He made it very clear on the video that he's not about being a Tour player. He is showing what is possible when a ball is hit that far. It's not about "playing" golf...it's entertaining and pretty cool at that! Kudos to those that admired his short game skill anyway.

The par 4 18th at the club I grew up at was similar (MacGregor Downs). You had to go over water either way, but there was the short way or the long way. Back in 1973 they held the U.S. Professional Matchplay Championship along with the Ligget & Myers Open stroke play tournament at MacGregor Downs (I was 12 and had just started playing golf one year earlier). The top 8 leaders on the money list were exempt into the matchplay tournament and the top 8 on the leaderboard after 2 days of the Ligget & Myers Open got the other 8 open spots. The stroke play tournament continued on Sat & Sun concurrently with the matchplay tournament. I remember following Jack Nicklaus during a practice round and his caddie Angelo Argea told him he didn't think Jack could carry it long enough to go the long way (it's about a 280 carry which was pretty far in 1973). Jack teed it up and cleared the water by about 10 yards on his first try. She sheer speed and power of his swing is incredible. At the bottom of his swing his left foot is off the ground with all of his weight on the back foot. His hip turn on the down swing is very quick and powerful. Hypothetically, and magically if I swung one time as fast and powerful as him , relative to my normal swing speed and power, it's possible that I would have torn ligaments and a thrown hip.

There's a long drive guy near me and I challenged him to drive a par 5 I estimated at 360 if you cut out of bounds over a bean field. He finally agreed,but the summer he was going to try it the course closed down.
Pretty cool to see someone do something that wasn't even possible in a video game lol. I remember playing Tiger Woods golf on Playstation (don't remember which year) and on this hole the best you could hope for was to land the ball on the fairway leading up to the green.
His setup is causing him to not be addressing the ball correctly for an accurate long hit. He should be about 3 strides back and one to the left and approach with a hockey skate-like cross-over. Hole in one's are much easier than putting :)

For those three balls he got close to the green he did in fact get eagles. In long drive you get 8 shots to hit the grid. You have no idea the training these guys put in.

Jacob Sever it’s 387 to carry the water. Not to the flag. 406 carry would be 19 yards further then the edge of the water. So it makes sense.

tvtotalforever you don’t carry the ball 400 yards with Ernie els tempo. You swing hard enough to come out of your socks. It’s long driving - not golf. For those three balls he got close to the green he did in fact get eagles. In long drive you get 8 shots to hit the grid. You have no idea the training these guys put in.
Say what you want about the "eagle" its just exciting to know its theoretically possible for him to hole and 1 a par 5 without and crazy bounces.
