- I created a little generator for coming up with (mostly terrible, but occasionally interesting) game ideas. I then tried making a little game based on a generated prompt about ghosts and beekeeping.

I noticed that your page takes a considerable time to parse your data, that is because you load it as a js file.
If you want to speed this up convert it to a JSON file and parse that. ( JSON.parse(DATA) )
The reason being is that the JSON parser knows it is just data and doesn't have try to translate it into save JavaScript.
I am really waiting for somebody making a android game kinda similar to left 4 dead 2
With a similar functioning gore system (that the most important thing)
There are hundreds of thousands of gamers. Graving a game for Android like that... Cause there exists nothing even slightly similar like it... If you would make it in retro graphics it wouldn't be so hard to program.. Especially the gore system would be much easier to built..
And if you sell it for 2 to 3 bucks I thing it would be really amazing for you...
Or make it free to play.... With ads and some upgrades for real money...

It reminds me of an episode of the Simpsons. Homer telling the aliens he has and family and they should eat them instead of him!
Female spiders (black widows, at least) kill the male spiders after laying their eggs

Those spider legs are disturbingly brilliant 👍
Has a robotics vibe to it. If you pick the ideal position of the leg based on the terrain (i.e., not too much slope, good position for stability) then you have a pretty intelligent walking model.
It's like adding inverse kinematics, or procedural animation for that matter, onto a model in Unity's editor. Just, wow.
They may seem so robotic bc spiders have 48 joints in their legs instead of 2. I do like the robotic look some, maybe if the legs moved on the y axis as well
@@Andyonrice What if you made a model that did have 48 joints, and then made a detailed spider, and like the joints would have a resting position but also if they touch a part that is moving they will move as well.

The part that doesn't make sense is why would a skeleton gardener want spider souls? In a game about making the best pizza why have this violent side quest?

@@SebastianLague could it also used in more complex walk cycles too? Like the leg has to make a certain movement before it goes back to the ceratin position. There are certainly a lot of interesting things you could do with this.

The amount of impressive programming systems used for just this "small" game is INSANE!
that's why many people are motivated at the start and give up at some points ;)
You still have the option to go for easier systems, which may, or may not, look just as good
It really just goes to show how helpful working on smaller projects is at first, lets you recycle solutions to problems you found from one thing to another, improving final products.

I think it's great too. One problem with it though if I had to nitpick is that the legs seem to be dragging behind the body, rather than pushing the body forward.

its easier in the code tbh bc and it doesn't just run an animation no matter where in the terrain it is which is the cause of most visual bugs in games.
@@Elliot.2591 Then again I could see this code have issues if not all edge cases (like large gaps and sharp corners) are accounted for properly which might not be easy to do
Jonas Schäfer just add to the X, and move it up to the surface for the end position, then make a simple positive quadratic arch for the movement coords list.

It's not just that.
The reason I'm not working on my project "Expanse", is because I've done the maths and it would take like quadrillions of sprites if I was to do it with a sprite-based system. It would still be a shit-ton of models if I was to do it in 3D, which would be more difficult. So, here, it's just as you say, I have no idea how I'm supposed to implement all that. It would have to be a modular system, kind of like putting in a whole lot of adjectives in Scribblenauts (in case you're familiar with that).
Beyond that, though, there's time, motivation, etc. I had started a project in GMS2, but now they added a limit to the trial version and basically went "Hey, we see you're enjoying our product. F*ck off."
@@Marhathor Use Unity or Unreal. They both let you use the service for free until you start making money off the game, and even then, you just pay them a certain cut of the profit.
I've used Unreal. Performance seemed an issue and it's not great for 2D (???), but yeah, I'd probably use that if I ever get to it.

In a book of cooking, you have to destroy junk food with some nice towers who kill with "food love" and who eat words like inside scrabble to win energy: you make a words from some letters to make new ingredient or tool who permit to cook a nice food and done some energy to your tower. You have a clock of time to do it before your tower don't have energy and/or your ennemy come to you and say: "eat me i'm very good for you" 😂. You can choose to upgrade one tower or make another or make energy for the tower when you use a word. If you make the food, you learn the recipe, destroy the junk food with an epic cinematic and win a new tower against the next junk food :).what do you think about it ? 😀

The stippling does somehow manage to make clipping through objects seem more ghostly, and the flowers and spiders are lovely.

Speed running where your character can slow down time occasionally.
@@jnevercast That actually sounds pretty awesome. Let's say you have a game were you can always slow down time at will. Slowing down makes the game easier, but you also lose time. So if you want to speedrun it, you have to slow down as little as possible, which in turn makes the game as hard as you can handle.
