- On this episode we take a sneak peak at the Monta Triumph, a watch I've been excited about for quite some time, from a brand that has really impressed me thus far. Here are my initial thoughts as well as a bit of an un-boxing to check out Monta's fine packing and presentation. Let me know what you think in the comments below, thanks guys!

Looks amazing. Great choice with silver.
Thanks Rob
Nice review. Am I alone in being quite tired of the over the top presentation boxes? I'm buying a watch, not the momentary "experience" of unboxing. Especially when they just wind up stacked in the closet. I'd rather save a bit on the price with cheap and secure packaging.
Patrick Kelly exactly! But I would definitely want this type of presentation on a watch that costs over 5k
I'd live with cardboard and bubble wrap if it knocked a bit of that 5k.
Partly agree with you. Ultimately though, the actual cost to the company of building that box is probably in the two figures rather than three. If you’re willing to pay the quoted price to buy the watch anyway, then that extra touch of class isn’t such a bad thing.
I have owned this same version for over a month and it has made all of my other watches obsolete. It took away my Explorer urge totally. Great review!
TERRY williams Awesome, thanks. Stay tuned for my full review coming soon.
Wow, the silver looks so much nicer on video than the pictures on the site. I've been eyeing these for a little while and think I'm pretty much sold now!
Nice first quick look. I'm sure it'll be as good as the ocean King, just in a more field watch or explorer style watch. Monta is perhaps one of the more pricier microbrands, but they sure seem to back up the price with the quality and level of execution as well as very nice presentation such as the box which really seems to add up to many major luxury brand levels.
That's a very good watch. Amazing finish.!!!!
Wow you have so many watches. I really like their ocean king. You do the best lume shots!
Thanks Boss! Appreciate the feedback
Saw these at the Wind Up NY show, and the gray dial was the winner by far. Love their Everest straps, as well. This and Ocean King really stepped up in person. Pictures on their site do not do them justice.
Holy hell! That’s a sensational watch! For about 1500$?! There is NOTHING that touches it. I’m blown away.
Reminds of a VC overseas a little bit
It just looks stunning. I love the shape and finishing of the links and how the bracelet tapers. I'd love to know what you think compares well with the Monta?
Tough to say, some comparable in one way but not in another. Essentially, anything that's comparable in style or spec aren't comparable in quality and if they are, then aren't comparable in price price point.
For anyone who is wondering what kind of wood that is, it's Macassar Ebony wood.
fantastic build quality and value.
Great channel and more importantly great content. All the best in 2018!
MAVERICK WATCH REVIEWS thank you Sir and right back at you, we really do need to get together for a collaboration one of these days!
Average Bros...Agreed! What part of the country are you in?
MAVERICK WATCH REVIEWS San Diego, CA
Average Bros...Well that rules out a collab...lol. I'm in Virginia.
MAVERICK WATCH REVIEWS family vacation?
How is the finishing / quality compared to the Ginault Ocean Rover?
Although the OR is quite nice, the Triumph's finish is both finer and more complex.
Alright so that is impressive.
I have ginault, but from the pictures of triump, its not comparable at all.. Maybe triump is the best bargain out there
Very nice! Love these watches :)
such a beautiful watch thanks for the review unfortunately I can get an eterna at half the price almost with the same movement
Does it have a screw down crown
Why so many dislikes? unknown brand high price i guess ? :D
was wondering the same
Also the fact that the watch looks like a cheap Seiko or Zodiac. Then you have some knuckle head who's being paid to promote the brand acting like he's holding a PP.
I know you have never handled one, or you would never call this cheap
Fuck.... super nice, but the lug design kills it for me
Great watch! I'll buy a Sinn 556i soon and I think it will be as good as the Monta!
Oni FraKiMarq I own a 556IB and 556A, they're awesome but not nearly as good as my Triumph
Average Bros okay thank you
How large are your wrist? I have an 8" wrist and I used to own a Sinn 556i and flipped it because it just wore to small for me, does the Triumph wear larger?
Charles Ford mine are 7.25" and the Triumph definitely wears larger than the 556 due to the fuller dial and lug shape
Thanks for the reply.... I think your info just pushed me over edge for ordering one.
I think the Monta Oceanking looks a lot better.
Hey where is the comparison to the sinn 556a, totally should make one!
And that’s cause I’m either buying this monta or the Sinn.
nice. date window doesn't help though
Where’s the follow up, bro? You’ve been MIA for a bit. Hope all is well.
Big Bub Wise getting caught up at home but will be coming strong in 2018, just need to get around to kicking it off first, thanks for looking out. Make sure to follow me on Instagram for updates, thanks.
How much?!
This is a meh for me. The Ocean King is a nicer looking watch in my opinion, however the massive crown on it is a deal breaker.
Came here after watching your Sinn 556 video. In that video you said this watch has a better fit & finish. The camera IMHO does not show that, in fact I think this watch looks pretty cheap. I'd love to see one in person.
lol, okay thanks
Average Bros, average man, average reply, average laugh. makes sense.
Were you watching in 144p or something?!
looks like nobody likes the Monta
