I love this movie so much. It does well on it's own, but is so much better if you have watched "Clerks", "Mallrats", and "Chasing Amy", so you get all the references to those movies, and understand why some actors are playing multiple roles.
And Dogma.
@@cyberleadr You know, after I hit send I was thinking "am I forgetting one?", but my old brain just sad "shut up and go take a nap." :D
and Phantoms. ben was the bomb!@@vwlssnvwls3262
@@Camille.-tx8il Me too. I saw Dogma in the theater, and there was an older couple that walked out during the text on the screen at the start. I guess they took what they read to heart.
Damon and affleck did this for free... Chris rock was also in dogma
time for one of the best movies that has ever been made.
Really?
Damn right
@@jonathonfrazier6622 It's ok, not everyone can think that deeply.
Hell yes!!!
Watch more movies my guy lol
This and Dogma were the first Kevin Smith movies I ever saw. I didn't realize just how intricate the backstory was, but once I saw Clerks and Mallrats it made this all the more special. Like, it still works alright as a movie without seeing what came before, but more context makes you appreciate everything even more.
Dogma is my favorite movie of all time.
you know my dad always used to roll his eyes at these movies, with that being said i dont think i ever saw him laugh so hard when jay is ranting to the camcorder about C.L.I.T
You NEED to see Dogma! Best Jay & Silent Bob film... Lots of familiar faces, here.
Loved the cast of this movie - so many big names including:
- 3 SNL veterans (Chris Rock, Will Ferrel, Tracy Morgan)
- 2 Star Wars veterans (Mark Hamil, Carrie Fisher) and
- 3 American Pie veterans (Shannon Elizabeth, Sean William Scott, Jason Biggs).
Not to mention George Carlin, Shannen Doherty, Judd Nelson, Jon Stewart, Deidrich Bader, James Van Der Beek (he starred in a 90s show called Dawson's Creek) and directors Wes Craven & Gus Van Sant :)
What about Jamie Kennedy, I humbly recommended "Kickin it Old School"
George Carlin was the host of the very first episode of SNL.
This is one of those movies where you could watch it even if you're having a shit day and still laugh the whole way through ❤
Kevin Smith is the fucking homie lol
Come on, he got Matt Damon and Ben Afflec their oscars cause he's the one who told them to go and sell Good Will Hunting! Kevin Smith is the Ultimate Bro!
He's a bit whiney these days but the dudes legacy is undeniable
Well he has a kid now!@@DjDown1984
It's about time that you watched one of my films! 😜🤘❤💛💚
You cannot watch this movie and not smoke a fat joint at the same time! You’re one of the best reactors on RUclips! 🤘🏽
I couldn't for the first time I saw this because I worked at the theater I saw it at!
I know she's not incredibly easy to recognize here. The nun who offered Jay and Bob the ride is the late Carrie Fisher, aka Leia Organa from the Star Wars franchise. Numerous other actors and actresses have small roles as well which you've already reacted to. Brent was Seann William Scott: American Pie, American Pie 2, Final Destination, Jackass 3D. Chrissy was Ali Larter: Final Destination and Final Destination 2.
Justice was Shannon Elizabeth: American Pie, American Pie 2, Scary Movie. Security Guard was Diedrich Bader: Office Space. Chaka's Production Assistant was Jamie Kennedy: Scream. Many more as well. I know many of these you had to delete for demonetization, which truly sucks. I was able to watch them all before that, although still horrible they're not available anymore.
I was more shocked seeing George Carlin in this movie. Albeit I didn’t follow stand ups when this movie originally came out but now seeing that legend in this movie is awesome.
Ali Larter always gonna be remembered for one scene by me 😂😂😂 was about 12 during the whip cream bikini
@@Soggywaffle47 He was also in Dogma, another Kevin Smith directed film. I won’t go into specific plot details since it’s not being covered here. Another cameo was in Scary Movie 3. Leo reacted to the first four Scary Movies, had to ax all those as well, unfortunately.
Ali Larter came out in one of the resident evil movies as Claire. I think it's resident evil extinction. She's fine af in that one.
@@cactusjuice8277 Larter is pretty varied in her roles, which is great to see when actors/actresses can do different genres well. She did “crazy” pretty good in Obsessed. On a side note, I DON’T hate the Paul WS Anderson RE films. They seem Oscar deserving compared to anything Uwe Boll has ever done. Can’t change my mind on that. I suffered through House of the Dead, Bloodrayne and Alone in the Dark. Several hours I’ll never get back. Apologies for going off on a tangent, I’m done now.
I love how Brodie is talking about Banky and HE'S the actor who PLAYS Banky. lol. This has to be Kevin Smith's Second best movie ever. Dogma being #1.
George Carlin was a savage didn't even know it was him first time watching it. The hitchhiking part.
It took a few watches to notice after Jay yells "Justice!" the choir sings "Justice is dead! Or so Jay thinks!" 😂
Kevin Smith the Director/writer...is ( Silent Bob ) He Made Aflec Known . and he is Very well respected by everyone , thats why Every single actors and actress in the movie are Very Famous celebrities . AND THANK YOU for WAYCHING the !st one and Not the Reboot
Leo.. You literally jumped into the 5th film in a series.. lol... Chasing Amy explains the comic and their "likeness rights".
Just for reference in order
Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Clerks II, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, Clerks III.
some side films that can be fun: Clerks the animated series (after Dogma), Zack and Miri Make a Porno (after Clerks II).
Would have also explained the line "It's nights like this I miss dating a lesbian"
@@mikethemotormouth and the significance of Dante and Randall... and all the cameos coming out of the theater at the end, the cameo from Brodie in the beginning... among others.
I was about to comment this lol
Don’t forget Jersey Girl, Red State, and Yoga Hosers.
@@RandomNonsense1985 well Red State isn't part of the universe. There's a theory that the manager of Mooby's in Reboot is the same character in Yoga Hosers..I have only seen that once so I can't say for sure. Lol. It was just bad. I only didn't mention them because they haven't been retconned into the Askewniverse (although Jay and Bob are supposed to be in Moosejaws we'll see).Tusk, Yoga Hosers and Moosejaws (if it happens) will form the "True North trilogy". Red State and Jersey Girl are still stand alone though.
Omh I saw this in the theater back in the day and the whole audience was just bustin up the entire time!!! 😂😂😂
It's ok to laugh. Everyone did when they saw this. They are jokes. Comedy gets us out of our bullshit and just be able to laugh at ourselves. Humility and laughter are the best medicines. It really ends up to us lying to ourselves. Your reactions are incredible.
My thoughts exactly. When it comes to comedy, laugh at whatever you find funny, political correctness be damned. The people who let themselves get offended and upset at jokes don't have much of a sense of humor to begin with. I've always felt that when it comes to comedy, everything is fair game. People should be able to laugh at themselves and not take life too seriously. Race, religion, orientation, stereotypes and any other topic should be able to be joked about. Some of the best comedians like Dave Chappelle, George Carlin, and John Cleese have told the PC mobs that they don't care about their opinions, they're going to tell the jokes they want to tell.
Kevin Smith (Silent Bob) talks a lot about writing this movie, and all his movies. It's fun to hear about how Jay was and how he wrote the script for sure. Also, Missy from the thieves is his actual wife, Jen. This was probably my favorite movie growing up haha! If you ever get a chance to see Kevin or Jay live anywhere, make sure you go! I'd love to see you react to Red State, it's a really different movie he did a while back. It's pretty much a horror movie.
This movies is top 5. Every fucking line in this movie is gold. All afternoon at work I’ve literally been mouthing along “HEY BABY YOU EVER HAD YOUR ASSHOLE LICKED BY A FAT MAN IN AN OVERCOAT!?” The amount of cameos in this movie, the writing, this is a perfect movie
great reaction and not to mention * have to explain comedy * best way to put it LOL it is crazy world bro keep it up!
I just realized you are censoring your "Jay" for YT 🤣 that's honestly the best solution for everybody, love it! 😍😄
Fun Fact:
Federal Wildlife Marshal Willenholly name comes from Land of the Lost's three main characters Rick Marshal, Will and Holly (in a deleted scene, Willenholly called an FBI agent named Sid N. Marty, a reference to Sid and Marty Krofft, who created Land of the Lost).
Of course Will Farrell also went on to star in the Land of the Lost movie. Now I can't get that theme song out of my head.
Leo, I'm 63 years old and I been watching this movie since I bought the VHS tape from Blockbuster many years ago. One of the funniest movies EVER. Snootchie Bootchies!
After The Last Jedi, I really did say on Facebook, "Don't fuck with the Jedi Master, son."
Hands down! Mr. Video, you had the greatest reaction to this movie. Watching it with you was like watching it for the first time! Again!
Thanks man!
Lol I can see why you had a hard time clearing this one with the cuss words 😂😂😂❤️ this is a classic. And the Nun is the lovely Carrie Fisher!
May have already been mentioned, but Kevin Smith originally wanted Prince for the end. Prince wouldn't do it, but offered Morris Day instead. (There's a whole story about Kevin Smith working with Prince for a small documentary at Paisley Park)
Fun fact: Kevin Smith's real life wife is one of the diamond thieves
And his daughter Harley Quinn Smith was Baby Bob.
@@radwolf76Who would go on to play Jay's daughter in the Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, which doesn't get enough credit. I personally loved that one as well as Bill and Ted's third movie, both phenomenal.
All the guys in this movie are in 2 hilarious movies: Dogma and Mall Rat. Lots of surprise actors. J&S Strike Back came out after Dogma and Mall Rats. I went down the rabbit hole of these funny movies back when Blockbuster Video Store existed.
Jay taking a rip from the saber wasn't even in the script. Jason Mews came up with that on the set the day of shooting, and Kevin Smith was all like "That's fucking genius, why didn't I write that?"
Hi Mr V, so great to see you. Thought you'd deserted us haha. So excited for this. Its 10pm here in England so watching in bed as I've been up since 4am. So enjoy the rest of your day. Hugs for Bella and love to you and your family.❤
Dude I've been asking you for this for months!!!! Finally delivered! My man 🤘
Most of those actors are real good friends with Kevin Smith, he's Silent Bob and also the man who made the movie. Ben and Matt have been in many of his movies. You missed out on so many references to the other movies and you really need to watch them.
Kevin Smith has some epic friends. He basically just asks his friends to come hang and make a movie.
I have waited a loooong time for this movie to land on this channel
At the gym but man can't wait to watch this later and chill with a prerollie, one of my favorite movies growing up!
Mooby's restaurant is from the movie "Clerks". Jay and Silent Bob is a spin off.
Oh fuck yeah !!! You should do all of their movies !!! 🤘
I’m soooo happy you did this one! A childhood classic!
Leo, East Tennessee here, did you watch Mallrats? It goes with the Clerks movies too.
Nah you're the GOAT for this. Lock in for the rest of them bro
As many times I've watched this movie I never realized that George Carlin played the hitchhiker
Watch Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Clerks 2, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, and Clerks 3 in that order. Its called the ViewAskewniverse.
you just helped me pass a few hours, thanks much man
Fucking loved this movie as a kid and still love it to this day.
Kevin Smith has a great catalogue of movies. Some I don't personally vibe with, but others like this, Dogma and Clerks 2 are some of my favorite movies to rewatch when I need a good laugh.
I suggested that too! Geniuses!!
What am I forgetting? Clerks movies, Mallrats, Dogma, Chasing Amy, Jersey Girl... I feel like I'm forgetting some.
Of course some you do 't vibe with. If you said you vibe with all including Tusk that would be alarming
Seeing people watch this the first time is gold😂
You need to check out more Kevin Smith(Silent Bob) movies. I suggest Dogma or Mall rats next. You'll also notice same actors/actresses in all his movies.
this film is just such a good laugh, i think everyone had fun making it
So much context lost. Awesome reaction my Bro
My favorite Kevin Smith movie, so stoked you watched this one first bc it was also my exposure to the Askewniverse.
Still one of my seminal comedies. GOAT!
Will Farrell and Jason Lee cracking up at the end seems so genuine, that smile can’t be fake 🤣
Fantastic movie. Always have a good laugh. Also, this movie has to be the most big name cameo filled movie ever.
"Oh dang, I'm snitchin"
Leo never change. 😂
probably my all time favorite movie you are the goat
Backstory: Kevin Smith had Damon and Affleck in his movies prior to this. There were rumors back in the day that Kevin Smith took what Damon and Affleck had for GOOD WILL HUNTING and fixed the script. They won the Oscar for writing it so it was a big deal.
This is by far my favorite View Askew movie. Hard to believe it's over two decades old now. Absolute classic at this point
This movie has been old enough to drink for 2 years?! My God I'm old! I wasn't even legal drinking age when this came out! But I did finish a nice fatty as we walked into the theater. Haha.
You gotta watch Mallrats for the chocolate covered pretzel joke. Js 😂
Nobody feels that way about you mah guy. You’re the best movie reactor on the internet
I couldn’t be more excited to see my boy watch this movie and to sit in with him and see what he thinks. Hell yeah 👌🏼
Leo, was this the first Kevin Smith film you've seen? There are 4 other films that predate this one, with 3 of them being referenced here. Clerks and Mallrats have minor callbacks, but Chasing Amy contains the basis for this movie. Ben Affleck's and Jason Lee's characters are the driving force for Jay and Silent Bob's adventure. They began in Chasing Amy.
I saw this in the theater when it came out. Tremendously funny. Had a blast.
Never forget seeing this opening day, Powered up to the Max and had an incredible time : D
Love the new edits keep the heat coming
MR VIDEO
The intro is still stuck in my head so many years later....
Soooo funny
This movie is so funny, and Will Ferrell kills it in his role
“Hey, stop stealing monkeys.”
“Fuck you.”
“Fair enough.”
It hysterical you didn’t realize that cocknocker is the same actor that played Luke skywalker, mark hamill.
The old guy was George Carlin a comedy legend
My all time fave movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so pumped you put this up!!!
Hahahaha Chocolate covered Pretzel killed me hahahaha Mallrats is such a underrated movie hahahaha
"Say, would you like a chocolate covered pretzel" is from MallRats movie. You should check that one out. Ben affleck and Matt Damon are in a lot of their movies like Dogma
jay & silent bob have cameos in scream 3 since both were filmed on the same lot. Similarly, Wes Craven appears as himself here and many cast members from Scream 3 also appear as characters here.
When your actor friends owe you a solid. You call them up when you write a movie like this. Jays in the air!
Ugh I love this movie! Definitely knew you would get to it eventually! Great vid! Lol I can literally quote this whole movie haha
This is probably the ceiling for kevin smiths work and his best movie.
You can still laugh at anything...if someone gets offended, fuck em...😂
24:24 dawg you're the fkn best im over here dying on my side of the screen🤣🤣 .. divine fkn timing choosing this movie W
Hell yeah! Watch all the "Clerks" movies and the movie "Dogma." They all have Jay and Silent Bob in them. There's a few more but those are the good ones.
This is one of those movies that's as funny as it is now as it was back then. I was fortunate enough to see this on the big screen with a friend of mine who had a set of preview tixs way back then. And believe me when I say that the entire audience was just eating it up and having a great time.
One other thing regarding the amount of star power you see in this film is because a good chunk of them previously worked with Kevin on his other films, so they were more than happy to show up in this.
Def give Dogma a viewing as it is pretty much a continuation of Jay and Silent Bob's adventure.
Oh, and one last thing...Kevin has joked about this a few times in the past that he was the first person to bring Daredevil to the big screen, who you see in the background during the studio chase scene. 😆
Long time viewer, first time subscriber.
Saaame
Everyone who's ever been in a Kevin Smith film, made an appearance in this movie! Clerks, Chasing Amy, Dogma.... they're all there!!😂😂😂
"I'm a noble rabbit" lmao....all time movie
Whatever else I was watching, that can now wait.
oh this is amazing bro please dont deleted it like you did with loaded weapon reaction..ill check it out in a few hours just having some drinks..
I remember seeing this in the theater with my then best friend. That joke about, "who would pay to see a Jay and Silent Bob movie, and then they look towards the camera and the audience, had my friend and I glancing at one another and cracking up. Such a simple and clever little joke. Please watch more Kevin Smith movies. I think you would really enjoy Zack and Miri. It has Seth Rogan and has so many great laughs.
Zack & Miri is soooo good! So funny. Yesss pleaseee watch!
Please see dogma next with jay and silent Bob!! Also starring ben Affleck and matt damon. t's the movie before this one. you'll get more jokes!!😅
For some reason i think my favorite joke is jay asking "whats up with the knife, we having cake or something?" 😆
My second favourite Kevin Smith Movie, and one of the funniest comedies of all-time. Plus the cast is off-the-charts awesome.
Great reaction to a great movie.
Side not the Nun was Carrie Fisher, Princess Leia from Star Wars. And C#$knocker (Mark Hamill), was Luke SkyWalker.
This is where I got my username from lmao "be smooth, be don juan dellanooch"
4:13 thanks for including the music! 😂❤
Congrats on the insane amount of ads in this video. You deserve it:)
I love this movie so much! 😂 wish you would have watched the Jersey Chronicles in order though. You would have gotten alot more of the jokes. Can't wait for the next one.
He's probably going to watch Dogma next, and keep missing the jokes. Mooby's is the only connected reference to this one. In Chasing Amy, the boys mention going to Chicago as the first indication of Dogma, but the people who drive his decisions are idiots.
What a strange synchronicity! I just watched this movie literally 2 hours ago and I haven't seen it since like 2002.
fun fact, this was my first film in the ViewAskewVerse. Loved it so much that I went back and watched all of the rest, though I had actually heard of Clerks before.
The Jedi master is Mark Hammel. Also known for the role of Luke Skywalker.....so he IS a Jedi master
Silent Bob will talk now and then in other movies as well, so he’s not ‘Completely Silent Bob’ just ‘Mostly Silent Bob’
Great reaction Leo 👍👍
Saw this 7x at the theater. Love this movie.
The blooper reel is hilarious.
The reboot is hilarious too.
I could listen to jason mewes talk all day haha i love the sound of his raspy voice 😂
It's that heroin voice. No hate on Jason Mewes, he's been sober for awhile now. But I think I read he was still struggling with addiction when this movie was being made. As a recovering addict, every opiate addict has that raspy voice.
Watch the whole universe in order. This movie will hit different.
