  • Joined by my friends Jon and Lee, we parked in Hayfield and made our way onto Kinder Scout plateau via William Clough.
    After reaching the plateau, we followed the northern ridge along The Edge to Fairbrook Naze, and then along Seal Edge to Seal Stones.
    We then quickly pitched our shelters to avoid a heavy rain shower, I was using my Mountain Laurel Designs DCF Trailstar with my new DCF Trailstar Inner.
    My first wild camp on Kinder Scout, but certainly not my last.
    I hope you enjoy watching.
    Cheers

      Aye, it’s a unique blend the kinder water. Absolutely loved it up there. Can’t wait to go back. Really quiet area even though it was a bank holiday.
      Love the trailstar mate. Massive inside but you can pitch it over all kinds of obstacles. The new SilPoly version should be class.
      All the best mate. 👍

    Another good video mate. That trailstar looks quite strong ans the noise the rain made hitting it gives an idea of the feel of it.

    That was some crap weather you had there mate. You're getting yourself about a bit between the national parks I see, it's good to see a bit of variety. I went up kinder scout once, the same way you went up yourself and the weather was also horrendous. Another good video mate 👍

    Well a man of your calibre with an NVQ level one in cooking, Eating that firepot crap 🤑🤣. You should try Real turmat or expedition food 👌(although getting a bit pricey now!). summit to eat and some of the adventure food meals offer the best value for money . 🧐 Also a tip for camping buddies they both need to adjust there backpacks ....carrying them way to low 🤨 ATB😉

      Might try a Real Turmat meal next time, although they cost the same as a restaurant meal 🤑
      Good tip about the packs. I’d noticed they were a bit low but being the good mate I am I though I’d let them suffer. #learnthehardway

    Weather started nice there mate, good job you pitched the tents early, that rain 😮, love your setup Steve 👌 definitely looks loads of room in that inner, nice and light, what’s the tarp like getting up, does it take practice? Or is it fairly easy? I find them dehydrated meals good if you’re going light, have you tried the summit to eat ones, tikka one is canny, looks like a dogs dinner but tastes nice 🤣, spot on Steve, great camp and location, will have to get myself down there sometime, atb Mick 👍

    • @belowaveragewildcamper
      @belowaveragewildcamper  Год назад +1

      Hi Mick. Definitely a steep learning curve with pitching it. Worth a few practice sessions in the garden before taking it out into the wild. Now I find it easy. Key things I things with the DCF version is the max height of the
      Inner pole should be 120cm or less. Any higher and it’s difficult to get tight
      panels. Also, need to use quite long guy lines and make sure the guy lines at the corners follow the line of the seam. Other than that it’s easy once you learn it’s quirks. The SilNylon and new SilPoly version are far easier to pitch, and cheaper. Much better value for money.
      Was watching a video reviewing the Durston X-mid 1P in SilPoly and DCF. That looks like a class tent. You have one don’t you?
      All the best mate 👍

    • @otf.outdoors
      @otf.outdoors Год назад +1

      @@belowaveragewildcamper yeah I’ve got the xmid1p solid inner, I’m looking forward getting it back out soon, that’s easy to pitch really, but need 2 poles, and quite a few pegs if you want it fully tied down in all the points, I’ll end up getting a Mld tarp, I know I will 🤣🤣🤣, love the look and lightness of that setup, but it could be a while..lol
