  • On this episode we take a sneak peak at the Monta Triumph, a watch I've been excited about for quite some time, from a brand that has really impressed me thus far. After getting some long term wrist time with this piece, I have to say it's a current favorite and I believe has the potential to be a true future classic. It really does just have it all. If the Oceanking was Monta's love letter to the watch community, the Triumphs are their wedding vows. This watch not only proves itself to be a keeper, it also solidifies Monta's status as a brand to keep your eye on. Let me know what you think in the comments below, thanks guys!

Nice review. I like your honesty, and your reflections on the fit/finish. And the low light footage was awesome. Thank you.
    The watch looks great.

I've been looking at a bunch of watches in the "field" category lately, everything from Hamilton to the Omega Rail Master. This one really seems to hit all the marks, at a price that is attainable. I'll be adding a Triumph to my collection in the coming months.

Been looking forward to this review since your intial impressions back in December. I ended up getting the same silver dial on bracelet. Bro, it is fantastic! The bracelet is butter! It fits so smoothly on the wrist. It might be classified as entry level luxury but I think the “entry level” part needs to be dropped from the description because the Triumph is a masterful piece in all respects. I love it.

Great looking watch. The red print on the slate grey sunburst dial really makes the watch pop. The build quality looks top notch as well.

Pretty good looking watch. I love the thinness of the casing with beautiful crystal case back with the movement. Also, the bracelet and clasp were done superbly. Honestly, not so much of the dial fan (personal opinion), but everything else was done beautifully. When Pelton Perseus is demanding $2500 for their "run of the mill" type watch (and kind of copy/homage to Audemars Piguet), this Monta is definitely above most of micro brands.
Great introduction of the watch and thank you for your wonderful review.

Incredible watch and great review, the low light shots with the blue lume and that sunburst dial sold me on this watch. The fit and finishing, the fact the watch is regulated and the quality of the bracelet, these are the things that matter if you wear the watch everyday not how prestigious the brand is. Love the asymmetry of the dial, good mix between field watch style numerals and the more dressy sunburst dial. Brand aside, I think this is 90% or more of a Rolex Explorer for much less and you get a date function which again is a necessity for an everyday watch imo. Completely agree with all of your comments around micro brands and being non homage. Have been thinking mainly about this vs the Sinn 556i but I think this review won me over. Will be adding this to the collection at some point in the near future. Thinking about getting that green dial which I think is really unique.

As always very nice in-depth and Superior Quality review...
very grateful for tackling both very famous and not so famous watches all together .
this is a nice watch , i like the field - dress watch inspiration .
i tend to be a one watch kind of guy and this one checks all the boxes ..
but i would go for a Sinn 556 i rather than this one for the heritage of it .

I’m not sure wether you set the date to six on purpose or not, but it seems an odd design choice as it looks odd for the rest of the month, the lack of indexes is a bit of a let down, the no quick adjust clasp is a let down especially as the rest of the range has them, I am so close to ordering one but there’s a few things like these that put me off at the price

How does this compare to the Christopher Ward C65 trident vintage you reviewed? Maybe you could do a Monta, Sinn 556, CW comparison? 😊

    • @AverageBros

It's head and shoulders above those watches but it should be for the cost. If you can appreciate the higher levels of finishing, the Triumph is the way to go. If you're not looking for that luxury feel in fit and finish, the 556 is a great option with heritage. Lastly, if you like the idea of what these the other two more expensive watches bring to the table, the C65 hits most all of the same notes for a lot less.

Is this Monta the black dialed version or the silver? Using the Monta website as a guide I couldn't tell. Debating the black versus silver. Let me know. Thanks, Roamy360

One of the best relatively new microbrands out there with one of the highest price point, for a microbrand, BUT, I think totally worth it and justifiable give the unique design and fit and finish as you say. I don't think you showed the package it came in, but it's pretty nice as well.
Between the two current Monta models I believe exist, this one is my favorite. I think the gray dial is probably the one to go with, although the green dial is a nice subdued green, almost a olive or khaki green tone, but radiant.
What do you think? The lume reads fine, but it may have been nice if they had lumed the numbers as well.

Totally. Used this full review. Since the colors in your videos aren’t always representative of how they are in real life, would you say the silver/grey is more subtle and it’s more black? Was wanting the black dial but this looks great in your video and with the red lettering too...

    • @AverageBros
      @AverageBros  6 лет назад +2

It's not black at all, it definitely reads as silver/grey in person

Nice watch yes. So many watch reviewers wear their watches wrong sadly. They are meant to be worn just behind the bump on the top of your wrist.
Try tripping and falling then stopping yourself. Or do a pushup. Snap goes the bracelet, and or the crown gouges into your hand. Uncomfortable wearing that way also.

IMO a watch that tries to be many things and yet in the end very meh. Brand's name reminds of the the very forgettable 1980's Chevrolet, the Monza. Being totally honest I am not a huge micro fan.

Thanks for the paid advertisement... I'm personally tired of overpriced homage watches. They need to go like Christopher Ward, develop a following and then slowly increase prices... they are charging WAY too much right now.
