  • Grass trimmer ready for an upgrade?
STIHL’s range of battery grass trimmers is one of the biggest in Australia with an impressive eight models. They’ve got you covered, whether you have a small courtyard in the city, a larger block in the suburbs, acreage in the county or if you’re a professional looking to make the switch.
One of the latest models to join STIHL’s impressive lineup of battery powered garden tools is this one, the FSA 60 R. It’s part of STIHL’s AK battery system which now has 11 tools in total, including lawn mowers, chainsaws, blowers and hedge trimmers, all of which are powered by the same battery system and suited to medium to larger sized gardens.
This grass trimmer is light and well-balanced, and being battery powered, there are no cables to drag around and no fuel to mix, all you need to do is pop the battery into the slot, and you’re ready to go. It also gives users the options of using an AutoCut mowing head or a PolyCut mowing head - must show both of these mowing heads when talking about them.
The AutoCut head is a great option if you’re looking to achieve that picture perfect edge around your lawn. If you’re one to let your grass get nice and long, then the the PolyCut head is great at slashing through thick lawn.
The adjustable shaft length also means you can set it to suit your height for comfortable operation, and this wire spacer guard is perfectly designed to meet the same length as the line, meaning you can trim right up to and around your fences, trees and play equipment without leaving any damage behind.
One of the biggest pain points that people find with grass trimmers is feeding line out from the head and reloading new line once it’s run out. Both of these problems aren’t an issue with the FSA 60 R. The mowing head simply needs a tap on a hard surface when the head is at full revs and new line automatically adjusts to the correct length. Once the line has run out, it can be refilled without opening the housing, simply feed through a length of line, turn the knob until its wound in then snip and you are ready to go!
And, when it comes to run time, this trimmer really can go the distance. On a single charge, it’s capable of trimming over 1.25km of lawn edges with the recommended battery.
This level of performance is the result of over 95 years of German engineering excellence, so if you are in the market for a new grass trimmer this Spring, then we’d suggest you make a visit to your local STIHL Dealer, the only place to buy STIHL tools.

perfectly ideal for senior people but for me 2 stroke is good all the way as i do larger land area jobs than that for sure.

Its as powerfull as the FS 38 and yet quieter, lighter, easier to start. With a full battery it'll do the same area as with a full tank of petrol.

Purchased one, i would say my 40V worx was actually more comfortable. It had auto feed line, this one you have to smash to ground to get the line out, it makes little sense because if you are smashing it on to ground with full RPM then you will leave a circular mark on your lawn. I mean where else would you hit it. I do agree it is really powerful, but a bit weird to hold because the shaft is straight with no curve at the end. Worx has curve towards the ground at the end and it makes it a bit more comfortable. One thing that pisses me is that the throttle response is too sensitive, if you try to run it in low rpm it acts weird, sometimes power goes off....need to get used to that. The trim head seems to bit a bit off balance, i get little vibrations of it. My Worx with only 1 string feels smoother. Dont get me wrong, it is a good tool, just need to get used to it. I was hoping a bit too much maybe because my other trimmer is half the price, not as powerful but i would say more comfortable.

You must not use a trimmer much. If it has a "curve" in the bottom as you say, it limits how you can use it. Straight shaft trimmers are more flexible because you can turn it to do edging or sculpting whereas a curved shaft really can only edge. If you try to spin it it's awkward to hold and clunky. All high end Stihl trimmers have a bump feed option. It's the most reliable and robust way to feed line.

I cant work out if he doesn't know how to use a whipper snipper properly or he's holding it at stupid angles for the camera

lol, you're barely cutting anything in these slow motion shots.
The lighting is good, the demonstration horrendous.

I enjoyed the last line of your marketing spiel most where you say "visit your local Stihl Dealer, the only place to buy Stihl tools."
In my experience that would be the complete opposite, in fact any Australian Stihl dealership is the hardest place to buy anything Stihl. China wants to sell and they have many identical Stihl products that you can actually buy, since Stihl make everything there now anyway.
Stihl Australia ensure that you won't buy their products unless they want you too, they kind of tool or part they want to sell and all in their own good time.
Its heartbreaking seeing the dealers hands tied - sale after sale walking away caused by the vacuous carbon blobs at Stihl Australia.
Buyer beware - don't expect any product choice or after sales assistance from Stihl Australia......

    Acquisto sbagliato.

Awful machine. Bump feeder hasn’t worked from day 1. Took it back to dealer but still didn’t work. Contacted Stihl directly and just washed their hands. Should’ve stuck to Husqvarna

Shit shit shit. I had to remove the head six times in half an hour due to the shit cord breaking. I went for the so called carbon line. SHIT! Buy Ryobi or some other cheap Chinese brand. I wasted my money on a stihl machine.

This thing is garbage. Battery lasts maybe 15-20 minutes. The fucking string sucks. The head is impossible to fucking remove.
I need 2 batteries just to cut the pond.
Im going back to gas. Honestly this isnt that much lighter than my ryobi
