Only been to High Nick Cup once ... nearly thirty years ago when I walked the Pennine Way and we had walked from the East ... and the final approach and impact of the view I shall never forget ... I always liken the valley being created as if God had taken a large ice cream scoop whacked it into the ground and just dragged the spoil away .
Well a large ice cream scoop or more precisely a large ice scoop is exactly what happened. Ice and water cut that valley. If you get chance to see the geological map of the ‘Cross fell inlier’ you be amazed at the geology. It’s an amazing place and I never tire of it. It’s amazing in the winter snow. @@unclepeteswildadventures I am aware as to how this feature was created .... IIRC it was detailed in my copy of Wainwright's Guide to the Pennine way ... I wish I were thirty years younger ... however I have fond memories of Hill Walking ... enjoy the hills .

It’s a toss up between High Cup Nick up and Gordale scar for the most amazing Uk landscape imo. The bivy will take any amount of high winds but I chose the site I did so the battering don’t keep me awake 🤣Thanks for watching atb
