Hi Erica. I learnt from another you tube video that it is best to establish your base wick first, meaning to do an initial wick testing without fragrance so that with time during production or further testing, you can easily pick when the fragrance is the problem. Remember that different FOs have different properties and may affect the candle burn differently
👍 Wade Thomas from Black Tie Barn suggests doing this and it does make testing easier.
Dang you’re totally right! I think Kevin from Armatage candle company also recommends this as well!
Thank you for sharing, can’t wait for part 2 !
Excited 😆. The vendor you listed is in Detroit. Only 3 hours away. Maybe shipping won’t be too bad. I just don’t see a wick chart
Thank you so much for posting these videos. You have inspired me so much, you won’t understand lol.
Hi, Erica. At some point can you please do a video showing how you clean out your tester jars for reuse? Thanks 😊
Great idea!
Second that and how to clean your tools 🥺 I feel so wasteful every time I clean mine with wipes 🥺
Hi regarding reusing the jars - I have been told not to reuse jars that been filled with wax and burned once already especially not if you want to sell them. The glass can shatter easily apparently. Anyone heard same thing?
@Kat Von Ober I've always heard the same, so I only reuse for testing, which is actually what she's using them for.
I love to use the coco soy wax I use this wax and it is great for me and I love the throw on both hot and cold after 4 weeks cure.
Hi Erica, Great video! Could you do another video explaining how to use the correct wick size with different types of jars and the measurments. thanks
Great advice to buy 1 16oz frag oil instead of going crazy. It's smarter to start out that way and very pocket friendly bc candlemaking is not a cheap hobby or business venture.
I have 11 pounds of this wax as well as coco apricot Creme that I’ve had just sitting in my apartment forever because I got them wanting to test them and still haven’t! 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️😂😂 Hopefully soon! 😂😂😂😂 Can’t wait to hear how the CT and HT are!!
Sounds like me😁🤦🏽♀️
I'm so excited to watch this video you give such positive energy!
Candles and wicking scares the crap outta me so ty for showing everything.
Thanks for sharing! I am interested on the detached items. 💕
I'm excited for you! Cannot wait to get to that point, myself.. I literally just formed my LLC about one hour ago and am just beginning (444 soy wax only for now).
I had been using regular wax and it gave me sore throat, so wondering to switch to soy or coconut wax
isopropyl alcohol evaporates in matter of minutes it’s not going to affect the candle! hatters gonna hate :(
This was very insightful. Love to learn about differenct waxes.
Hi Erica! Great video! Do you know when you’ll be filming the burn test? I’m so excited to see the results 🙂
Ahh I’m sorry! This month is SO busy! I have part of it filmed but I just need to edit it so hopefully I can get it up in the next week! 🤍
@@MemoryBoxCandleCo no, don't be sorry! I love your videos and am just excited to see the results :) have a great day!
I love your videos! You’re so awesome! Small request… could you link your part 2 videos to the first ones. I would love to see results to this one but don’t know how to find it. ❤
I love this wax. I'm a master with this wax. I like CDN however, there is one that is amazing amazing when burning. CDN gets the wax hot and doesn't throw too well. I can name you 2 I use for this wax that will perform 💯. It took me a year to get the formula.
Hi Edgar, would you mind to share the wicks you’re using with this wax, I doing some testing right now, but any seems right. I have a 3 and a 4 diameter jars with a 8% FO at 190f. Thank you!
Hi Edgar. Would you be so kind and share with us the kind of wax that works with this wax? Just starting out and been testing different waxes and wix since December and have not yet decided on launching anything yet.
@@paulinaagudelo6243 I actually use Eco wicks if it's a soy blend or you can also use believe it or not LCS but wick down or HPSP but wick up. I think 9% Is fair enough for a stronger throw. I mix at about 195 and pour at like 180.
@@jenniborja2883 Well it depends on your brand luxury you want to go with more natural waxes such as apricot coconut wax, Virgin Coconut wax, Soy bliss wax, or Coconut beeswax. Non luxury you can do igi 6006, soy 464, pro blend. That would be my suggestion. Wicks all vary on wax you choose. You also want to focus on oils if you want luxury go high end don't do the cheaper kind. If you go budget friend line than go with the more affordable one. That's my suggestion and previous experience.
@@edgargarciahernandez2476 thank you so much, I will give them a try 😊
It always important to text different waxes. Good job 👍
Hey Erica. Great video as always. I’m curious what % of beeswax you add to your soy10?
Hi... Thanks for sharing your process and results. It's helpful to someone like me when considering another wax. I'm a new candlemaker and I'm still in the experimenting phase to find the best wax for me... Also, thank you for the resources. Did you include where you purchased those vessels? If not, could you share? Thanks
What is the significance of adding beeswax to any wax? I guess thought process on that if that makes sense lol
Nice candles so you add the fragrance at 190
I would love the discount items you have.
Hi Erika this is off topic, when you’d make your Tin jars with soy and tart wax blended, did you ever do it 50/50? Is it safe to do that?
Snap! Actually doing this myself today!
What do you like about coconut soy vs just soy waxes. I’m interested in venturing out and trying new waxes. Also, are CDN wicks the same as CD? Thank you.
Great video, thank you so much for the content! For someone just starting out with testing what would you recommend for an amount of wax to get some thorough testing done...? 1lb? 5lb? More?
I'd definitely be interested on what u have to get rid of. I'm just getting ready to start candle making to start a business. Waiting for taxes so I can order all my stuff... need as much help with the whole process as possible. Not that good at math and so I need help with how to calculate everything 🙃
Great idea doin this , i think you should do this with cocosoy aura vessels n wood wicks 🙏
Def interested in what you might have available that use don’t use anymore….great idea
Hi Erica. Congratulations on your nuptials 🙏🏽💕🎂🎁🎉. What is the wax and suppliers that you use for tart melts?
Yes that would be great destash on your website
Hi Erica. Great information once again. I'd be interested in a destash.
A de stash link would be great!
Vert nice and I would just like to know where to get the wick placement gadget. Forgive me if you mentioned that in the past. I like the half jar way of testing. thanks
Hey Erica, what do you use for the wicks what is the name of the tool, very handy!
love it
Hey Erica! About how long after creating a candle is it good to perform a wick test?
Yes please destash!!!!
Can you tell me exactly why you use bee wax? I am new, I started using coco83 and I added beeswax because they said you would need to ship because of melting. But the coco83 I did with no beeswax poured so much better. I have not done wick test yet, they are curing.
I literally watch all your video's :) You are so detailed!!!
I looooove coconut wax 83 OMG
I’m reopening in March I’m moving to the west coast
Where did you order your jars from
What is good wick use eco in 180g jar and how many wick in 180g jar ? And wick use eco in 200g jar ?
Hi Erica, what was your pour temp?
Hi yes I would be interested in purchasing any items you are not using
On 16/17 they recommend either CD or CDN wicks. What I find with CD wicks though is that they burn so hot though :/.
Hi there, I'm testing different wicks but can only find CD wicks. What wicks do you use? Single or double wick? What is the diameter of your vessel?
Hi Erica! Why did the melting pitcher get all black on the bottom in the double boiler?
Hi! So that’s just wait happens during double boiling! I’ve actually had someone tell me you can add vinegar to the water in order to prevent that, but I’ve never tried it
Have you announced what time the candle boxes release
This Friday! I’m thinking I’ll release it around noon pst!
I would love to know if you have some FO to sell or anything..please let me know..
Royalty Candles By Julz:)
i personally love virgin coco soy!
Me too!!!
Do u have a fav brand? There’s so many choices, too many
What size are your jars?
They are 13.5 oz jars
i see you struggling with the pitcher! you should get a pancake dispenser from amazon! it saves so much time pouring
She has one. This is a small batch.
I wanna try soy 10 but it’s always sold out 😩
I believe Hive & Honey (her supplier for the coconut soy) has it in stock.
@@nemomenth thanks
I'm so very interested
Please Post when your ready
My ring Bell is all ways on😊💜
Thank you ❤️
Just put the items you want rid of up on your website and Etsy, people will buy them quickly
Hi Erica. Love watching your videos and i am learning soooo much. i did have one question for you. When doing my testing i noticed that my candles are cracking at the top and arent coming out smooth like i wanted. I used American Soy Organics- from Freedom Soy Wax Beads that i bought on Amazon but not sure if its the wax. I looked up online what could be the reason and i checked all of what i could find and tried it but they still keep cracking up and not really as smooth as i want them to be. Would you be able to tell me if you had those issues as well with cracking and also idk if you get a lot of this question but if you could make a video about it if its a topic worthy of it of course but any pointers and advise would be very much appreciated by you or anyone else that has had issues with that. Thank you and always love watching your informative videos ❤
There’s a video that advised pouring slower if you are getting cracks., they also advised using the heat gun to smooth the top.
