I agree with all of the posts about the BC debate bringing them here. To me, he won the debate because of HOW he debated Billy Carson. Very respectful; never debased himself or the cause of Christ by resorting to name calling; never took the bait to become argumentative; Wes Huff was just stern in his convictions and gracious in his delivery! A lesson for all of us who preach or evangelize.
Amen. So many apologists lol go “destroy” the other person. I can’t stand it. It’s so unChrist-like. Wes glorified God by what he said, how he said it, and what he didn’t say.
I like many others here in the comment section, am now blessed to have been introduced to Wes Huff due to the Billy Carlson debate. Grace and peace of our Messiah Yeshua to you and your loved ones Wes.
Carson wanted it for his good but God wanted the debate to happen so that His name could be glorified. You represented us like you were supposed to do and God bless you brother.
I am glad to have found you after the debate, as well as that you have made several videos on questions I have. Thank you for your hard work. It is appreciated.
As a Zimbabwean I personally trust the Bible the Ethiopians had, not all the way because I haven’t read it all. But my heart tells me Christianity was an African religion. The area we now call the Middle East is on Africas tectonic plate. We know white washing happened so even the biblical races are misunderstood by most.
The Ethiopian bible is by far the most ethically and morally superior bible of all. Even from the beginning, for example , King James version blames Eve (women) for original sin. In the Ethiopian bible the serpent seduces both of them at the same time. There are other major differences like when Moses came down from Mt. Sinai and witnessed the Hebrews worshipping the golden calf. In KJV Moses becomes a genocidal maniac and instructs the Hebrews to slay one another. In the Ethiopian bible Moses comes down from the Mt. witnesses the Hebrews worshiping the golden calf but instead speaks logically to them about why their behavior is wrong. I can continue on and on but we can see that the dark age Europeans apparently needed some increased level of mass violence. If you read any history about medieval Europe you'll see why that is. Also the worship of Yeshua predates the written testimony by at least hundreds of years. It was orally transmitted as it was during Yeshuas time. Yeshua did not like the scribes writing a book of laws and called them hypocrites for doing so and not abiding by the rules they themselves have written. The indigenous Judeans did not need a book because the covenant was written into the fabric of their culture. The Jews who Yeshua spent accosting were the ones who needed the book bc they were converts. Yeshua told them they were not sons of Abraham which is directly calling out their ancestry. They grabbed rocks and were ready to slay him where he stood but Yeshua ran and hid. The Jews eventually got what they wanted and to this day admit that it was them, so there is no confusion about who is who and what they did.
@selammengistu4403 i can't believe my original response got deleted. I'll keep it simple and ask a question. Why did Michaelangelo depict a pregnant mother Mary as an unmistakable Ethiopian woman on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel?

My hypothesis is that the forgers of Enoch took a legit prophecy and used it for page one of Enoch to gain credibility. It even reads like a snippet from Deuteronomy and page one reads very differently from the rest of it. Jude was quoting the prophecy, not endorsing the whole book.
BINGO! Wess has got it wrong..he conflates the quoting of a verse to endorsing the book. The Quran also quotes OT and NT, that doesn't mean we endorse it!
My thoughts too. Jude said explicitly he was quoting the person of Enoch, not a book that’s falsely attributed to Enoch. This if the quote originated from the book then Jude is a liar.
Hello Wes, just discovered your channel after the Billy debate and I must say wow you truly are an expert, this video is very well put together and I’ve always been curious about first Enoch due to the book being quoted in the Bible and the words nephilim being mentioned likewise, do you think there are any parallels between the annunaki, and Greek mythology story, as well as other myths mirroring the book of Enoch such as beings coming down, interacting with mankind, and producing “supernatural” beings such as nephilim like the Bible mentions ?
@@VeritasSēker wes... Billy does have Some Merit.. One has to do some research. All those religious books or most are based of an old manuscripts but no one can say where the manuscripts get its source information from nor where can they be located or who wrote the manuscripts... Jesus also referenced the book of Enoch. ( Mark 12:18-27). When Jesus tells the Sadduces you asked this because you misunderstand scripture and that we do not marry in heaven, nowhere in the Bible except for Enoch does it describe it angelic order and that we do not marry in Heaven. So that proves that Enoch was a book that the disciples and Pharisees were familiar with.
If book of Enoch is full of lie and we(Ethiopian) who have it are not saved... Jude the apostle is also not saved. Since he quoted from book of enoch.(Jud 1:14-15) . that is it.
Exactly. -Either Enoch the Seventh from Adam prophesied or he didn't. (Jude) -Either he was one of the holy men of God who spoke the Word of God as he was moved by the Holy Ghost, or he wasn't. (Peter)
I have loved watching Billy get swamped by the truth, but here in this video my own errors were exposed. I have referred to Enoch on multiple occasions without really validating it. So here I am guilty of the same error that I have enjoyed seeing Wes correct in others. Thanks Wes!
I found your channel after watching the debate and have enjoyed the content. Apologetics Canada is a fantastic organization! Looking forward to the going to one of the Conferences in Abbotsford. I have had the blessing of having Andy Steiger as a Prof at Columbia Bible College.
I have listened to Billy Carson, never disrespected him and I find some value in his work, however he does it for personal gain. It’s okay to make money but not lead people away from God.
As an Ethiopian, I belive the book of enoch should be canonical. Mount Sanai is refered in Enoch 1:4 “And the Eternal God will tread upon the earth, even i by Mount Sinai, and appear in the strength of His might frim the heavens of heavens” It clearly the prophetic enoch refering to God descending upon Mount Sinai and it is a vision. Here are the reasons to believe in it: 1. New testament writers refer to the book of enoch like jude 14-15, paul at 1 corinthians 6:3, matthew 24:29 If the new testament writers relied upon it,… 2. Details the account of watchers the falled angles origin of sin and evil which made genesis ambiguous without it 3. Prophecies about the judgment day and Son of Man 4. The Ethiopian church preserves the scriptures of the first church before churches began splitting to catholic or ortodox politically. 5. It was also found in dead sea scrolls I am not expert at this but I also believe the priests of Ethiopian church have enough reasons gir keepin it canonical they are not just like some library bookkeepers who doesn’t know what books they have.
The book of enoch is a 100% fake manmade fraud. It has nothing whatsoever to do with Biblical truth. No Christian has anything to do with the fake, Godless book of enoch. No one in the new testament or the old testament quotes the book of enoch. If you were a Christian, you would know the book of enoch is a 100% fraud and nothing but a science fiction book of unbiblical nonsense. Repent!
Not to mention a complete scroll was found amongst Dead Sea scrolls finding and was sold to a private collector, never to be seen again. Definitely scripture. Definitely suppressed. It’s another witness to Genesis along with Jubilees. If anyone believes the devil isn’t hard at work bending the truth they aren’t awake.
Thank you so much for your kind words and blessings. May our Lord Jesus also continue to guide, protect, and bless you and your loved ones as you seek His truth and share His word. Indeed, this is the time for hearts and minds to open to the profound revelations of His Word. Through His grace, may we grow in understanding and draw others closer to Him with sound doctrine and love.
As for me though, I read Enoch on my phone during lunch-breaks at work in 2014, and it is part of my testimony on what brought be back to Jesus and the Bible.
He never said the book was fake or a lie. Just because it was written by another author other than Enoch, doesn't mean it's not scripture. It agrees with the Bible and doesn't take away from Christ or the history. It's also extremely detailed and prophetic. Church fathers always held it as having authority but I don't believe God ever intended it to be in the biblical Canon. Simply just too much to digest. Only true believers can handle this book. It freaks most ppl out
Hi Wes, would you say that the book of Job gives credibility to some of Enoch's words specifically this :- Job 38:22-41 "Have you entered the storehouses of the snow or seen the storehouses of the hail, which I reserve for times of trouble, for days of war and battle? What is the way to the place where the lightning is dispersed, or the place where the east winds are scattered over the earth?"
Its me right now, reading the Book of Revelations, come across the part " teaching of Nicolaitans", obviously everyone who has read the verse is curious to know what were those teachings to some degree. I then decide to write my own book, pushing a certain narrative for whatever purpose and title it " the teaching of Nicolaitans" so it may have some sort of authority.

@CrimpKeeper God said it's not. But your god, Lucifer loves it that you follow the lie.
I would argue that if Jude and Daniel and other biblical books seemed to draw from parts of Enoch, then it gives more credibility to it being more likely a type of scripture. Is that not correct? If not, why would it be so commonly known and used in scripture
@@visla84 visla, God's words will stand true. The so-called "Book of Enoch" has falsehoods and contradictions and ridiculous things in it, so we can be assured it is not from God.
Jude quotes Enoch as a prophet (verse 14) and we know the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy (Revelation 19:10). It is not merely a reconstruction of history and a text to draw ideas from.
Historically Enoch is clearly a textual hodge podge. Each of the five major sections can be traced (depending on whether you're looking at the Greek or Aramaic sections) to different develoopmental stages in Enochic tradition. They build on one another and what we call "1st Enoch" is indeed an attempted reconstruction of these different textual traditions. Also, don't forget that 1 Enoch 71:13-14 has Enoch declared as the Son of Man from Dan. 7 and calls himself the Messiah. This is, of course, heretical.
@@WesHuff Regarding 1 Enoch 71:13:14 , there is no doubt that there is an issue with our translation of this verse, especially by RH Charles. What's odd about this particular chapter and verse is the lead up to it one can infer the obvious connection to the Son of Man to that of the Messiah (1 Enoch 46:1-3) apart from Enoch himself. I suppose one could make an argument for typology like that of Ezekiel, regardless I'm fairly confident Enoch doesn't think of himself as God. Whatever the issue may be, we have to come to terms with the fact that Jude does refer to him as a prophet and Hebrews 11:5 states it was attested that he pleased God, yet there are no prophetic utterances of Enoch in the Old Testament. It is a testimony to the saints for the last days and it contains doctrines such as conditional immortality, cosmology, and eschatology, as well as a coherent worldview.
Ethiopian scriptures are the oldest scriptures compilation in the world as geez is the oldest language it is a part of their cannon. This is another example of gentile hijacking the faith. These things are passed on orally first and physically second as with all scriiyure
@@WesHuff I love your work. Our belief systems should be backed up by the word. I however think that placing more emphasis on theology and knowledge gained by physical research, than on the Holy Spirit guidance may lead us into error also. Like Paul said, the letter killeth but the Spirit gives life. I would rather encourage people to also develop intimacy with Jesus who's the embodiment of the Word and not rely too much on content creators on social media. None of us know it all.
I've read it and I'm sorry, there are things in there that the author couldn't have known. It does appear to be Scripture and not a fable. There are also details about nature that are so specific that only God could have known about it. It seems to be inspired or else Jude wouldn't have quoted from it. But I don't know, but no one, not even Wesley can say it's a lie. It is prophetic and agrees with the Bible.
examine them close , Jude did not quote from it and ENOCH did not write it neither would he EVER support such a heretical book calling HIM the Messiah not Jesus ......
I agree. And with Enoch being one of the anti-deluvian patriarchs, he would’ve been alive during a time where things we think as fantasy would’ve been around like giants and men of great renown, nephelim etc. and God was still interacting with mankind on a different level. maybe the only physical copy we can find of Enoch written by Ethiopians is a copy of Enoch’s original which would probably been destroyed because it was already so old by the time another scribe would’ve copied it. But instead of crediting themselves like any author would they credited enoch because they knew they were simply copying his writings to keep the documents in record.
Actually a complete copy of 1 Enoch is said to be in private hands after it was found among the dead sea scrolls. It's a powerful book, that affirm and cements the prophecies about the judgement of this world by Messiah. It's not surprising that people saw doubts whenever that book is mentioned.
@Wes Huff I don't understand. Does the false writing refer solely to the authorship or the contents or both? Like Enoch is the only clear explanation i have read, theologically for the origin of demons and giant's referred to later in the canon bible. So is the content made up, and that theological explanation also "false writing" Specifically Enoch 15:8-12 is a very clear explanation for demons and their origin. Is that "false writing"?
In another video Wes made he said the Apocrypha wasn't a collection of useless books. We can't definitively say that they're uninspired, but considering when all those books were written, we also can't consider apart of the Old Testament cannon. The jews never recognized these books in their Old Testament either. The Catholics added them, and the EO has the same bible. I think the Ethiopians have the Apocrypha as well. No one is saying you shouldn't read it, but theirs good reason to be apprehensive about including it as canon.
@michaelbush1374 Thanks, but I'm not really concerned if it's cannon or not. This might be narrow-minded, but the narrative in Enoch either happened or it didn't. If it is all made up then how can anyone trust any of the theology discussed in it? And if it is true then imo it's frustrating that if you ask most christains what a demon is they literally have no clue besides some vague evil spirit.
@@Mj783980 What’s really important is that if you ask a Christian who Jesus Christ is they get that correct. The Bible’s main focus is a little about our creation and fall and a whole lot about our redemption and the journey back to the garden. Are they fallen angels, a pre-Adamic race, Disembodied Nephelim? We don’t know for certain. Jesus referred to them as unclean spirits. It’s interesting for sure, but if it’s not in the scriptures, it’s simply conjecture. God bless you!
@WesHuff which book of Enoch do you own? I’d like to study this book, but I’ve noticed there are many versions and I’m not sure which one to buy. I’m trying to further my studies and understanding of the gospel. And I’d like to learn how to also defend to gospel as well. Did he talk about the dead sea scrolls and how they match from Ethiopian Bible ? Also a lot of talk about Most likely not happening, No real evidence that explains. I do like the guy for ripping apart Billy, But there are a lot of things he says that just go along with mainstream.
I have a genuine question. I find this really interesting. It seems Jesus is quoting, 1 Enoch 15:7 "And therefore I have not appointed wives for you; for as for the spiritual ones of the heaven, in heaven is their dwelling.” When He is speaking In Matthew 22:29-30 But Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, not understanding the Scriptures nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.” (NASB) Is there a more accurate explanation? There doesn't appear to be another reference to this in the old testament.
@@nattybumppo4151the only way this could be true is if the book of Enoch is older then Jesus on earth. My understanding is that the book of Enoch we see were written after. If this is true, why is it not probable the authors ripped off Jesus's ideas for their book?
@@nattybumppo4151 People will rather stick to what they've learned from other men than what scriptures says : Jude calls Enoch a prophet and quotes him. Jude and the apostles are Judahites, they know what is scriptures, which where validated by the levitical scribes throughout the ages.
None of them quoted from it. They may have alluded to it, but none of them ever used the words “it is written” or “as Scripture says.” If you actually read Enoch, it’s easy to see that it’s a pagan forgery. It claims there were 4,500 foot tall giants born from human women. I probably don’t need to tell you how absurd it is to believe anything can go from being as small as a human infant to growing 3 times taller than the Empire State Building. What would it eat? A blue whale would look like a minnow to it. Why haven’t we found bones that big?
The issue to me seems to be that Jude acknowledges Enoch as a prophet and 1st Enoch as authentic. This would mean that Enoch received a revelation from God, which is a marker of divine inspiration. This is different from Paul quoting pagan writers, as he does not acknowledge any divine influence on their writings. Perhaps, the tradition that Enoch was a prophet goes back further than the writing of his apocalypse. If that is case, one solution is that the historical Enoch really did experience an apocalyptic vision, but that vision has not be divinely preserved in writing. Thus, Jude quoting 1st Enoch would not mean a wholesale acknowledgement of the the text but only the specific passage he quotes as inspired.
@@statutesofthelord Really? The fact that the Ethiopian have this book in their canon should tell you otherwise. In their time the canon was not set by a counsel of gentiles, but by levitical scribes who were in charge of writing down the scrolls of scriptures. Jude calls precisely Enoch a prophet, he of the culture knows what he's talking about.
@@bbl5499but there is no protection to say it was actually a book or one like and a decieved book built around it. I ask you this and this only, what fruit does it bring?

I like this break down on the Book of Enoch. Great job on the content provided. If the book of Enoch was suppose to be in the Bible it would have found it’s way there by the power of the Holy Spirit. It is interesting though because Jude believed what he wrote was quoted by Enoch. Now this isn’t just Jude writing it but the Holy Spirit wrote it and that makes it truth. Now maybe not the whole book as the host points out but Enoch said what Jude quotes. It’s a very interesting book and it is included in Ethiopian cannon. Thanks for producing this video.
This is a terrible excuse for believers not doing more research. In fact china today is creating a bible that is a bible that says, jesus in fact sinned and that he was not deity. There is a curse for those who alter the truth and if we look at the findings of the Dead Sea scrolls and historical Jews and their scrolls we can find that some of these books need extra more careful attention. So to assume we can say because it isn’t in the Bible it’s not good is a bad way of viewing the people who are deciding what can and can’t be in the Bible without a detailed explanation. Especially considering in the 19th century they took them out. The original King James Bible had some of the books. And I seem to find that they can have value from the Holy Spirit. It says however in proverbs 25:2 “It is the glory of God to conceal a thing but the honour of kings to search out a matter” so if these scrolls were placed in the king chamber we can assume some of these scrolls have incredible value
Controlled opposition. Denying the authorship of this book to Enoch, the seventh from Adam, he who Jude calls a prophet, IS rejecting the Truth of scriptures. Very pharisee like.
It's because there was a century of forged books of the Bible. Many works were being written and the authors were trying to get them to be part of the Bible. Second and third Enoch are two books that were forged during this time of Angel craze when people were going backwards and claiming references in the old testament were talking about Angels. They are all considered heretical works. Only first Enoch was found among the Dead Sea Scrolls.
If it's not the pre-flood Enoch, then Jude isn't inerrant. "Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men, saying, "Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints," Jude call the author Enoch, the 7th from Adam. And says he was a prophet. If that's not true, Jude isn't inspired and doesn't belong in our bible either. Now, Enoch's work could have been added to over the centuries, but if Jude was writing under inspiration, the part he quoted(and Peter eludes to also, btw)must have been penned by 'that Enoch'. No disrespect to your expertise, Wes. You are a wonderful scholar, but this is just a matter of logic. Again, this doesn't mean that what we have now, is any part of the original, but it seems to me to proove that there was an original during Jude's time. And just because there is no extant paleohebrew manuscript texts, doesn't mean there never was. This would be arguing from silence. Now, I am actually ok with Jude being incorrect in his quote. I have a rather liberal view of the inspiration of the new testament since it never claims to be inspired. I'm just saying, you can't have it both ways. Respectfully in Christ.
the book of enoch says that enoch is the messiah. And was made changes to over time, there’s certainly parts that are helpful but it’s hard to separate that from whats made up in it. it’s possible that there’s oral tradition of Enoch’s prophecies that made it into the texts, but we just can’t know for certain.
Thank you for this video. My simple understanding on the use of the Enoch examples used are in line with what you have said. Sometimes it is important to start where people are to unveil the greater truth, such as Paul did at Mars Hill. The essence of Jude's use is not to affirm the Enoch literature as true but to make the stronger, truer fact about coming judgement. Shalom brother.
Except Jude says Enoch prophesied so Jude thought it was scripture and he said Enoch wrote it. That's Jesus brother so I am going to go with those two words Enoch prophesied instead of what a modern person says
Would you also agree with 1 Enoch 71:13-14 where, in complete contradiction to everything in the New Testament, it says that Enoch is the Son of Man from Daniel 7 and the chosen Messiah who will come back in the last days?
@@WesHuff The translation that I have says, "13 And The Ancient of Days came with Michael, Gabriel, Raphael and Phanuel and thousands and ten thousands of angels without number. 14 And an angel came and greeted me with his voice, and said unto me, "This is the Son of Man Who is born unto righteousness, and righteousness abides over Him, and the righteousness of the Head of days, will not forsake Him." I've also heard that Jewish adherents wanted to downplay the book of 1 Enoch because it so exactly described the Messiah being so obviously Jesus. I'm looking for answers about this, not taking a hard line either way.
Jude did NOT quote from the book of Enoch. A closer study of the two texts makes that obvious. It’s not quoted by anyone in the New Testament. Furthermore, Jude would have know it was a pseudepigraphal work, NOT containing the words of Enoch, so why would he quote from it? He didn’t. The most troubling problem with the book of Enoch (which Jude would have been aware of) is that it claims ENOCH is the Messiah. There’s a word for that: heresy.

Jude did quote from the book of enoch my friend. In fact id ask you to tell me how you know the book of Enoch to be apocrypha...for the Church omitted this and they can determine what is apocrypha or not. And the Church is not just the spiritual body but also the physical that's why we have arch bishops, bishops and priests in place for Jesus left them here to tend to his sheep in the traditional fashion of worship,a sacrament known as divine liturgy(worship)....many other sacraments happen during the course of divine liturgy as well! But the point is. He did quote from Enoch but for anything to be compelling it must contain some level of truth to it...reality is not comprised of dichotomy in black and white in a dyad fashion of thought but rather needs a discerning judge to determine truly what is black and what is right establishing triad thought surpassing the dyad understanding. For if all was black and white we would have no complications....but enough of me going on God bless! Just wanted to take the time to correct you, most protestant aren't equip to ask the right questions such as.... Who determines what goes into the cannon? Under what fashion of determining did they use to engage with establishing the cannon? Did you know martin Luther went after people who didn't agree with his interpretation? Did you know martin Luther wanted to take books out of the new testament? Including: Jude,James,Hebrews and revelation? Understanding where we are through the confusion can only be identified by gazing at the past and seeing how the undivided church for the first millennia operated and thought. The majority of heresies arising today is nothing unfamiliar to what the Church has put to rest in the past...just reviving heresies with different names... But either way I love everyone enjoy your journey and cling to the Lord!
Remember that just because something sounds convincing, it doesn’t mean it’s true. Check everything being said regardless of who is talking. Whether or not writings such as Enoch should or should not be included in the Bible is no small matter. Wes obviously thinks that it should not be, but countless videos online are showing the need for it and other writings to be included. Wes is our current hero and should be applauded, but our focus should be what Jesus Christ says. ✝️👀
While I'm fine with it not being considered canon, how come you dont address how it was believed by church fathers for the first 400 years that it was seen as canon? Also isnt it quoted many times, such as alluded to regarding the way to understand verses like on account of the angels women should cover their heads? Also didnt Jesus quote it as scripture when He said scripture teaches that angels dont marry in heaven, yet where can you find this idea in the 66 books of the Bible? Lastly hasn't it always been considered canon in the Ethiopian orthodox churches and has been in their bibles the whole time? I'm lead to believe book 1 should be considered canon, the other 2 books are latter developed gnostic trash, but at very least I'd agree with Dr Heiser when he says it need needs to be read by believers so they can understand a major source that influenced their Biblical authors minds.

@@Dominick7 the book of the Watchers is interesting, especially when you start reading the ancient Hebrew text of Genesis which is very different than the English versions we have. I'm of the opinion that the lost Book of Jasher is first Enoch and Job written by the first King after the flood recorded on the Sumerian King's list as Jushur. Translations really change the story. The Bene Elohim are called Keruvim in the book of the Watchers which means child exiles. The oldest meaning of Bene Elohim means sons of false Pantheon. The Bene Elohim appear in the oldest stories and should be translated with the old meaning not the new meaning of Elohim as the One True God.

Can I just note that the book of Enoch is Apocrypha and not pseudopha. And I rarely doubt that the Holy Spirit would allow the "New York Times" to be quoted in the Bible several times both in the OT and NT. That was a bad analogy. However I do agree with you that we do not have early writings to prove the authenticity of the Book of Enoch. However, this did not stop us from believing in the OT Scriptures before the Dead Sea Scroll discoveries, which by the way also have quotations of Enoch and Jasher. If you are going to do this type of topic, it needs to be laid out more thoroughly. One last thing, Enoch does discuss more on the issue of the Nephlim that are talked about in Genesis pre-flood. Just saying, Enoch writings are alive and well by being quoted in God's Word, and certainly not like the "New York Times. "
That would depend on what you mean by "Apocrypha" and how formal or informal your use of the term is. Either way 1st Enoch is not considered a part of the Apocrypha Formal (i.e. the Catholic Deuterocanonical books) nor within the category of other OT apocryphal literature. 1st 2nd and 3rd Enoch are all in and have always been considered a member of the Jewish Pseudepigrapha.
I think claims like "First Enoch must be scripture. Look! Even Jude quotes it" are a serious misunderstanding of Jude 1-16. Jude is saying, in essence, "look at theese false teachers! They think they are like Moses, Noah, and Abraham? No! They are like the unbeleiving Israelites, the fallen angels, soddom and gomorrah! They think they are like Abel, Moses and Aaron? No! They are like Cain, Korah and Balaam! Don't beleive the law? I will show their'e error using their'e own books!"
Here’s the issue. The book of Enoch was one of the most found works at the Dead Sea scrolls. It was found at Qumran which was found to be the place of origin where John the Baptist was, and where Jesus would have spent some of his childhood. The dead sea scrolls is the oldest copies of the Old Testament known to man and therefore means as far as we know the Old Testament only dates to 400bc by your logic. Also the lack of knowledge of what gnostic texts is shows as there was a gnostic book known as the “second book of Enoch” which differs from the 1st book of Enoch which is split in 4 parts. Also he was very righteous we know this it’s said in the Bible, and some people think R.H Charles mistranslated the part saying Enoch was the son of man having supposed to be a prophecy of Christ. Also the New Testament definitely does quote it and have other things that originate from it including prophecies in the book of revelation. We know books are missing form scripture because they are mentioned in the Old Testament, and I would never believe that Jesus would let his disciples quote a book that was blasphemy against God. So you can say someone added it later which then one could say how do we know the entire miracles of Jesus wasn’t a forgery? It’s either you believe Jesus and the apostles or you don’t.
@ obviously it’s not a salvation issue. The issue is scholars making false claims about Inspired scripture with terrible research to back it up. As a Christian I want Gods true word to be revealed, and not just ignored. Salvation is a new believer issue, after that we are supposed to be apostles, and teachers fixing the errors and making way for the return of Christ. This should be every Christian’s concern
To caveat off this my question is how can we take the book of Esther into the Bible. Don't get me wrong I love that book. But we don't know the author of Esther. It was never part of the dead sea scrolls and it never mentions God. I know it has God in the details and hints at him but never the less
@ the book of Esther has been found to be a pagan story of a goddess. There is a series on it called testing the book of Esther by the god culture I highly recommend
It’s pretty crazy to think about. I found ya off your Instagram post about biblically accurate descriptions and depictions of angels. Then from there I started to see some of the questions I had being answered. To see those posts and then get the debate with Billy Carson was very helpful in my own personal search for the truth.
I stumbled on this topic via Johnny Enlow. I think his assertion was that Mark 12:24 (full context verses 18 through 25) "And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?" demonstrated that Jesus thought of what we would call 1 Enoch as scripture as nowhere in the 66 books of "our" Bible does it talk about "No Marriage in Heaven" ? I will watch more of your content! And yes, the Carson debate lead me to Wes.
Enoch was a prophet. (Jude 1 : 14) he prophesied meaning he was a prophet. He was transfigured by God Genesis( 5: 23) absolutely a remarkable man who walked with God. Always somebody trying to take away from the word of God with useless information about trivial historic facts, when the word of God needs to be preserved the way it is. Quit trying to read more into the word of God. Let it be.
I don't see how anything you've said has anything to do with the authenticity of the the book of Enoch... which wasn't written by the actual Enoch. But I guess those historical truths are just trivial facts?
did not take me many videos to learn this about Wes , he is being used by the devil , he throws a lot of fancy sounding speech to confuse and dominate simple hearts like Paul says . Gods people , we do not come with good speech and fancy communication but in demonstrating the power of the holy ghost . This guy lies way too much , he is starting to sound like Billy Carson at this point .
That's the curse of christianity. Pagans with zero knowledge of a culture embracing it and deciding according to their agendas, what is canon or not. Canon for the israélites, was from the levitical scribes. They're the keepers of biblical scriptures from 2 Chronicles 32.
When I study history I want to know all of the facts. I don't care if someone or a group of someones believe a piece of history should be left out. It is a shame we in this day have to question origin!
Im not sure why its controversial to mamy scholars but the book of enoch provides really good clarification that just makes the entire bible feel more understandable.
Jude did say Enoch the 7th from Adam prophesied. I do understand what you said and believe mostly but I don't believe it was a like daily newspaper we have today of a pagan reporter giving their own opinion But rather truthful accounts that were written down and spoken by Noah and his offspring that kept passing them down to family and that's what we have and was their only way of preservation Enoch would be Noah's great grandfather and I would most definitely believe more strongly what's written in Enoch than I would anything written down in our present day news papers. Also after surviving the flood I would think these rightness men would have thought it was important to pass down this knowledge. As the experts say its not to be taken as the word of God but I personally believe this book is helpful to those that already understand and believe the Bible as God's word. Wess thanks for all you do. You've explained so much that it's incredibly helpful !
I've heard from various scholars on these topics, but I feel compelled to give this man views, likes and shares regardless of my comfort with the material😂😂😂 Thanks for doing that debate!!
Enoch does make pionts about the preflood history, what the forbidden knowlege actualy was and where demons originate. Makes the metaphor of forbidden fruit make sense. For this reason i think it should be included as a seperate book.

I'm Ethiopian and we have very different Bible than the west! We've always had the book of Enoch in our Bible. What's your opinion of our books?
I believe it's an important piece of history that should be studied!
@selammengistu4403 i can't believe my original response got deleted. I'll keep it simple and ask a question. Why did Michaelangelo depict a pregnant mother Mary as an unmistakable Ethiopian woman on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel?
Different Enoch. The real Enoch was taken to heaven, therefore he don't have a book.

Thank you for explaining this. It was really helpful. Where can I get a copy of the authenthic Book of Enoch?

Jesus also referenced the book of Enoch. ( Mark 12:18-27). When Jesus tells the Sadduces you asked this because you misunderstand scripture and that we do not marry in heaven, nowhere in the Bible except for Enoch does it describe it angelic order and that we do not marry in Heaven. So that proves that Enoch was a book that the disciples and Pharisees were familiar with.

As an Ethiopian, I belive the book of enoch should be canonical.
Mount Sanai is refered in Enoch 1:4
“And the Eternal God will tread upon the earth, even i by Mount Sinai, and appear in the strength of His might frim the heavens of heavens”
It clearly the prophetic enoch refering to God descending upon Mount Sinai and it is a vision.
Here are the reasons to believe in it:
1. New testament writers refer to the book of enoch like jude 14-15, paul at 1 corinthians 6:3, matthew 24:29
If the new testament writers relied upon it,…
2. Details the account of watchers the falled angles origin of sin and evil which made genesis ambiguous without it
3. Prophecies about the judgment day and Son of Man
4. The Ethiopian church preserves the scriptures of the first church before churches began splitting to catholic or ortodox politically.
5. It was also found in dead sea scrolls
I am not expert at this but I also believe the priests of Ethiopian church have enough reasons gir keepin it canonical
they are not just like some library bookkeepers who doesn’t know what books they have.
Repent!
I think enoch is so accurate both literally and symbolically
Looks like I'm gonna have to get in touch with the church of Ethiopia to learn more.
I just ordered an Ethiopian Bible from Amazon
Not to mention a complete scroll was found amongst Dead Sea scrolls finding and was sold to a private collector, never to be seen again. Definitely scripture. Definitely suppressed. It’s another witness to Genesis along with Jubilees.

It freaks most ppl out
Hi Wes, would you say that the book of Job gives credibility to some of Enoch's words specifically this :- Job 38:22-41
"Have you entered the storehouses of the snow or seen the storehouses of the hail, which I reserve for times of trouble, for days of war and battle? What is the way to the place where the lightning is dispersed, or the place where the east winds are scattered over the earth?"
I don't think the Enoch's quotes in the new testament were from a book, i believe they quoted from oral teaching and tradition....
Precisely...I do not know how people's fail to conceive that
Its me right now, reading the Book of Revelations, come across the part " teaching of Nicolaitans", obviously everyone who has read the verse is curious to know what were those teachings to some degree. I then decide to write my own book, pushing a certain narrative for whatever purpose and title it " the teaching of Nicolaitans" so it may have some sort of authority.

I would argue that if Jude and Daniel and other biblical books seemed to draw from parts of Enoch, then it gives more credibility to it being more likely a type of scripture. Is that not correct? If not, why would it be so commonly known and used in scripture

Don't apologize, if thats your analysis, stand by it
Do you have examples of "details about nature that are so specific that only God could have known about it"?
I love Billy… without him, I would never have discovered this wise man, Wes Huff 🙏😊
@Wes Huff I don't understand. Does the false writing refer solely to the authorship or the contents or both?
Like Enoch is the only clear explanation i have read, theologically for the origin of demons and giant's referred to later in the canon bible. So is the content made up, and that theological explanation also "false writing"
Specifically Enoch 15:8-12 is a very clear explanation for demons and their origin.
Also when he talks about mansions in heaven. John 14:2-3

@@nattybumppo4151the only way this could be true is if the book of Enoch is older then Jesus on earth. My understanding is that the book of Enoch we see were written after. If this is true, why is it not probable the authors ripped off Jesus's ideas for their book?

None of them quoted from it.
No one can state with certainty that Jude was quoting the Book of Enoch.
Have you read Enoch ch 1? You should. @@statutesofthelord

Really? The fact that the Ethiopian have this book in their canon should tell you otherwise. In their time the canon was not set by a counsel of gentiles, but by levitical scribes who were in charge of writing down the scrolls of scriptures.
Jude calls precisely Enoch a prophet, he of the culture knows what he's talking about.
First Enoch was found among the Dead Sea Scrolls but second and third Enoch are considered forgeries and heresies.
@@bbl5499but there is no protection to say it was actually a book or one like and a decieved book built around it. I ask you this and this only, what fruit does it bring?
I prayed for someone to come in and stop Billy Carlson from saying things that were absolutely untrue to throw stumbling blocks before people of faith. I pray he humbles himself to see God's trying to get his attention as he is not unsalvageable. That being said Wes has his own knowledge and wonderfully patient teachings I saw sooner.
Second and Third Enoch are considered forgeries and heresies. First Enoch is summarized as Genesis 6.
Great question I’m here to hear. 🤔
So you say they don't consider a scripture but they're quoting it for generations of the world to trust? Doesn't make sense brother
I have always wondered this. Thanks
So many people praising this guy and yet no leaving a 👍!!? What's wrong with you!? Not hard to do
If it's not the pre-flood Enoch, then Jude isn't inerrant. "Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men, saying, "Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints,"
Jude call the author Enoch, the 7th from Adam.
Second and third Enoch are considered forgeries and heresies, but first Enoch was found among the Dead Sea Scrolls.
@@paulschuckman6604why trust those? And not your bible?
@@CoryW-h3q I'm confused are you saying why trust the Dead Sea Scrolls?
At most we can say the prophecy could be written by Enoch. That doesn't mean everything in the book that's attributed to him is.
@WesHuff could it be some scholar messed with that part to cause confusion?
@@WesHuff The translation that I have says, "13 And The Ancient of Days came with Michael, Gabriel, Raphael and Phanuel and thousands and ten thousands of angels without number. 14 And an angel came and greeted me with his voice, and said unto me, "This is the Son of Man Who is born unto righteousness, and righteousness abides over Him, and the righteousness of the Head of days, will not forsake Him."
I've also heard that Jewish adherents wanted to downplay the book of 1 Enoch because it so exactly described the Messiah being so obviously Jesus.
I'm looking for answers about this, not taking a hard line either way.
@WesHuff to be fair Elijah came back as John the Baptist in mathew 17 10
@@WesHuff No, because we’ve read the preceding 70 chapters and that would make no sense at all in the context of the book.
I highly value 1st Enoch as a text that helps me understand some stuff from the old testament.

@@nattybumppo4151I’ve studied the Bible, all the apocryphal texts and church history, which is how I can easily recognise the problems with fan fiction such as the book of Enoch.
Wes huff vs wu sabat.

@@WesHuff
That would be an understatement...🙂
I think claims like "First Enoch must be scripture. Look! Even Jude quotes it" are a serious misunderstanding of Jude 1-16.
Jude is saying, in essence, "look at theese false teachers! They think they are like Moses, Noah, and Abraham? No! They are like the unbeleiving Israelites, the fallen angels, soddom and gomorrah! They think they are like Abel, Moses and Aaron? No! They are like Cain, Korah and Balaam!
Don't beleive the law? I will show their'e error using their'e own books!"
WITHOUT THE BOOK OF ENOCH...... NOBODY, AND I MEAN NOBODY, CAN TELL YOU WHO AZAZAEL IS IN LEVITICUS 16......
Or the 4 angels underneath the euphrates river in mentioned in revelations
Or what sin caused the angels to be locked up!
Seventh-day Adventists who have never read and don't believe the rabbi-written so-called Book of Enoch know who Azazael is.
I think that’s a different Azazel but I’ll have to do further research
Yeah you can lol. Just read the Bible
Also, what language (if any) would Enoch have written in, since he lived before the confusion of languages?
The book of Enoch is not necessary for salvation. Do with it what you want.
That’s a flat lie
It’s pretty crazy to think about. I found ya off your Instagram post about biblically accurate descriptions and depictions of angels. Then from there I started to see some of the questions I had being answered. To see those posts and then get the debate with Billy Carson was very helpful in my own personal search for the truth.
You are swell at breaking stuff down!
I stumbled on this topic via Johnny Enlow. I think his assertion was that Mark 12:24 (full context verses 18 through 25)
"And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?"
demonstrated that Jesus thought of what we would call 1 Enoch as scripture as nowhere in the 66 books of "our" Bible does it talk about "No Marriage in Heaven"
?
I don't think.
Jude is going to quote something that enoch did not write. We very much trust the world of god

Billy is to blame now a new subscriber 😂😂😂

Could this have been a story that was orally passed down? Until writing was available?
