A lot of people say that the Creepers the most iconic Scooby monster, but I always felt like Capt. Cutler was far more iconic purely for the simplicity of “Ghost Diver”, plus he’s had way more cameos and callbacks than the Creeper ever had.

Grosvner Mcaffrey Space Kook I also think is more iconic than the Creeper, though not as many cameos, Space Kooks gimmick of “Skeleton Space Man” has inspired many new types of horror Sci-Fi creatures.
Idk about more iconic than the Creeper but I definitely think he's more iconic than some of the other ones like Miner 49er and The Tar Monster

It's funny how Cutler went to the trouble of faking his own death, disguised himself as his own ghost and his wife pretended to be a witch who summoned the ghost just so they could steal ships and get rich selling them.
I love Scooby Doo where are you?! My favorite show since i was a little boy and still i am fan of scooby doo.
I had a VHS of Scooby-Doo's Original Mysteries which featured the first five episodes in the series, so watching these episode 1-3 reviews has been super nostalgic for me considering how much I loved re-watching the collection.
Hassle in the Castle was my favorite, but I found it really cool when the "ghost" of Captain Cutler turned out to legit BE Captain Cutler, only very much alive. Plus I liked his glowing suit. Then of course there was the mistake of Shaggy having Fred's blonde hair in that one shot which always bugged me XD.

This is my favorite episode because it was the first one I saw, the next one was "Jeepers, it's the Creeper". I also like the old Diving suits.
one of my favorite villains and even liked that he was in the live action movie, he looked great in that. I use to draw him a lot as a little kid and he would go past on the intro so fast that I would get annoyed, back then you couldn't pause TV unless you owned and then there'd be lines going through it. I always wish a slasher villain had that same outfit

Nope. Depending on where they live he might get in trouble for running around in public wearing a mask. Assuming that counts as a mask. But pretening to be a ghost to scare people is not illegal. Much to the relief of folks who dress up on Halloween.
Technically speaking I think it's less that they suspected anything illegal was going on and more just the gang wanted to investigate the mystery to find out if he was really a ghost or not. I don't think anyone trying to figure out if Bigfoot is real is doing so because they suspect him of running a real estate scam, for example.
@@nooctip now couldn’t he just act like he was overly paranoid of Covid and wear that suit ? It’s not illegal to wear a mask anywhere that I know of especially nowadays.
For some reason I always loved Scooby's weird laugh in this episode. I wish they used it more throughout the series
Same it sounds so bizarre actually it sounds more sinister then the laugh you actually hear throughout the intro and closing of the show and the epsdoies themselves

Widow Cutler is voiced by Jean Vander-Pyle, I think (forgive spelling). Wilma Flintstone hanging out with Scooby and the gang.
When I think Scooby Doo that image of the glowing diver is the thing that comes to my head first as well as the gang for some reason.
I can't wait for you to cover the Puppet Master episode because that episode scared me as a kid and to this day I still get the willies every time that guy who's dressed exactly like Shaggy just stands there watching him and Scooby, no music playing or anything. He's just standing there and staring at our heroes and even straight up tried to murder Daphne and Velma at one point in the episode
I really hope the Doc and Sid reaches 100k subs with help from these. My favorite cartoon of all time and I have been a fan of the doc for 5 years. Sid your the best horror guy on youtube with great reviews of the best talking dog of all time.
Idk what my top 5 villains for where are you would be but I know Captain Cutler would be in it, mostly due to the growling sounds. Scared the hell out of me as a kid
The echoey sound and moans that come from the diver ghost always scared my little kid self dead

I watched the show a ton as a kid and I feel like for whatever reason this episode came up a lot. Like I just remember seeing this one a lot more than the other episodes, but I've always been a big fan of nautical themes and loved the old timey diver suit so I didn't really mind. It was a pretty solid mystery.
The main problem is that, even with seaweed on, real Cpt. Cutler still looks absolutely nothing like Cpt. Cutler seen in the photo in his house. Not even barely resembling.

This was actually the first scooby doo episode I ever watched. I have a strong soft spot for Captain Cutlers ghost.

@@eddihurta7173 I have no problem with the episode, or any eps of the 1st 2 seasons 🙂. The show was innocent and really showed a ton of appreciation for other cultures, just in a 1979/1970way. Now, Scrappy Doo? HE's a problem! I have a dog in *that* fight, lol

Scooby's laugh was weird in this episode.
No one gets taken into custody just for questioning. That would be completely voluntary. I hate the propaganda all those murder shows put out. People think they have to do voluntary things like that are field sobriety tests.

I hate to say it, but...this was a really forgettable episode. I mean, it was fine. As Cyd mentioned in the video, the villains designs weren't that creative at the start, but they do improve in later episodes. Not only that, but it just seems like a real slow episode. I don't know. But compared to later episodes, you can tell. Not a bad episode, it's...just alright.
