I am new at candle making and looking forward to learning all I can. I love the look of the double wick. Can I double wick a 3" candle?

Hi Theresia! So my normal vessels are about 3.25 inches and I double wick them! I would say yes but it also depends on the wick series you use. I was using Eco wicks for the longest time and the smallest was eco 1 and to be honest 2 of those burned a little hot in my 3.25in vessels. Now that I've switched to HTP wicks though I use an HTP 83 and that works pretty well and there's several smaller sizes below that that I can wick down to. I would just recommend you start with a fairly low number with whatever wick series your using and go from there! :)

Another candle maker to watch! Exciting! I didn’t catch the oz’s of your vessel, is that an 8 oz or 12 oz?

Dear Nick, thanks again for another OUTSTANDING video presentation! You have no idea how important you have become to the beginners' candle making community!!! I am in a PANIC, however, about something that I hope you can advise me on. I love using wooden wicks for my candles. and I look forward to selling them. Today, though, I watched a video of an Australian candle maker who stressed that when pouring the wax into the container, the top of the wooden wick must be drizzled a bit with the wax. I started to worry because I have made several candles without getting wax on the exposed portion of the wooden wicks. Should I leave those candles alone, OR should I melt some wax, and, maybe, brush some wax on the wooden wicks' tops. At this moment, the wooden wicks are set in the candles, but without the additional wax treatment. I just wonder if my candles will burn better by pouring wax over the top of the wooden wick as I fill the container. Your advice will be deeply appreciated, as I really am concerned. Further, KEEP UP YOUR GREAT VIDEO WORK!!!

Hi! Thanks so much for the kind words! so glad I can help in some way!
So- wooden wicks. To be honest I have BARELY worked with them, I did like one candle back when I first started and then for whatever reason just haven't really tried them since (but it is something I've thought about testing out!) I have heard that people like to pour some of the wax over the top of the wood wick but I don't know for certain if it's absolutely necessary.
I would maybe reach out to your supplier and see what they say about it. Furthermore I would maybe burn test one to see and then maybe do another where you do pour the wax overtop and see if one burns better or you get better results. Sorry I wish I could be more help with this one! Like I said I just haven't worked with them a whole bunch! 😅
