I love that you add free mental time before child pick up. I think it's so important that we understand what our bodies need to keep from burn out and build it into our day to day life.

I wish somebody would have told me this when I was younger and new to being a parent. The early years were rough!

“I get tired in my head faster than regular people”. Omg you put it into words. For a few years I’ve really been struggling with anxiety and irrational frustration. I find I don’t deal with things as well as other people and that having a list of things to do makes me feel anxious and exhausts me to the point where doing just one more simple task feels like a huge burden. I spend way too much time laying down and being on my phone and i keep telling myself I want to do a technology detox. I think my brain really needs it. I like the idea of doing nothing for an hour a day and I really want to get into a yoga and meditation practice again.

This is a great video! I just recently started to journal everyday the three things I am grateful for. When I looked back at 2017 I realized that I had stopped living my life with gratitude. It does make a difference in your state of mind. I will begin to implement your other suggestions.

Gratitude journals are the best. Focusing on things you're grateful for first thing in the morning can set the tone for your entire day!

This is Dara, from Washington state in the US. Great reminders in this video, thank you! I've been watching your channels for a while, I love the practical (and realistic) advice for simple living. My husband, 5 year-old daughter and I recently watched all of the Iceland travel videos on your other channel. We will be traveling to Iceland this summer and we enjoyed seeing where you went and what you thought, we have officially added the Golden Circle to our itinerary after seeing your video. I'm sure the landscape will look quite a bit different in the summertime, but still beautiful! Thank you!

Don't forget the way our grandparents relaxed: through prayer. When I had problems, my grandmother would always say "kiss it up to God" - and when I finally did release my problems & give them to God; I realized I actually felt the weight lift off my shoulder & I was free to begin to be grateful for all the things in my life that had worked out. After all, none of us is an island & we are never truly alone! Prayer has served my through 47 years of marriage & I know it will carry me to my last breath!

    Hi Maria!
I love watching your videos with the great topics you "discuss". I have been watching your videos for quite a while now and find them very interesting and useful.
I myself live on the Swedish west coast and feel that the danish people have a lot to give to us "Swedes" . Love the word "Hygge" for example. (we don't have a similar word for it in Swedish.)
I hope you and Morten will continue doing the great work you do... Thank you!

Hi, thanks for your video. I'm trying to reduce my stress and live a simpler life that fits more to me and with my priorities more clear. After years of great efforts to stabilize my work, now I want to let go all those things that I don't really need...I don't want to run as fast as I did for many years
..I hope now I can work in serenity and help my little girls to grew up loved and brave, because life can be so difficult...I want to finally find peace and offer them "a safe place" too...thanks for your words

Hi! Love your videos and energy:) I’m a Swedish expat now living in Australia and have been following minimalist living tips for many years. I randomly found one of your minimalist videos about 6 months ago and love your tips and tricks. I work for myself as a career coach and am very much designing a lifestyle and job that allows me to split my time between Australia and Scandinavia, as I’m fortunate enough to have a heart that belongs in both places! Keep up your great videos :)

This makes sense! One or 2 times a week I make social plans which seems to be the right amount for me. I also make sure to have practical habits to compete i.e. take out trash every week and clean off the table and other boring things. If my house is clean I feel more relaxed which is tough because I am not naturally neat! ;)

I am more than lucky to discover your channel and your videos. You know, I've been adoring your work in a past year, and it greatly impacted my world afterwards.
I'm a big journaler too, but it's rather hard to keep writing from day to day right now. However, these steps are worth to try. Bunch of thanks for sharing! xoxo

What a helpful video? I understand if you’re not interested in this type of video as it would be personal and may not fit in with your channel, but I would love to hear more about how you recently lost weight. I’m down about 12 lbs, but I’ve hit a plateau. Hearing about healthy habits others have made is always inspiring! ☺️

Loving your channel! I am currently a mom of 2 boys and have another boy on the way 95% sure this is our last. I found this very helpful! Would love to see room tours! I watched a couple of your kid decluttering and it's inspired me to go more cuz I've been finding myself stressed about the toys...and I don't believe toys need to be all over the house, unless they are currently playing with them. ☺️

Great strategies, Maria! Wonderful timing for me, as I am devoting time today to working out some strategies and ways to simplify our family life, as there has been a great deal of stress in the last few months due to preparing for thedemolition of our house, planning for our house build and managing our family responsibilities. I am a firm believer that the majority of problems have a simple solution, and that you just need to take the time to think about it and to consider your options. I already use some of the strategies that you mentioned, and will try out the additional ones. Thankyou!

One day I'll be free to travel and I would LOVE to go to a meetup with you guys. I watch your traveling channel with my 4yo, so she is familiar with your little one. I also have a baby. This video was great. I'm terrible at slowing down! I breathe and make lists. I started the gratitude thing with my 4yo this year. We love it!

I listen to positive information, such as inspirational quotes, affirmations and play uplifting music at work. This way, when my brain does eat junk food, I am healthy overall. Anything outside of my power simply doesn't get my attention, and allows me to control my own happiness.

The only way to truly reduce stress is to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. I have suffered my whole life with anxiety and stress and have read 100's of books on the topic and tried everything but to my amazement accepting Jesus did it. The peace of God transcends everything. I'm not exhadurating. When you truly know that God is in control and works all things for the good of those that love Him it is hard to be that stressed! How to be saved. Romans 10-9-11 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
If you are not convinced just ask Jesus to show you that He is real. My life has been transformed. God bless you all.

nic c This is the truth. I tried solving my stress and impatience problem on my own for years. Accepting Jesus and sincerely praying for change has been the only thing that has changed my heart in a relatively short time. I have true joy and peace on a regular basis. I had a hard life and dealt with serious depression all my life. I have a "down" day every now and then, but I never get into the lows that I used to on a regular basis. I'm so grateful.

People can believe in Jesus, become disciples, and still be stressed! Try reading the Epistles of Paul - there were many times he was stressed - stressed but not broken. It all depends how God is stretching, teaching and employing you! Learning some of these stress reduction techniques of Maria's is a wonderful idea; they are very good ones. They don't mean one doesn't believe in Jesus!
