o Bottom-line - The Triumph can either be appreciated as a super-premium upgrade to mainstream darlings, like the Hamilton Khaki Field or as a Rolex Explorer alternative at just a fraction of the cost
 Even with the emergence of Tudor’s newer Ranger and BB39 options now packing in-group manufacture chronometer calibers, Monta’s still able to undercut their pricing, while rivaling their execution levels

I’ve always loved Monta. I prefer the original sunburst dial, but the refinements and new clasp on the newer version elevate it over the older units. I’ll enjoy seeing this company grow.

Thanks for the comparison. You saved me $1700. I like the improvements, but the older dial looks much better. Look forward to seeing the next generation.

Coming back to this, I appreciate the subtle updates they've made to this piece. Every watch bracelet that is made in the oyster style really needs to have half links because the oyster link is just so darn long. I've had issues with Tudors and other oyster style bracelets because of this. Jubilee and BOR don't have this issue. The alternative is a really long clasp like on a Submariner glidelock, or the Christopher Ward Sealander updated clasp, but I'd much rather have half-links and a shorter clasp, than a big long clasp and no half-link. This is a great looking piece, besides the drab green. Can't wait to see what they replace it with.

Although I did not try this specific color on, I saw it at Chicago Windup and it looked great. I did try the black dial version on and let me say I was really impressed with it on my 7.25" wrist. This model did not stand out to me before, but I really liked this watch a lot. It felt like more than an Explorer alternative and more like its own thing. From what they've said, it sounds like a new generation will come maybe sometime next year after a gap following the sell out of this new green and the rest of their black/silver inventory. It does look like the green is the only one with the newer 56 hour power reserve movement, unfortunately. That change really elevates this watch in my opinion. That is not to take away from the rest of the watch by any means, but it puts it into great nice, but not too expensive field watch territory. Nice work on this green version, Monta and I hope the next gen doesn't mess too much with what makes this line great.

That's exactly what I believe they will unfortunately. The Ocean king went from being a nice semi-original diver with bespoke monta elements to a boring Submariner knockoff. Same with the new skyquest. Such a shame that their whole brand identity, especially the beautiful machined indexes are gone. I'm not sure whether to buy this new green triumph before they destroy thr design, or maybe one will be disappointed in owning a watch from a company now making homages😢

That new green is super nice looking! May not be for everyone but it definitely matches the aesthetic of the model.

I like the new green. The old one wasn't bad, either. Was always hard to choose between the grey and the green dials on the Triumph.
If this is it for the Triumph.. I'm curious if that means a new version of the Triumph will come out next? Or, maybe a completely new design, but in same field watch genre? It would be ashame to see this design completely disappear as it was always one of my favorites and frankly one of the few that retains more original Monta design uniqueness. I have to say some of their newer interations of the Skyquest and OK start to feel a bit more derivative and Rolex-esque.. I particularly miss the original Skyquest design which had a lot more unique design details that set it apart from other GMTs.

Awesome video as usual! I wasn't aware this version had the upgraded 56 hour PR. Do you know of any other non-GMT watches using this movement??

I'm torn between the two, I own the first generation green dial triumph and I love it. Monta truly knows how to spice up a classic design! The company is top-notch and they are more than accommodating. The people who run the company are the type that if you ran into them on the street, they would be incredibly classy and modest. The mission of Monta is incredible and I would implore any who are skeptical to check them out at the very least.

Love my first gen blue dial Triumph. Easily my most worn watch. I do long for an on the fly adjustable clasp but get along just fine without. Would love to see an update on this model. Maybe a COSC certified movement along the lines of Formex?

Ever since I got my Noble, I have become a huge Monta fan. For about $1500 there are few options out there to offer everything you get with this brand.

Just ordered the black dial. Super excited for it to get here. Really like monta’s designs. Not crazy about what they’re doing with the newer version of the ocean king, as it’s lost some of their identity.

Good to see incremental improvements I like Monta not sure if I would buy. On the lower end my Hamilton khaki automatic 38 works fine and if I wanted something more luxury I might go Tudor Ranger.

@@RabbitWatchShop I guess it’s all mental really if a Monta is near 2,000 usd I can buy a Ranger for $3000. Also could get a Longines Spirit for around $2000.

    • @RabbitWatchShop
      @RabbitWatchShop 11 месяцев назад

@@MrBacchus18that’s sound logic. I’d venture to state, with the exception of heritage, Monta has an edge over the Longines. Personally, I’d just go for the Tudor. I’m leaping to my first serious Swiss piece by purchasing the newly released Tudor Black Bay 54. Most expensive piece is my sold Seiko SBDC101, a $1,200 watch.
Regardless, good luck. May life treat you well, friend.
