I have a 2021 Ram 3500 6.7L diesel and I love driving it. Be prepared for some expensive maintenance items though.... oil, filters, etc. They're way more costly than a gas engine.
@ Ram and Chevy make good trucks too, they all have there issues, pro’s and con’s and so forth. They’ve all made some big mistakes including Ford. Just about getting the right tool to fit your needs and preferences 👍
Did you find that the 350 handled different than the 250 when empty? I test drove both last week and I bought the 250 w 7.3. I don't tow that often and the 250 seemed to me to be smoother and handle better. They were both xlt's

I am looking at almost the exact same truck and share your concerns regarding range, ease of fill ups etc. Even with a diesel I am seriously thinking about an auxiliary tank or replacing the existing fuel tank with a larger one from Transfer Flow or similar.
Long bed gets you a 48 gallon fuel tank. 800+ mile range with no camper. 300+ towing my 5th wheel at 70mph. Also really nice not to have to deal with any sliding or auto sliding hitches. Also rides better.

If you didn’t want the bells and whistles, stx package is a option, I have a 24 f-250 xl with 6.8 no issues but planning on upgrading to fifth wheel, I’ll be getting a dually when that happens for stability
Nice truck. Love the color. I have a Ford and a Chevy, both diesel. I just got a Chevy High Country in 2024, loaded, it even has the Z package on it. Long story short, I got a lot of truck for the same price as a cheaper model. Not many people want to pay for all the bells and whistles. I know you are a mechanic and one thing you want to look into is a fuel additive. Newer trucks are pushing a ton of PSI on the fuel pump. With lower sulphur in the fuel there is a loss of lubricity. Archoil or XPD are a must. Plus, it will reduce Regens. Enjoy the new toy.
Motor oil geek and repair geek just released a video yesterday I think it was. XPD and Archoil were top, I was using Archoil, but switched based on the results.

There is also the oil contamination issue that I saw if you do not bring the truck up to a good temp. JB Reviews I think, need to ensure truck has the high idle feature.

One thing I did on my 18 L5P was the fleece fuel adapter to use a donaldson filter so I don't have to mess with the plastic unit, mine was damaged when I bought it so it needed to be replaced anyway. It retains the heater and I haven't had any issues starting, but I'm not in the north anymore. Even though my lml's never had any issues in the cold, 20"s and below and had no heater.

@@saltytrips I've got 225k on my Duramax and it was saying I need to replace the DPF. I ran Archoil and it helped clean it up, no more codes and frequent regens. I'd highly recommend an additive for longevity of the truck starting day 1. Needing to replace and pay someone to repair the emissions is not cheap if you can't do it yourself. Esp with the CP4 the additives add lubricity which help keep that CP4 alive.
@@bryanostrander4789 actually come to find out the bed hooks attachments are a thing of the past, the old style like our 2022 don’t work with them. You just hook stuff to the plates on the bed wall now.
I'm an RV transporter. I have a 2019 F250 with 6.7. Pulling trailers your size I normally get anywhere from 10 to 12 Mi per gallon depending upon wind. Something you might look at is getting an auxiliary fuel tank or having a larger fuel tank installed. Nothing better than being able to really load up when you do find a good price on fuel. I have 335,000 trouble free miles on mine. I'm sure in your research is you've seen about the cp4 fuel pump. Use good additives, and I would get the S&S disaster prevention kit installed. I believe that the internet hype on that pump going out is overblown, but it is still a thing. The disaster prevention kit will save your fuel system if it does go out. So you would only be out the cost of replacing the pump not the 17,000 for the new fuel system. I firmly believe that diesel is the only way to go if you're going to tow a lot.
@Toddstjohn Just went to a 6.7 as well from the 7.3 gas. Would you recommend the hms fuel filter system as well? Read about the plastic upper filter having issues.
@OmahaWayne i considered it but didn't feel the juice worth the squeeze. After all these miles I'm glad i didn't spend the money. I don't think it's a bad product at all. I can see the benefits. If I changed the filters myself I'd absolutely do it.
@saltytrips I only buy fuel at high volume stations. Usually truck stop chains. This helps to avoid bad fuel. I didn't do the disaster prevention kit until after warranty was expired.
You're in Florida!! If you live out West, the HD version is a night/day difference to climbing 6-7% grades FOR MILES! Save your money and leave the big hill states for the HD version.

No doubt diesel will be better pulling heavy loads constantly. The problem most people have with the modern diesels is daily driving them. The gas is better for daily driving or medium loads with the occasional heavy. Lot of people buy a diesel for a daily driver, putting around town or off road and wonder why its in the shop all the time. How you use them matters.
That's awesome man. I just traded my 21 godzilla xlt for a 24 lariat ult sport with the 6.7. Went back with the long bed for the second time in a row. I don't see me ever going back to a short bed again. First thing I did was hook up to that thing with forscan to get rid of all those darn dings for seat belts and crap. Then I turned off all the lane keeping and the new auto cruise control. I prefer the truck stay the speed I set it :) I will say the thing I hate most about the new truck is the buttons on the steering wheel. What ever ford idiot that changed the layout of those buttons to what they are now should be fired and quartered. It's just horrible now.
I locked mine in with the 75th anniversary splash with forscan and everything stay locked. Plus disabled all seat belt alarms and chimes. Even though I use them, I got tire of the seat belt screen and chimes when I started the truck.
Man, I gotta say that I’m a little disappointed. You were one my favorite channels I turned to for good Godzilla content. No doubt you have an awesome new truck, though. Sad you left the 7.3 family but I’ll find a way to move on. lol. Congratulations!

@keithkrueger5352 Mine is close to his, 24 6.7 lariat ult, sport but a long bed ,12400 gvwr payload 4213. You get a higher gvrw (400 pounds) because of the longer wheelbase, but the payload on mine is about the same because of the 48 gallons of fuel.

@ that was my biggest complaint with the 7.3 we did the same trip two years in a row the first time was with the 7.3 I averaged 7.5 mpg and about 200 miles of range with the 6.7 ho i got 12.2 mpg and it was showing about 340 miles of range. It was so nice not to have to worry about finding gas

2014 F 350 Lariat 6.7 here. Once you get used to the torque and the feeling of power you're commanding, you'll be addicted and wonder what took you so long. lol. Ford by far is the worse looking truck. The front end is hideous. And their interior is very dated. They don’t change much. Good luck with your diesel. I will never go back to a new modern day diesel.
@ I think the only one that might do good in 2027 is the Ram with her removal of def and using a new heating system that might actually work but I’m just tired of the emissions on these diesels and that’s why I don’t drive them anymore. It’s no fun being stranded because emissions.

@@saltytrips The f250 got the 10r100 the f350 gets the 10r140. They do shift different between the two. 10r140 is definitely the more stout tranny
I just did the same thing. I loved my gas 7.3 but the diesel is great.
