In 1990 this song was played at my hospital bed by friends who brought me out of a coma. And I still love it all these years later. Thank you girls for your love and saving me.
Thank you Fergal. It has been tough since that accident. I've had 45 back surgical operations since falling three flights of stairs in the Air Force. It was classy and wise to include Ronald Isley. The Isley Brothers had the original *hit* record with this song in 1966, but it was actually not written by the Isleys but by one of the biggest hitmaking songwriting teams ever, Motown powerhouse Holland-Dozier-Holland: Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier, and Eddie Holland, with a credited contribution by another very successful Motown writer, Sylvia Moy.
and for 25 bonus points and a move into the WILD CARD round to win a two week trip to TAHITI ! .... Just who are the three beautiful Sweeties back up dancers ????
Of course, Ronald Isley killed this song, released in 1966 by the Isley Brothers. While Rod Stewart's performance is enjoyable it does not reach the plateau of the Isley Brothers. This is life, the new generation has no idea of what was before; just like Darlene Love singing "Christmas, Baby Please Come Home", (1963) there are some good versions, but that will never reach her standard.
As a HUGE fan of Rod Stewart, I was blessed to be brought up with my parents music because they were younger when I was born and we are a very musical family. so I feel like one of the fortunate ones to experience the 50s, 60s .... thru 80s and appreciate all that true talent. Music today is pretty sad and cookie cutter and you don't have to have true talent like musicians before them. Same with jazz. I'm a huge fan of Miles Davis. I have a hard time appreciating Kenny G as a jazz artist. JMHO. 🎼🎵🎶🎤🎷🎺
Rod with Ronald was pure gold and struck and stuck with anyone who still cares about real singers and not just some kind of no talent rapper. Wish i could go back to the 70s and 80s. Miss when music was something that moved you

Great

Gary Lorber ...Rod recorded an earlier version of this song, it was much slower and to be honest it wasn't very good. This made up for it....big time!
This song was an oldie from the sixties
