How he TRIES TO EXPLAIN, how the The Hebrew Bible is put together, is claiming put together by Scripts they don't have? Make it make sense????
My research leads me to believe the Dead Sea scrolls are copies , and new works, saved from the library of Alexandria. The scholars fled from Alexandria 900KM to the East with scrolls, after Caesar burnt the library in 48BC. And eventually settled near the Qumran caves where they continued their work and stored the text in the caves in about 2BC.
Your research is incomplete, perhaps biased? Caesar only partially and accidentally destroyed the Library of Alexandria. The “daughter library,”maintained by Pythagorean astronomer and mathematician Hypatia, was deliberately obliterated near the end of the fourth century and Hypatia was brutally killed by Christian mobs. These acts were ordered as punishment for “heresy” by Theophilus, the Bishop of the region, sanctioned by the tyrannical Emperor Theodosius, creator of the abominable Council of Nicaea.
Also.. there is so much left out of the subject that they are discussing.. Irvine Finkel at the British museum studies Sumerian cuneiform texts. In these texts has been found, not only the earliest written story of the great flood and Noah, but the precise instructions of how to build the Ark. The BBC did a documentary of them making a scale replica of the Ark. The Dead Sea scrolls are much younger than these clay tablets.
Dead Sea Scrolls that I saw at a Public Museum while they were presented around the USA. The Dead Sea Scrolls showed extremely close aligment with the Old Testament. The Essenes were Scribes who kept the oral history alive. Essenses were islolated tribe.
I find you interesting but do not agree with your assessment of dead sea scrolls...at least not all of them. I already knew that some were forgeries. As far as explanations of Moses and Daniel you really fell short. I may be wrong but seems as though you're a tad bit sour on Christianity because of your experiences with whatever you had. If every word of the Bible is true why are there so many contradictions within it? Which creation is true? How did the story of the crucifixion and Resurrection turn out because there's four different versions. This is the inspired word of God you would think there would be a definitive single story. So God is definitely into slavery. If you've ever read your Bible you would know that. You would also know that Jesus predicted that the coming of the Kingdom he spoke of was then. As if this is happening very very soon in people of his time expected that. And we have older versions of the Bible where there's a female God as well so what about that? The reversions of those texts out there that are more complete than the versions we have today because parts were taken out. By the way I hope you're Jewish because Jesus was and the Bible and the God were for his people. There were many other gods around at the time everybody had theirs. A huge let down was inability to explain why Greek language Septuagint is more complex. The complex language of very developed philosophy and deep thought made that translation into what it is. Translation is not a mechanical process.
The form of greek in the Septuagint did not exist when the OT books were written. Not to mention Israel was currently conquered by other civilizations at the time that have had a much larger impact on the OT than Greek. Also the "deep thinkers" you are appealing to did not exist yet either.

I've alway's found it to be ironic how those that refer to them selves as CHRISTIAN'S hold their bible so close to their heart's, and utilze them as defense in any religious debate. When the bible they will refer to, in it's title states it's a "VERSION". Which is the last word in the title of the bible they all utilzed starting with KING JAMES and then VERSION. I defy anyone to utilize an offical and even one that isn't officeal U.S.A. dictionary, and look up the meaning of the word "VERSION". And then tell me an earlier "VERSION" regardless of which of the many there are, there version is the one and only coorect version.
1:49:49 This comparison he's doing is wrong in the context of "unique word forms". Its not "I ran, he ran" it would be like "ran away", "ran up to", "ran down from". Greek uses plenty of prefixes and suffixes, each verb with a different prefix, or suffix, is a unique word. Using something like ana-, apo-, kata-, epi-, ex-, meta-, etc. Ana(basis), Kata(basis). An(ode) Cath(ode). Up way, down way. Logos, Apologos, epilogos, prologos; those are unique word forms of that one root. Kipp doesn't know that because he doesn't understand Greek grammar.

So the original story is that 72 scribes translated the Torah into the Septuigent, and they came out with the same divine translation. Obviously, fiction. @@mq1995 I can see how a religion could spring from such experiences, an active sacrament would serve as an initiation and bond the group. Later the priests could remove this and make it faith based transfuring it from a direct experience and taking power over the followers. Something people would most certainly do. Just an idea though obviously. Terrance Mckenna once said that going through life without such an experience would be akin to never having sex. I meet lots of materialistic people who have never experienced this and I find them all to be wanting.

The complexity argument got off track really fast… What it’s based on is “literal translation”, whereas he is talking about poetic license, Or transliteration. Literally reading a phrase or a sentence, and then reworking it in completely different words so it says ‘what you think it means’. Like, in the Vedic texts, that is supposed to be punishable by loosing your hand at best, and death at worst!! They want photocopies, not “your ideas”. How do you photocopy more neuance to Ancient Greek from Hebrew?🤷🏼
I have to disagree with the guest on the point that just reading say the book of Judges, it is obvious that no one has any idea how to distinguish their religion from that of the Canaanites -- because it is the religion of the Canaanites. There is even one judge who engages in sacrifice of his own daughter after a victory. So even the Bible does not assert there was any widespread assumption of monotheism as the true religion for quite some time. In fact even from the Bible it can be argued that the eventual religion advocated is a relatively late construct.

Hi there! Such an interesting conversation!! I am studying Akkadian at the moment (Old Babylonian specifically) which is the oldest attested semitic language. Although the Akkadians adopted the Sumerian writing system of Cuneiform (along with many others in the region) Sumerian is a language isolate - it has no known relatives (which is not some shocking indication that these were some beings from an alternate dimension - we just have very few records of languages going this far back and we have language isolates in existence today too!) and apart from some minor word adoption here and there you won't find any Sumerian connection at all with the any branch of the semitic language family. I believe Sumerian is also an agglutinative language (not an expert here so don't quote me) whereas semitic languages are fusional. Very glad to see this distinction being called out! You absolutely cannot logically infer some special connection between Hebrew and Sumerian. It would be like saying French has connections to Inuit because Indo European Langauage speakers took over large swathes of their traditional land. It just ain't so!
“You can translate anything into any other language regardless of complexity” !?! That statement is Hot Garbage and you can stick that in Google Translate.

So funny when he describes religious institutes buying fragments for display...it made me laugh because it is so similar to the middle ages when countless holy friars or returning crusaders at traveling fairs and churches would attract donations by displaying small fragments of supposed relics (a sliver off the cross or a chip of the chalice of the grail). It is a stereotype of fictional literature describing those times and now is repeating in our modern times.
Greek philosophy is so different from the concepts of the Hebrew religion that Christians had to invent the Trinity based on Plato's 3 parts to the soul in order to reconcile Jewish thought for a Greek audience. It's unlikely that Greek culture would've produced a theology foreign to it's own understanding of the fundamental values that govern metaphysical epistemology.

Yes, like using Daniel as evidence to show Hebrew/Aramaic priority. Daniel is a forgery written no earlier than 167 bc. It was written after the Septuigent was commissioned and then translated into Greek and added to the Septuigent. A huge let down was inability to explain why Greek language Septuagint is more complex. The complex language of very developed philosophy and deep thought made that translation into what it is. Translation is not a mechanical process.
Greek was a complicated language, and had nuances that Hebrew didn't have. My guess is that the translators ran with it in their own way.
You only sayin this cause of that other guess that spoke that lie.
The form of greek in the Septuagint did not exist when the OT books were written. Not to mention Israel was currently conquered by other civilizations at the time that have had a much larger impact on the OT than Greek.

Only being able to read, write and speak U.S.A. offical language referred to as "ENGLISH". I defy anyone to utilize an offical and even one that isn't officeal U.S.A. dictionary, and look up the meaning of the word "VERSION". And then tell me an earlier "VERSION" regardless of which of the many there are, there version is the one and only coorect version.
1:49:49
This comparison he's doing is wrong in the context of "unique word forms".
There are many things he doesn't understand.

So the original story is that 72 scribes translated the Torah into the Septuigent, and they came out with the same divine translation. Obviously, fiction. What if we flip that story on its head and say that there was an attempt to translate the Septuigent into Hebrew by 72 scribes to see if they could establish a Hebrew source for a newly forming religion?

IE Daniel is evidence that they were forging documents in Hebrew/Aramaic and passing them off as holy text.
The irony is that Kipp uses this fact against apologists himself in several videos, yet here deceptively tries to use it as an apologist for Hebrew priority.
Conspiracies, here we go again. DSS were first discovered by an Arab shepherd boy. The discovery has nothing to do with Israeli’s establishment as a nation.
But they were useful in it.
Dont believe a man who thinks Jesus was a pedo. You can be an expert yourself, just read the Bible still the same after 2,000 years.
But it’s not… has been rewritten again and again…
@@BarefootInAK You mean like the Jehovah's adding jehovah ever in the New Testament? But 1 way to verify what your saying could just take a look at New King James when was that written? But earlier versions of Kj might be but have to disagree there are many gospels written before major publications and are all accurate to each other.
So they're just guessing on dating scrolls, particularly trying to associate them with older texts!? I wish scholars would just say "I/We don't know!"
That's what Biblical "scholars" do. They have a bias towards propping up their religious ideology.
That's what biblical scholars do, they historisize a fable.
What did the carbon dating do?
No scholar will say "we don't know," because then you'll realize how useless they are.
Funny how most Christian biblical scholars have left the church.
Biblical scholars who don't speak ancient languages and rely on translation? Mauro Biligno is what actual biblical scholars should be. Biligno explains why relying on translation causes is not good.
@@ndr226 When I started studying this stuff, I learned Koine Greek and Latin. I’ve never met a biblical scholar unable to read these basic languages. I also studied. Coptic and High Church Slavonic. I cannot understand living one’s life based on translations and, like King James, pretty poor translations at that.
@@nbenefiel great reply. I agree.
That's actually not true. Most critical Bible scholars are Protestant, typically from Evangelical backgrounds.
They are usually just very moderate and dare I say progressive(😱) Christians.
There are some atheists, yes, and a lot of the most well-known ones are atheists(Bart Erhman), but Erhman will tell you that most are Christian.
@@FaptainCalcon750being Protestant is irrelevant, when studying Bible in seminary school you have to learn these languages regardless of background
This guy isn’t an expert on Anything. Completely wasted my time
Has his PhD in expertology^
He sort of said a lot of nothing, but he did give good insight into forgeries. But show me something thats extremely popular, and I bet there will be forgeries. Doesnt make it untrue.
That's exactly went through my mind shortly after starting this video. He doesn't know what he's talking about in the least.
@greenacresorganics7922 he appears to be an expert in the texts and determining whether they are forgeries. I am assuming thats what his PhD is in.. Whether you agree with his interpretation of the documents in a larger context is a different discussion and different field of study
Yup, 1 minute in and instantly know what he is about and it ain't truth..
I think you need some more ads
HILARIOUS. THIS DUDE IS SAYING THE PROTOCOLS ARE FAKE, MEANWHILE HES AN "EXPERT" IN THE DEAD SEA SCROLLS, THAT ARE PROVEN AND DOCUMENTED TO BE COMPLETELY FAKE.
No they aren’t. Provide some proof
Really? That's news to me. While I understand that forgeries have been made over the years, that happens in all areas of archeological relics. The true Dead Sea Scrolls from the caves have been confirmed real, with some of it being dated.
Danny Jones should do an episode on 'The Protocols'. Bring in the experts.
@@stephw.6539 im not talking about the fakes that were in museums. I'm talking about the "real" ones.
@@yup1579 I know, and what leads you to believe that they aren't real?
It's a relationship with GOD not religion
Note to all podcast creators stop putting ads in your show. It ruins everything and it makes me guaranteed not to use your purchase code. Thank you.
Shut up. You’re broke and bumish.
Fast forward
Those ads pay for the show so you don't have to, if you don't want to see them, pay for his Patreon. If you want to continue watching the show for free stop complaining about the ads because they make that possible for you.
Enough people do engage those ads so it's gonna keep happening. unless you wanna pay for the patreon ?
These comments are pointless and have no solution offered. Either put ads in the beginning so they can be skipped all together right away (like a normal logical caring person would do) or don’t do them at all. Going back to the Television show model is lame and frankly retarded lol. I’ll rest my case, have an amazing day.
P.s. I’d happily pay for his pay wall scam as money is nothing to me but I don’t be for fakery 🤣
