I got this watch in last week and I'm pleasantly surprised. It lives up to the hype so far. The size was a bit of a concern but now I find myself reaching for this rather than my 42mm dive watch. It does wear a little larger.....more like a 40mm because of the thicker lugs. I think this is the perfect size and I enjoy wearing it more and more every day. Nice review.
Nice looking watch. Great review. A little too small for my tastes. If it was was a vintage classic, then the size would be acceptable for me, but it is not. The watch community has been saying that oversized watches are done..They have been saying that ever since I got serious about watches, and that was about 10 years ago. I'm still waiting for everyone to start making 38mm watches again...yeah that's not gonna happen anytime soon. While I don't want a 50mm watch, I still prefer a 42-45mm. To each their own.
One is four+ times the price of the other so it's a bit of a wonky comparison. But because cyclops are so fuuuuuuuuuuuuu-ugly then the Monta Triumph is a better watch.
Has anyone drunk the MONTA Kool-Aid ? I personally can't get past that 2K price point? Here's a list of some IMHO better choices. ALL PRICES AS OF TODAY ON JOMASHOP! 1: Breitling Colt $1995 2: Ball Hydrocarbon $1595 3: Longines Heritage L28824569 $ 1795 4:Oris Big Crown GMT $1820 5: ETERNA KONTIKI 44 $ 1800 6: Oris Aquis $1549 7: Hamilton X Wind $ 1075 8: Glycine Airman Bronze GMT $ 699 9: Tag Heuer Aquaracer $ 1925 10: Bell & Ross BR0392 $2075
I would trade any of these for the Monta. It's a better feeling, more comfortable, and better refined Rolex explorer with the date and a great affordable well decorated movement.
You really need to get up to Tudor and Omega to start having a watch that beats out what the Monta can offer you. I chose an Oceanking over an Aquis, Tag and Longines, and you should too
sean puffy catacombs that's nothing compared to what the watch community nicknames any new seiko model that comes out. Us watch guys are not all Star Wars dorks to the extreme.
@@thedustyengineer it has a very "oyster" case, the dimensions, the arabics... There's nothing wrong with homage watches, but this one is a bit steep for the age of the brand. Id happily pay 600, not double that though. Either way i think its beautiful. Money would be better spent on a khaki automatic, however.
Cichlid_Visuals it definitely does not have an “oyster” case. It’s a completely different shape. Also, many field watches have numerals? It’s basically the number one defining feature of a field watch. I have a Hamilton field khaki auto. It is a wonderful watch, but it isn’t anywhere near the quality of the Monta and I wouldn’t even mention it in the same breath. The Monta Triumph finishing is more on par with Omega and Tudor than Hamilton or Rolex, I think. I think it is an excellent value for money watch that is competing in a weird price category (basically against Oris and Sinn, but with better quality and less brand recognition, IMHO).
@@thedustyengineer thats the main issue. No brand recognition, and steep price point for being so unknown. That and the sellita movement vs an actual eta throws me off. Sellitas are not exoensive, they are basically clones and not the most reliable at that. I wouldve rather seen this watch with a miyota 9015 to maintain the 4hz sweep and a 600$ price point. Would be much more successful imo, and probably more reliable.
@Kerim Temel i agree with you on that. Its uni directional winding is not the most effective and makes the rotor spin like crazy if you ever do a quick movement with your watch hand. They are damn accurate though, ive got several that are all under 1 second per day.
This watch reminds me of the Rolex Explorer without being a homage.

The rubber strap reminds me of the rolex rose gold yacht master strap
Man, this watch is tempting...
Great (as always) Thanks. Love USA watches. Could you do a review of Ginault? Love those
Very nice & classic brushed steel on the bezel, its a winner here, cheers 👍😆
How does the Triumph differ from the Noble
Great watch, but I much prefer the blue and grey sunburst dial versions.
I like the design and thinness, but a bit pricey for a microbrand. Concerned about service, warranty, etc.
Great review thanks.

This watch gives me the same feeling that the Rolex explorer does.
which is better this or Rolex Datejust?
and why :)

$1550??? I sure hope there is a significant discount.

Mebey I'll do a shoot out with them
Mate, the dimensions of more half the watches you listed have disgusting dimensions. Like your wife. The Hamilton x wind? You havin laugh?
Great looking watch but looks like something that would be in the $500-700 range as opposed to $1500+
Looks nice but for the cash, a Sinn 556 just seems like a much better buy.
Nice watch, but the price for new unknown brand is too high..It won't sell
😂this comment didn’t age well
All Brands were unknown at one time.
Nice watches, but the names they give them are incredibly dorky

That's a pricey explorer homage
What makes it a homage? It is a watch inspired by field watches of the past, it has elements of MANY field watches.
