did. Their music stays with me all day long unless I finish the song off. Few groups can do this.
When I 1st heard this song I thought it would sound really good acoustic! I didn't know this was even here till two days later.. Better than I dared hope! Pretty much spot on!!!!!!!!!!
i saw them tonight in providence with cage the elephant and airborne toxic event. there were only two members of the band and they played a full acoustic set. it was amazing
found this song through the recent unos commercial. made me think of my father who passed 32 years ago at age 52 of a heart attack. may all our hearts continue beating like a 🔨
Cool name, hey sorry bout your father, lost mine swiftly to cancer when i was 13, knew a friend whose dads passed similar to yours while driving no less. Just lost a childhood friend who was only 40, same fate. Add another Army buddy who died under 40 from "self medicating" It is important to cherish those close to you, i hope you have good people that know and appreciate you, take it easy and remember the lessons taught, how the fallen lived, represent them with your actions and words, be well and RIP to our fathers, yeah cancer dad was step dad, a week after he passed, my biological father shot himself in the head. Life sucks, count the wins not the losses, oh and its not a race. Thanks, sorry for the novel
why is it i am simply mezmorized by Metric - I first heard Black Sheep on the film "Scott Pilgrim" - and found out I missed out on a band I love to listen to all the time. How can this be 15 years old? So much talent out there I have still to learn and listen to before I die. Thank you for this acoustic version - its quite beautiful. I do love the original with the hypnotic pulsing drum beat - it got me through my morning slog with my hears still beating like a hammer ;) - you see what I did there? thank you Metric :)
me encanta;) saludos a mis amigos en alemania, les extrano mucho. la canccion me recuerda a ustedes y nuestra tiempo. gracias amigos, las tres pasados anos estaban increible y nos vemos en siete meses.
How is it no one but me believes this song Is a secret tribute to zombies? "If I stumble, their gonna eat me alive, my heart still beats" "help I'm alive" I mean, you hear this during the last frame of the final episode of the Walking Dead, as they're all eaten. You're gonna cry.
I absolutely hate not being able to sing to metric >.> Emily Haines' range is just too insanely massive. One of the best female voices of the decade imho.
i always find new awesome people to listen to from teh twilight saga. if it wasnt for there sound tracks I would never find these people to listen too. I LOVE this song!!! i will deff be listening to more of her!
It's cool to hear her voice in an acoustic setting. She is really talented.
❤❤🥺🥺🥺🥺🤗🥰🥰🥰❤❤❤
Flawless stuff!
this song saved me from soooooo much inner conflict.... truly magical
me too.
I agree :-) Its awesome and sweet and cool and magical it helped me too
Its because you "got where ever you were going and got whatever you needed while the blood was still flowing" LOL! Nah seriously I think we can all relate to these lyrics. They save more than you know.
how so?
Same!!!
How, for 13 years, did I never hear an acoustic version. This song means so, so much to me. Thank you Metric
✌🏻❤🇨🇦😜

When I saw them a year ago in Oakland, their equipment didn't get shipped so they played an acoustic set and opened with this.
wow! LUCKY! that must have been amazing. I listened to Metric for years before I discovered their acoustic stuff. Now I'm obsessed.
+mikethe4th I truly envy you i have seen them live three times, the whole concert it's always a beautiful experience, but the best part for me are always those last songs they play in acoustic version, everytime it's always so raw and honest, a whole show like that must be unmatchable.

Loved hearing this in Dying Light 2
"come take my pulse the pace is on a runaway train" and the faint guitar strumming in the back sounds just like a train intersection to me. perfect
This is by far the best zombie survival song ever written.
So raw, her voice is incredible, and here you can really hear it at its core. I love the piano she is playing on also.
I can feel all the emotion in her voice much better in the acoustic version. this is beautiful.
Incredible….. brings me back to my late teen years
Her voice has a child-like playfulness/innocence to it. Love her!
Possibly one of the most gifted bands of our time
This is one song where I LOVE both the original and the acoustic version, I really couldn't pick which is better. But this song pops into my head, it's usually the moment @4:10 that jumps out to me. The simplicity there is SO good.
This is GREAT. I love when bands do an acoustic version of a rock type song and release it.
There is just something about her voice thats unique love this song.
Dying Light 2 has this amazing song in their demo walk-through they just released :) Glad it brought me here
God, I can't stop listening to her acoustic. It is so powerful 😍❤️😍❤️
Everytime I listen to this song I cant help but cry. A vocal reminder of the young man whom passed away and heart is now beating like a hammer in my chest. Such a selfless beautiful gift he has given me. So I shed tear of sorrow and joy to live life for the both of us.
Oh man, that's.... *heart* breaking lol
I think this song defines and perfectly describes all the anxiety I've ever felt in in my life in dealing with people. In under six minutes...holy shit.
Metric.... the best band... and she is so good... her voice is so naturallllll...
Her voice is just as beautiful 15 years ago as it is now. This song always speaks to me often
impressive...her voice is just amazing...she is a mezzo-soprano what else can i say...awesome
1st song I ever heard by Metric in '09 in Tower Records in Chicago-
... my whole body reacted and I immediately found out WHO IS THIS?!!
Beautiful music. Im so happy i got to hear it when it was new

This is a song that is just impactful and rings true.
The Chorus...soo beautiful...sniff sniff *and the white light shines*
never ever ever get tired of this song
Hard to be soft
Tough to be tender...
Her voice is so serene and beautiful.
Omg. that guy messed it up
When I 1st heard this song I thought it would sound really good acoustic! I didn't know this was even here till two days later.. Better than I dared hope! Pretty much spot on!!!!!!!!!!
How could you not LOVE THIS??????????
best song ever
This acoustic version is amazing for the musical metric; sublime for her voice; and, it transmits all the passion I needed for.
Magic sound in DL2!
It touched me. I've been feeling like this lately.
Beautiful. I am OBSESSED with her voice!
Emily has an exeptional voice. I really love to listen to this song over and over again and think who I am.
sounds so amazing , i swear , gimme sympathy and this song are just so beautiful when played acoustic
Hear that? That's the sound of perfection.
These acoustic versions, damn... those feels ❤
I think the drastic style changes are wonderful.
Emily can sing, that's for sure. I really, really like the intimate style of this video. Totally cool!
Especially love the beginning and ending "I tremble, they're gonna eat me alive. If I stumble, they're gonna eat me alive."
so beautiful. 0___0
Extraordinario tema, preciosa version
Hope they continue making songs like this!! She's too goddess just to disappear in oblivion of music. Come back to Argentina for new inspirationsss!!!
Emily is a great influence, I’ve seen her with Metric at least 5 times, great passion every time
i saw them tonight in providence with cage the elephant and airborne toxic event. there were only two members of the band and they played a full acoustic set. it was amazing
I absolutely love the very beginning of this song, I was waiting for it to come back in the song as a chorus or pre-chorus.

Beautiful and sublime version
I love Metric. They're great.
I wish I could've seen them at the free concert in Whistler

Thank RUclips for featuring this band. I've listened to so many of their songs now. I think I'm in love :)
This group really caught my attention when I heard the original version of "Help I'm Alive"......she has a beautiful voice.
I love love love love Metric.
i've seen them live like three times. she has awesome energy on stage and they're awesome :D
That voice. The melody. Wow.
Also this song is better than smells like teen spirit.
I like the drop of silence and the entrance of piano in the chorus. :)
I love the cinematography. The song too, of course.
This song was in an nba game. I can't remember the year but this was my favorite among all songs that year.

This song "Help I'm Alive" by Metric is used in the movie "Defendor" (2010). Love this song and great lyrics.
I could listen to this eleventeenth times a day!
This is awesome.
i love her voice:) its so raw
dude this version is sooo much better than the album version.
I absolutely hate not being able to sing to metric >.> Emily Haines' range is just too insanely massive. One of the best female voices of the decade imho.
I don't ever listen to this genre, but I have to say... amazing!
I think both are unique and awesome! It just depends on how im feeling at the moment that will determine which one i will listen to
Really love this song... and the unplugged version is really amazing!
I hope they use this song in "warm bodies" coming out in feb! It's perfect for the movie!
