Man I love Indian Point! Good memories. Camp up there atop the bluffs. Ya can't miss the site. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. I can't pick favorite overlooks here, the whole area is awesome. One of my favorite places in the world.
Yeah it is a very unique place that just keeps getting better each step you take :)
Thanks for Sharing Shawn!
Hi Shawn . I was camping on the bluff about three weeks ago and a vulture spent two minutes just thirty feet from my chair . I must have looked " dead tired " after my hike but kept moving a little so Mr. Vulture would know I was still alive ! LOL . Certainly one of my favorite spots for hiking and camping . Great bluffage , too ! Be careful with ticks in the area . Thanks for the video .
Yes! Ticks are always usually the worst over there but with some effort, you can overcome them. I'd have loved to see a vulture out there but that might be a little creepy lol
Hey Shawn. Nice! The views are amazing! Can only imagine how much more thrilling it would be in person! Be safe out there!
Just try to get here one day :D There is plenty of Shawnee to go around for everyone!
Oh, yeah, Indian Point is freakin' great! Especially for an overnight watching the sunset. It was particularly warm when I went (in the 90's...) back in August. The Observation Trail was packed the day I got there, but the following morning, I was almost by myself (went over early). When the Fall foliage sets in would be a great time to go! Good hike!
It is a great place to overnight whether you are a seasoned backpacker or a beginner :) I love to visit that area, every chance I get!
How cool it would be to wake up to that every morning and go to sleep looking out over it at night. You are a lot closer than me to that spot. But agree it is breath taking. Sunset I bet is gorgeous from there.
Yes, I have plenty of spots where a cabin home would be perfect :D
Nice trail indeed... Very scenic!
Oh yeah, that whole area is great!
Beautiful view and bluffage!
Heck yeah, over looks and bluffage - can't go wrong with that! :)
We were there two years ago. We did the tourist portion but there is so much more we need to do there next time!
The wilderness areas are awesome. I filmed a video of that which will post next week or so. Lots of scenic overlooks will very few people.
Thanks for sharing this great view
Thank you for watching it :)
Hey Shawn, we just did some trail maintenance with the FS Yesterday in the rain and it should be even nicer looking. I went with the "Loppers" group and we cut off some of the limbs and blackberry and poison ivy encroaching the trail in places. We had a great view of fog for awhile but it faded away while we were there. The other groups cleaned up the trail and the bluff bottom, We only saw 2 cans on top. They found a lot more on the lower end.
Thank you for volunteering your time to help clean up the forest. :) Folks like you are folks I really appreciate!
Love Garden of the Gods, great views! Awesome video
It is really a great area to visit :)
Heading that way once the leaves start to change.
That is probably one of the best times to visit :D
What breath taking footage those rocks are awesome!!!! I think when you were on the top looking out over at all the beauty was my favorite ❤😀 hope your mother is doing well thanks for the video great job.
Yeah she is doing great. She has been getting into cycling a lot here lately. I think me and her are going to do more longer rides as it cools down :)
That will be nice :) I love watching yall do things together she is so cool :)
It would be cool to bushwack the bluff line on Indian Point in the winter. I wonder what the high peak behind camel rock is. That would be cool to explore also.
I think I see another Shawn/Bob/Bob video coming to a RUclips this winter :D
Another awesome video. I necer saw any of this when I was in Illinois
This is all in the very southern portion of the state :D The ocean was all over here before it receded into the Gulf.
Great bideo as always!
Thank you :)
Hello friends. Again we had a good time. Thank you for the pleasant minutes. Respect from friends from Germany.
Come'on back now u hear?
Amazing bluffage! I'm surprised the place isn't crawling with rock climbers.
That is an area that doesn't allow climbing. But there are areas nearby that do.
Shawn, have you yet done the stretch of trails between the Anvil Rock trail (near GotG) and the town of Herod? It's lovely!
I've yet to hike that section! I'm waiting for fall to really kick in before I start section hiking R2R because I just want to see everything haha
I wish we had a variety of trails down here, we basically have 1 trail! other than that u just gotta make your own trail to find new places
Sometimes going off trail end with seeing the best things, though! :)
Looking forward to camping trip there in October or November.
Should be getting ready for some good camping weather once the wet stuff is out of here. Nice cool nights when a campfire is worth building :D
