Note to everyone: this is how cats raised by loving people are! This cat is a cat, not a cat-dog. People refer to friendly cats as being like dogs quite often, but this is literally just what most cats are like. Just like there are grumpy, skittish dogs, there are grumpy, skittish cats.
I call mine lions!
100% this. This is a normal, well-loved cat.
Exactly. I always wondered what the heck people were going on about. I’ve never had a cat that wasn’t a little cuddle baby
Most is a strong word.

He doesn't act like a dog, he acts like a cat. This is just what happens when you spend quality time with your pet. The more they experience interaction, the smarter they get

I have found after years of owning cats, that they become very responsive and communicative if you spend time talking to them. They do recognize many words, and they know you are talking to them to tell them something. If you repeat many of the same sentences often, it will become clear they know what you are saying. They also will change their meow to fit the situation, and it sounds like they're trying to talk. My cat Lily and I are very close, and she knows many things I say, and will look me right in the eyes. If I say I'm going out, she reacts one way, if I say it's bedtime, she runs up the stairs. If I say "Tangie" is outside (a stray that she is friends with), she'll go to the glass and look out, or look at the door. Her vocabulary is quite extensive. But it means we must believe our animals want to understand what we are saying. They become better pets with communication. Much better. And they also know we care enough to try.
Many have no idea how intelligent, social and communicative cats can be, possibly even more than dogs (some cats).
SIMPLY, WHEN ONE SPEAKS FROM THE HEART, EVERYONE LISTENS...🙏💖💞🐾⚖🕊🌅🌎☸
cats love it when you talk and sing to them, even if that sounds terrible to everyone else LOL
Yes. A lot of mammals are incredibly intelligent, and can totally understand a lot of words when you talk to them enough. My dogs and my cat are listeners and talkers. I talk to them constantly since that they're babies, and they communicate pretty well
True. My cats know more than 35 vocabs, and they response accordingly. I teach them since they were little and they understand instructions by including the known vocabs in a sentence. Its like living with a 3 or 4 yr old child.
i don’t really see how he’s like a dog, he’s almost the most cat cat i’ve ever seen
I know right. That's what I was thinking. 🤣🤣🤣
Me to.
yep...all cat.
Amen to that, this is just a video of a woman talking about her cat.
I think it was the single moment of the cat fetching something lol
This cat is definitely a Maine coon. This breed is incredibly playful, talkative like a chirping noise, loves water amongst many other traits like tufts in its ear, breed origin...
Gorgeous feline.
That’s the first thing I thought. He looks and behaves just like my Maine Coon. The chirping and trilling melts me every time 💜
Birdie has quite the EXPRESSIVE personality and reminded me of my cat Rainbow who also was a Maine Coon. She LOVED to chatter back at me with those chirping noises. She was a chatter chirper chat in the box! Lol! We loved having our convo's together Rainbow and me. 🌈
Plain domestic cats can have every. single. one of these attributes. The world didn’t suddenly become overrun with pure bred cats just because Instagram taught people the name of a couple of breeds. Shelter animals can have long hair. Moggies can be talkative, inquisitive.
@@shamelesshussy calm yer tits. They're just noting physical and behavioral traits that are common with cats that have some Maine coon genes.

@@shamelesshussy True, but I personally reckon it's highly likely that Birdie may be a mixed breed that definitely has maine coon in him.
He doesn’t act like a dog ..he acts like a typical playful loving chatterbox cat. She adores him and he’s flourishing with the love and attention she gives him.
he acts like a norwegian or siberian mix. looks like one too. Notoriously doglike cats who tent to squeak like that. lucky shelter find imo, very cool breeds. healthy & active & friendly. Just gotta brush em a lot.
Woman raised this cat like a dog. See how that turned out.
The cat turned out normal. He doesn't act any differently then any cat I've owned.
I have 6 cats and only one talks when he is hungry, but my cat "baby" talks all the time. When my male "sudan" is hungry he will shake both his paws one at a time, sit, lay down and jump from our island to counter through a hoop. I had a toy poodle who I taught my sign language to, and she would do the things I signed her from across the room. When I want to take my cats for a walk (on a turnabout dead end street) I ring a crystal bell and they all come to me to go for a walk. I call them my lions because they follow me like I see people walk lions!!love my babies!
Yes, there is *_nothing_* unusual about this cat's behavior. That doesn't mean he is any less cute, of course. I think a dog-only owner wrote the headline.

@@Pari28 I have meet one Maine Coon in my life and I have to agree. Birdie’s most likely a Maine Coon.
This cat uses so many languages of love and I'm sure she has no idea that she is because she always raised dogs, but the cat slow blinks with almost every "word," snores, rolls over to expose the belly. It's so nice to see a cat who just plainly adores her owner
I thought that was so lovely! She's a pretty woman with a beautiful heart.

Generally speaking,ALL animals “adore” their owners as long as the there’s food, attention and love.
I disagree. My cat is exactly like him and we've never had dogs. It's just the cat really. Some are docile and loving and some are aloof even if they're raised in the same way.

His behaviour is not canine at all. All the "weird" things he does (chirping, fetching, etc) my cat does too. He´s just a very expressive cat, like most cats are when you take the time to bond with them :) ...beautiful cat ♥
Exactly! He’s just a cat being a cat. The lady was just putting in the time to treat Birdie well and she was seeing the benefits of it.
I adopted a kitty who never stops talking and I was worried that something was wrong, but he just has a lot to say I think.
And probably doesn’t stink like the dogs hehehe
Sometimes his little "meow" or "chirp" does sound like a high pitch bark🐶🤣😂
Agreed - I have five cats that do that to some degree, but the one that does that the most is the one that's the closest to me. They talk, they're totally personable, they chat just fine. Awesome kitty she has! 😻
My family had a cat that was two years older than me. He looked a lot like Birdie and also lost his tail to a car accident. He passed 43 years ago and I miss him every day.
I love how she explained it. She didn't say she was never a cat person, just that she always had dogs. This is how I was growing up. But then when I ended up with a cat, I fell in love with them.

I am like this, I’ve had heaps of cats my whole life and when I finally got a dog for the first time I realised I was a dog person, but sadly we have too many cats to get a dog now. But we are planning on getting a pit bull next year and hopefully training it to the best of our abilities.
I was afraid of dogs and allergic to cats, but then I got both anyway in the end.
It's no wonder you're obsessed with him - he is absolutely adorable! I'm so glad you found him.
@Transaction Empire because it's extremely common, lol. My cats have all been talkers. My neighbor was watching my interactions one time and was amazed "did I just see you have a conversation with your cat?"
She obviously understood too. Why is it so surprising?
@Transaction Empire Have you never met cats? Okay some cats are very quiet but some breeds specially talk all the time and love answering their humans, like main coons and he looks partly main coon. I think it helps too if you talk and socialice with your cat, many don't realise how social cats can be but he's probably from a specially social breed.
He is absolutely a gorgeous kitty cat. His whole being is Adorable! I wish him a very long happy life...
You know what is cuter than this adorable cat?
You, of course…
You are so enamoured of this lovely cat,and it’s a joy to hear you talk about him!
@@patty7791 that’s adorable
My 1-year-old acts just like this! The reason Birdie talks to you so much is, probably, because he's mimicking you (or previous owners). When you talk to your cat a lot, they'll gradually learn to do so back. My partner and I chat with our youngest all the time and she's a non-stop talker as a result! It's easy to assume cats are naturally standoffish and just lay around and groom themselves all day, but every cat has its own unique personality and they can be just as goofy and playful as a dog if they wanna be. They're truly amazing animals.
Tabby cats have helped
Me with soooo much love
They are therapy cats
They know when You need some Love and

I feed two feral tabbies. Their personalities are just one of the best qualities they have…Which is all of them!
I have a stray mother cat with 4 kittens that's been taking shelter in our balcony, we can't take them in because my dad hates them but he's fine with them taking shelter in that balcony since no one goes to it a lot and we do feed her as much as we can. I talk to the mother a lot and she sure as hell responds. She's the prettiest stray cat I've ever seen and her children are just as gorgeous
Lol my first cat would talk to me all the time. The cat I have now will only talk if we're in the bathroom or the kitchen. She's not asking for food either, she doesn't like anything but dry cat food. I joke around and say she's not really a cat sometimes. I wish she would talk to me though!
I have two cats, one is introverted and likes to be alone, the other is playful and follows you everywhere. I love them both
His high pitched meows make him even cuter, I love him

I’ve never had a cat but I’ve certainly noticed how a lot of them “converse” by vocalizing in response to a human speaking to them. I kind of marvel that they understand the concept of conversation this way.
Adult cats actually don't meow at each other, they just meow at people. Recent studies show that cats learned to meow just to communicate with humans. It's the only species that has a unique language developed just for that purpose. Probably because we're to dumb to learn to speak cat.
@@meredithbrasca4596 I've read that cats don't meow at other cats, but I have seen, for example, a cat meowing at its dog sibling while vigorously playing with each other in their home.

This is a very high IQ Kitty. Responds to 2 or 3 or 1 syllable American English words. My 2 Siameses are similar but your Kitty is uncannily comprehending and responsive, answering with similar utterances. I was sort of amazed at Kitty's timbre and repertoire. Very delightful to watch. Thank you.

I had a cat who acted and even looked like Birdie. I rescued him as an abandoned kitten who actually walked up to me from beneath an abandoned building crying. He talked all the time and earned the name “Chatty”A friend of mine said he looked just like the cat who saved her family, alerting them of a house fire, waking them up in the middle of the night. They lost everything but their lives thanks to “Sam”. We were blessed with “Chatty Sam” for over 13 years. ❤️

Brandon mcmillan is the most gentle, thorough and effective dog i've ever encountered. My friend and i love the dog show and never miss it. So many times we've shed a tear of happiness just seeing a dog's life changed forever when proper training is applied and they go on to live their lives the way they should. I have brandon's book ruclips.net/user/postUgkxK8-VQWpYThx4IC6MiIvb6VS1ebTzzdxq in two formats. Not only the paperback version but also the kindle version to refer to when i don't have the paperback along with me. I have used his methods with my cavalier kc spaniel and turned a non-disciplined furbaby into a companion who has traveled thousands of miles with us across the country. He is a near perfect dog thanks to brandon's methods. I don't get one cent of kickback for recommending brandon but i do it because i love dogs. They deserve to be given a chance. Brandon's mission in life - to rescue dogs and place them in a forever, happy home - is very dear to my heart. I recommend his methods to anyone who has a dog - young or old. I've seen him take even old dogs and teach them. Brandon was an animal trainer before his current mission. His parents were animal trainers. His methods are the best i've ever found. Your furbaby will thank you for spending the money on this book. Don't hesitate - it is worth every cent.
I love Birdie's voice. It is so expressive and he is obviously anwering his mom. Birdie clearly has a great life, and he gives love back to his mom.
I grew up with dogs and never had cats until after I was married. We have always talked to our cats and had conversations with them. We love them to death and cuddle, play, and sleep with them. One plays fetch and likes water. This doesn't mean they're like dogs. Through tons of interaction, socialization, and playing with them, they are simply cats. Still different than dogs but super loving. People, as I once was guilty of, seem to not understand cats. They can be trained, they understand a ton of what we say to them, we understand what different sounds and meows of theirs mean, they're very loving and want to be loved as well. ❤️
You go out of your way to see to his well being. You talk to him. You listen when he talks to you. You greet him when you see him. You acknowledge him when he walks past you, often reaching out for a scritch in just the right spot. Your actions show the cat he is secure and a valuable part of your little family. You give him confidence. That confidence and security really lets the fun come out of cats. I have enjoyed my cats so much.
Yes perfectly stated! To offen people just don't give cats enough of a chance. They don't automatically love everyone like many dog breeds do. You have to put in the work just like we would with other humans 😊 cats are great! 😁
I 100% agree! I'm not sure how much of it they understand, but I always greet my cats and talk to them whenever I encounter them. I've set aside designated time to play with my 8 year old cat every day, and over the course of a few months I've seen her transform her indifference towards toys into kitten like playfulness. She just needed some extra attention 💖

Maybe they came across financial hardship or had to move somewhere with no pets allowed... He's definitely worth keeping!
Aside from mother cats talking to their kittens, cats don't meow at each other. They have specifically learned to talk to humans to get what they want from us.

Oh, I just love him. He is so communicative. I wish you a long journey with him, he is such a keeper.
My Maine coon would say “mommy, mommy” walking down the hall towards me. She mimicked my daughter so well I could not tell the difference. She would say “no” if she didn’t want something. Hello Kathy how’s the weather over there
I wouldnt go anywhere but a shelter to be honest, My previous cat Daisy who unfortunately passed in June was a shelter cat, she had been abandoned by her owner and had been living rough for a few weeks, she was a calico tortie, so beautiful, dont understand how anyone could abandon her like that, just leave her outside and move house. she was like birdie, so interactive, so communicative, and would bring you her ball of string and drop it at your feet to play with her. 3 months ago we went back to the shelter and were adopted by the most beautiful silver grey tabby with british shorthair features. she follows me everywhere, shes like glue!!! not quite as communicative as daisy, but just as much of a sweetheart. please go to a Shelter if you want a cat or a dog. You will never ever regret it.

I do too. All of our animals have always been rescue animals. They've been wonderful!!
Birdie is a Maine-coon cat. They're known to be deemed "dog-like" due to their vocalizations, fetching, understanding of commands, and love of water. I had one who was exactly the same!
Definitely alot of coon in there, but I'm not sure he's 100% pure bred, hard to tell from the footage. Could be a coon-norwegian mix perhaps?
@@kimkimpa5150 yeah, i thought the same thing
No, he's not Maine Coon. He's a Norwegian Forest cat. They're similar but NFCs have a less angler face and don't have the ear tufts that Maine Coons do. We've had both in our family - our NFC, Hattie, lost part of her glorious tail too. Such a shame he lost his.
Maine-coons are the best cats.
Ive always had these, only cats I get. You can walk them like a dog, w/o a leash of course. Walk to the store, come out, they'll be waiting. Go to the park, they disappear into the trees for an hour, and when you call their name they'll bound out and answer you. Coolest pet you can have.
my 3 cats are the same way. they respond to everything you say, love going on walks (I have harnesses for all of them), know tricks (sit, stand on hind legs, shake (putting their paw on your hand), and catch which is where they wack your hand when you put it to them in a karate chop motion.), and overal are just the best. they’ve never hissed at anyone, im not sure they even know how to lol.
He behaves like a cat, loves sitting in boxes, baskets and suitcases and many cats respond with chirps and a variety of meows, and hop, play and scratch.
I was wondering she probably thought that cats are "evil" like many dog-people that have never owned cat. So seeng that the cat is loving immediately is associated with dog. She seems like a standard cat to me.

That’s the sign of a loving human.
His appearance suggests that he is at least partly Main Coon, and these cats are known to be talkative, affectionate, and playful. They have been described as "the dogs of the cat world".
I was thinking that too. He's gorgeous! 😍
@@Cat-tastrophee Yep. Me too.
His looks and overall personality and temperament suggest a Norwegian Forest Cat
I had a main coon. She was the sweetest cat and was nearly human. I miss her.
Yes, I have one that looks just like him, her father was a purebred.
Very sad she lost her tail, mine has a long bushy tail..swishing about, even before I can see her coming to me….when in bed.
She’s 10 yrs old now, very bossy, would even scold me sometimes 🙂
There are few things more rewarding than being able to carry on conversation with a cat 💕

Not only is Birdie a gorgeous angel... his adorable personality is absolutely irresistible! His chirpy "conversations" w/his dear Mom are priceless! They're both truly blessed to have one another.💕X💕O💕X💕O💕X💕O💕
He always responds to mommy whatever she asks, so talkative, beautiful happy family. Love your video.
He's gorgeous! He is a Norwegian Forest cat, btw.. My late cat looked exactly like him. They are a wonderful breed, and they live a long time. Mine lived to 21! I wish you both many happy years together :-)
Yes, you are correct - He is a Norwegian Forest Cat, and how blessed they are to have found him! They're somewhat rare and are confused many times with a Maine Coon. They have some similarities, yet they are different. Norwegian Forest Cats are lighter on their feet, have a higher voice pitch, and love love love to talk and chirp! Extremely friendly and not moody like Maine Coons can be.

Really? I have a cat who looks exactly like Birdie. My family always thought he was a manecoon
Not Maine Coon? 🧐 Those are sort of dog like in their behaviour as a breed anyways.
Since he was found on the street, he probably is neither Norwegian nor Maine Coon, but a mixed breed that has roots tracing back to one of the breeds. He has a wide muzzle but no ear brushes and his face is fairly flat, so definitely strongly mixed heritage by now.
Ouch! I've always had the horrors about cats & reclining seats, poor Birdie must have been in agony.
Beautiful chatty boy.
I, too worry about cats around recliners.
Me too, that's why I put both my recliners chair in the garage. Cats are to precious to take the risk
@@margyb7469 Hubby has always wanted one but I wouldn't have one if you paid me to as they're so dangerous for cats. Don't blame you putting yours in the garage.
@@anniemac3075 After putting mine out I was reading comments on a cat video and one person also mention how dangerous recliners are for cats, sadly she learnt first hand.
@@margyb7469 Oh how awful, poor cat & people. When you think about how cats get into anything if they can it's quite obvious (to me & you anyway) recliners have no place in their home. Tilt & turn windows are also lethal to cats when they try to get out through open ones, don't want to even think about that.
Omg~~! His voice~! His little mews and chirps~! So freaking adorable~! AH! I love him so much!!
It's easy to be obsessed with cats because they just all seem like miracles.
I had a feral kitten that was scared and lonely that came to my fence . Didn't want a cat although I started feeding her outside the fence because of my dogs. He decided he was coming in and moved into my garage where I work a lot. I'd hold my hand out and say pet yourself and he'd go back and forth. I treated him like all of my dogs and would throw commands at him and he always listened. Turned out to be a fantastic friend that had a great life with me.
What happened to him?
@@TheStepmonkey Passed away from old age. He had a very long life.
Gorgeous cat.
I don’t think he behaves like a dog at all. This is not an unusual thing to see a cat squeak and communicate. My friends cat squeaks. My cat communicates about everything. We are so bonded.
That’s because I have spent a lot of time with him at home and even travelling with him. When you form a bond with cats it’s amazing how they can communicate so effectively. My cat and I meow out to each other from 200m away. He lets me know he is nearby and to wait for him. We play Tigi meows and I copy his meow combinations. He vocalises quite a bit! It’s wonderful!!! My best friend praise Jah for his amazing design!
I agree. I have cats that like to fetch too.
It's because people are biased, they think that cats are antisocial and that cats bond with their houses and not the owners, so when someone talks about how their cat is friendly, loves to be petted and play (which is normal cat behaviour) people think that it's "doglike" lol
@@UnstealableJewel absolutely! Every cat I've ever had is extremely affectionate. When you raise them with love and respect they will be your best friends.

@@hollyshaw-elliemae I've heard that they like that!
His little chirps are sooooo cute!
What a wonderful companion to have! He reminds me of my cat Koi Chitto, who lived with me from kittenhood to his death at 21 yrs, this last August. Descended from alleycats for at least two generations, many of them Siamese.
I adopted him & his twin sister from a close friend, who insisted that these two be kept together because they were unusually close since birth. The two didn't look alike or have very similar ways. Koi Chitto was always very talkative while his sister was unusually quiet, making soft chirping sounds occasionally. Like two parts of the same cat, they were together until she died at age 17, which nearly killed Koi Chitto. He suddenly aged & became sick within two months, the vet giving him only 6 mo. to a yr to live. But i helped pull him through the near-year of severe mourning, although he never regained his health like before.
Anyway, your cat seems a lot like him: very talkative, with a wide range of sounds, answering you whenever you speak to him. I've never met another cat that vocal or with such a range of speaking. I talked to both cats, more than is usual by far, from kittenhood on & they understood at least much of what i said. Each cat answered if i called, & Koi Chitto even came to me when asked. He was a major entertainer for his sister & me, loved playing games & doing acrobatics for us, kept us constantly amused. It was his place, too, to speak for his sister Ama--he always asked me for whatever she needed.
When he was about ten, he suddenly began saying 'hello' to me & to our neighbor upstairs. I had always said hello to the cats when i returned, so they had heard 'hello ' at least a few times a day for years, spoken in context of my returning home. They were in many ways more like dogs because i had always had dogs before, all my life, had never had a cat live with me before.
One day i was sitting in our small courtyard waiting for my laundry to finish in the adjoining area. Koi Chitto knew i was there & wanted me to come in--he & Ama hated being left alone for even an hour. Our door opened onto the courtyard, which adjoined the main door to the building (a 3 story Sp. Colonial house from the late 18th c, centered around the courtyard, the entrance adjoining the courtyard). I was talking on the phone when i heard this very clear 'hello'. Sounded like a human, spoken perfectly with no cat accent. I answered the hello by asking 'hello' back. It was the cat! He answered me each time in perfect English, changing the inflection of the 'hello' to fit whatever i asked.
I knew he wanted me to come in but i wanted to hear him speak in English some more, so i kept asking him things to get an answer. Each time, he used 'hello' but changed how he said it to fit what he meant. It was incredible! His hellos kept getting more demanding, till finally he got frustrated with it & said hello in such a disgusting demanding way that he might as well have said 'get in here now & quit playing games with me! Right now!"
I was hesitant to tell anyone he had been speaking in English, but the next day when i ran into our upstairs neighbor Barry, Barry asked me if i had heard Koi Chitto say hello. It turned out the cat had started saying hello to Barry the day before too. Barry had often played with Koi Chitto through the gap under our door, pulling pieces of straw or grass for the cat to chase. (The cats weren't allowed in the courtyard--far too risky because other tenants often left the door to the street open, a busy street.)
Koi Chitto kept saying hello to call to Barry or to me if one of us was in the courtyard, never to anyone else. We wanted to make a video of him saying hello but he said it only if he was inside our apt & we were in the courtyard. And then there were problems with the bldg & we had to move a few months later. Koi Chitto stopped saying hello. I emcouraged him to speak again in English but he wouldn't.
Maybe your cat will someday decide to speak in human language. I've had two friends who taught their cats to speak a word or two in answer to certain questions, sort of a trick to amuse friends. But I've never heard of another cat just speaking out of the blue like Koi Chitto did. Maybe yours will though. Regardless, he's clearly a wonderful cat!
The only thing one of my cats learned to say was “NO” in a very clear voice. Freaked out my cousin’s son when she said it! She didn’t like to be cuddled, so when I picked her up to cuddle, there would be a big “NO”. 😁
I chuckled out loud when you said "no cat accent" 😂. Cats are just so special. I enjoyed reading your and your kitties story. Thank you for sharing.

My husband & I thought ours was the only cat who plays fetch like a dog, lol. His name is Gizmo & he's a bit over a year old. We got him from our local animal shelter. Yours is the first cat that we've seen do it besides ours. What amazing fur babies we have!!
Mine does it! She brings me her toys to throw. She especially likes her string and her little rabbit fur mice.
Got a 18 going on 19 year old cat who plays fetch with straws. Never anything else just straws.
On the RUclips channel Tara, you can see her Friesian horse fetching like a dog!
It took me a while to realize that my kitty was playing fetch, he had to place the toy on my face during my nap finally.
I have four adult cats, two out of four will play fetch. I throw the elastic pony tail circles for them. My house has those things under all my furniture but we just make them happy cause they make us happy. I had a solid black female cat ten yrs ago, fluffy. She was the only female I’ve seen fetch. Maybe it’s the predator, fetch food, bring back to your family (I.e. slaves). Lolol. But mine love it
How could anyone 'return' this little angel to the shelter? O.o He's perfect!!
At least they didn't just drop it off in a park like I have seen people do here in south Florida. Can you imagine that 1st night. Poor thing, all confused with tons of predators lurking around. People who do something like that to an animal will answer for it one day. You are gonna pay for evil, either here on earth or where ever we end up.

I have 1 here in Florida, another in NH and I feed 3 "community" cats. I make arrangements for them when I leave to go home in the spring. I still feel sorry for them. This kitty looks so similar to my baby who passed a couple months ago. He was literally my best friend and I was his person. He was born on our front porch and had to be bottle fed every 2 hours. I was 13 when we got him and we had him for 13 years (he would’ve turned 14 last month). I miss him so much. He literally spent all day with me and I love how much trust we had with each other. Definitely a huge loss and he took part of my soul with him. I feel that everyone should have an animal companion because it’s amazing to have such a beautiful connection with another species.
Im so sorry for your loss!🙏
Oh god I'm so, so sorry... My kitty companion is also getting up there in age (she's 13) and I try not to think about it because it makes me tear up. It's honestly such a blessing to be able to be a part of these wonderful creatures' lives. I wish you the best in your grief and healing. ❤
I’m sorry for your loss, he sounds like a great kitty :)
I lost mine on the first weekend of school a year ago... and that weekend was the worst! The pain of losing a cat companion is like no other. Three months later I adopted a rescue (always rescues) and I cannot live without a furry friend. All this to tell you he lived the best life with you!
We all feel your loss. Many years ago my family had a British Blue-moggy ('grey with a suntan', we called his colouring...) who had had A Hard Life for some time before we heard about him from my Mum's friend (he was abandoned by neighbours who moved away and was stealing HER cat's food). We adopted him and of course he absolutely ruled the house with a velvet fist. His attitude was always that he had had A Hard Life and that it was our duty to make up for this, but for all his bolshiness and awkwardness, he was of course totally lovable. We had him for a decade, but then chronic health issues caught up with him and we had to let him go at 14-ish. That day is etched on my memory from 28 years ago. RIP.
He’s got so much personality, what a terrific character! You two are so lucky to have each other!
God bless the people who adopt from shelters and give these special animals second chances I have three rescues and they are just the pure joys in my life they give such unconditional love and love is the most important thing!

Yes he is a Maine Coon...I had one for 13 years and he died 2 months ago...best cat!
I was thinking the same. He looks just like my Maine Coon (Charlie) whom I loved dearly. He acted more like a dog. So that makes sense. Charlie use to play fetch just like a dog. They are such “Gentle Giants”. Sweet, cool cats!

I think cat fetching is more common than people think. I've had 3 just regular mixed house cats that fetched. It's probably down to the cat's personality and/or the interaction you have with them when they are kittens!
I had a Maine coon who looked like him and talked to me allllll the time. He was the best. Miss that cat.
Came here to say that. Mine would also play a game with his nephew in which they’d take a ball to the top of the stairs, drop it, chase it, and bring it back to the top.

It's not "a little mishap" at all. Losing his tail is a really awful thing for a cat's self perception, but mostly for his balance, as a cat needs the tail to counterbalance his body. He's very sweet. I'm sorry he had to go through so much, but I'm happy he found love and a forever home.

Totally get it - my girl is at least 16 - she had been handed in twice. I saw her profile on Cat Protection and she just was meant for me. I turned up to say I wanted to meet her and they looked confused. She hated everyone and the other cats bullied her. I got on my hands and knees and was warned she would hiss and swipe - she just looked at me like 'where have you been?' and then licked my nose. She still does zoomies. And from the day she came home with me she just followed me straight to bed and has her side. No hiding for weeks like they thought she would do. Sometimes there just is a mysterious bond. If there is - feel blessed.

Please do keep in mind you never know peoples' situations. If you can't provide for a pet with your current income or living situation, it is absolutely valid to surrender them to a good shelter. This kind of attitude shames people into not doing the "walk of shame" to the shelter and just dumping them on the streets instead.

@@natnielsen8472 No, not a Wegie. I own both. This cat has a square muzzle and does not have the flat nose to forehead head shape of the Norwegian Forest cat. Put the two side by side and you will see the difference. Classic mistake. Norwegians also don’t trill like the typical Main Coon’s but not all Maine Coon’s sound alike either. The head shape is the biggest difference between the two and the breeders will know the differences, I have a Norwegian laying in front of me right now so I can see the difference. What a sweetheart! I had a female calico, who didn't talk as much as yours, but also enjoyed talking (chatter) to birds she probably wanted to attack when seeing them out the window. One time, another cat outside jumped up on the window ledge to see inside, and my cat started screeching, believing the outside cat was muscling in on her territory.
