My first thought "Huh. That turret should be sweeping back and forth to shoot all the bugs swarming it."
My second thought. ".... Yeah. It would lock onto a Charger and empty its drum into heavy armor it can't possibly penetrate wouldn't it."
situational understanding was unable to make the cut for the turret's AI
Yesterday, mine locked onto the ground in front of itself and emptied its magazine into the dirt. It wasn't on the edge of the drop-off or anything. I can only a guess a bug fell through the map, but I can't be sure.
Love the heat effet on the barrel of the sentry. And maybe you should add some recoil where they fire with the rifle to feel less airsoft-y. But good job 👍

I know, I only learned how to add in noise effect to animation keys in unreal the after I uploaded. Amateur move.

The goods :
- ambiance and atmosphere
- sound design
- general concept
- muzle flash and bullet tracets effects
- the POV style shot of the turret
What I think you could improve on :
- the animation looks stiff at some moments, especially when they're shooting
- the first shot of the turret lacks intention, it's a very "look at my 3D model" way of picturing it. It could be improved by a change in composition and/or linking it with the previous shots. Aka, we're not seeing the camera filming the turret but a helldiver looking at the turret or something like that.
Verry good short film, if you improve on those lil details I'm sure it'll blow up even more. Also how much time did you need to make this? It's the kind of info that greatly changes an opinion on a project.

For the timeframe it took me about 2-3 weeks to complete. I’ve a full time job so some corners were cut.

Absolutely love the shot of the turrets P.O.V. whit the camera moving and shaking! Gave me chills! Also great coloring!
Maybe it was more demanding to make it so, but it would be great to add some recoil to the Liberators!

I figured out how to do recoil for the second episode, what was I thinking not adding it in the first I don’t know 😂
@@dustypixelsUE5 Another tip would be to rise up the gun sfx and maybe add some dirt spilling on the camera when it makes sense. But that may cross the intended aesthetic. Anyways, great job! Ready to see the next one!
The quality is phenomenal, if ever there was a time to make a Helldiver series, it should be the community that makes it, great work.

I would love to see more war torn environments. More bodies, vehicles, craters. Maybe make it more intense the more completed an operation is? And maybe some environmental factors that are scripted to happen. Like a wildfire or ground sitting earth quake

very cool, defineitly need at add recoil, love the explosive effects on the barrels and the heat distortion, the enviroment looks very cool, and i know itl'll be a pain given the amount of bugs but you gotta change up their animations a little bit, aweseom work though cant wait for part 2!

I would make one about the Hive Lord
Imagine a team is getting extracted, and, as the last helldiver runs towards the shuttle, the ground starts shaking and all of the sudden, a giant worm attacks Pelican 1 from underground. The shuttle explodes and now the only survivor, the helldiver who was late for extraction, has to face the hive lord all alone.
Oh here now we’re talking. I’ll leave it in the storyboard pile and see what happens. Who knows what next episode let loose 😉

I feel like it would look better if we see what the turret is shooting at and not just the terminids calmly walking around it, and the helldivers feel stiff when firing their weapons as you're not showing the affects of the recoil.

but I think you need to add recoil to the guns and maybe vibrations(?) to the turret?(not sure) to make them feel more weighted? or heavier? the overhead view exposed the steady barrel without any animation at all and tracers(the tracers should be near continuous since its that type of turret that unloads a buttload of ammo) were coming from behind it. Also it should mow down the first closest target followed by next(etcetc you know what i mean probably) and I think you're trying to achieve Erata Prime's annoying sandstorm with the atmosphere but it seems.. too orange. idk. just my two cents. send more.
