Its been 46 years since I first attempeted the PW South to North, three weeks later I finished it, for the first time. I returned the following year 1976 to hike it North to South. I loved both trips and, after finishing my 1976 Hike I started my Infantry training as the oldest recruit, I was only 21 and got the Nickname Grand-dad being the Oldest one of the Intake. Needless to say my Army nickname was Grandad for the next 3 years. I told no one of the hikes until we had finished training. One of my instructors guessed I had done some map reading training and some camping but he did not believe I had Hike so far in just three weeks. So I showed him my Pennine Way Companion Book. The look on his face the next day was priceless. His first words to the whole intake was "What did you do in the 3 weeks before arriving here", most say a few country runs to get fitter", he then turn to and said "Do you want to tell them or should I" I replied "You Can, but I doubt they will believe you". He just asked to Borrow my "Pennine Way Campanion" Book again just to prove that I had done something he did not think he could do. Those few kind words got me through the 18 weeks training with a smile on my face. Not a months go by now that I am retired that I do not watch someone Hiking the Pennine Way. Thanks for letting me relive my Hikes via you Videos. Tony the Retired Hiker in Essex.

Inspirational video, absolutely loved it . The fact you’d done no training, your tent leaks was a breath of fresh air. RUclips is full of videos from content creators who’ve trained for months and spent thousands on gear . Going out on my own adventure soon , it’s good to know there’s like minded folk out there 👍🏼

      Thank you for your comments
Glad the film was enjoyable to watch. I have been filming my adventures for many years now. Most were filmed before youtube had been invented?
You might enjoy the first film I made it’s called walking cape York I am only Suggesting it because there certainly wasn’t much planning. Also, I had very minimal equipment.!!
All the best for your upcoming adventure .

Another great video, Jon. I started watching your videos with the ' Travelling India on Royal Enfields' video that 'The Exeter Rider' who you bumped into, recommended. I've watched them all. Some more than once. You've got a great talent for making them and I've been inspired. I've done a couple of trips, on my Royal Enfield Himalayan round Europe over the last couple of years, and have started planning 'my' big motorcycle adventure - South Bucks to Capetown - for 2024. You, and one or two others, have inspired me to get out there and have a go, and during the times when I have doubts I watch an inspirational video to make me believe again. Riding round the coast of Ireland in June this year.
Keep it up, Jon. Looking forward to your next one.

@@jonepoulter7524 Thanks, Jon. Although, I don't think I'll be taking the Himalayan, as I'll be 73 in 2024, and the Himalayan is nearly 200kg, and quite a bit more loaded up.
I want to try to stay on smaller roads and realise that a lot of those will be dirt roads. At 200kg plus, it will be too heavy to pick up when dropped a few times in short succession, so I'm looking at lighter bikes like the Honda CRF250, CRF300, or the Yamaha XT250.

I stumbled onto this excellent presentation. I was blown away that he actually bought a covid test while walking alone and feeling ok. I never bought into this con job and i hope he didn't take the jab so we can see more videos from this guy. Beautiful to see England like this.
