*The product **do7.pl/DStabilizer2** and the accessories are very quality. The only issue is the micro USB cable which comes with the product is not compatible with Canon M50. You need to buy L shape converter. Except this all ok.*
thanks for the video. is start/top working on you 1DC then? I have a 1dxii but from the recent info on their compatibility list it implied that this is not supported or is unreliable for the 1 series bodies?
Hi - I have question about transporting, carrying the Ronin-S in a day of travel. How do you transport it from one location to another? Like when you are getting lost in a city, I don’t want to assemble it again all the time but take it with me during the day like i do it with a gorillapod. So I am wondering that when do you assemble it or do you just leave the camera on it, turn the gimbal off and just carry it? If so, is it safe? thx, p
Once you take it places, where do you keep it when you're not using. How do you keep your gear safe. Let's say you're at a networking event but need a break to chat with people. Where do most people store their gear? What kind of bag can I just dump the gimbal in or could it break?
So you don't recommend buying it now if I'm using a Canon? or the new features like the focus wheel will come out as accessories that I can buy later, and not built-in features? hope you got my point lol.. thanks for the video!
where do you order them? did they have a limited stock on the announcement date or am i just tripping because the dji website hasnt had them in stock and b&h photo is only available for preorder? any ideas lol or am i just dumb
I would be really interested to see more of how it's mounted. I have an early version of the SmallHD focus and the mounting bracket doesn't seem to match up via bolt/screw patterns to the DJI Ronin-S. Can you elaborate please?
Hello, I would like to know if it is possible to charge the battery of the Ronin S with an external USB battery at the same this that I use the ronin S ?
I just got one and am trying to figure it out. You mentioned in the video that you could get the Record Stop/Start to work with a Canon. How is that? I have a 6D MK II I've put on it, but there isn't a cable that came with the system that works in any port on that camera. So...how is it controlled? Would the correct cable (and software update from DJI) then allow the focus wheel to work?
No i mean; i have an external microfone (rhode videomic go) and that has a wire that goes into the right of my lumix camera. But when i have the wire in the mic and camera, does the Ronin still have enough space to move around (not touching the camera or the wire of the mic)?
your focus wheel seems so loose and free, mine is so stubborn and tight. Did you do something to loosen it? Please tell us if you have, that would be great :)
Ya totally! This gimbal is a bit big for that camera, but its the best handheld gimbal available so it's worth it to carry around this bigger system for that camera.
I've waited for this for a while but with Instagram's announcement yesterday I'm curious as to whether you can use this to capture natively vertical video, cropping and moving doesn't work for everyone's workflow
Just crop in post. Intagram inly displays 481x599.484 pixels for vertical video. It’s still going to be tagged as horizontal so you will still have to edit the image to rotate it either way.
Hi! You're shooting near water... The ocean and etc. Is it possible that Ronin-S can widthstand some water splashes or absolute "no-no"? It's only one top thing that I want to know.
Amazing Review, Quick Question.. Is there going to be an object tracking like there is in the crane 2 app? is Active tracking means object tracking? and may i know the monitor&mount details..Thanks
legendp2011 Those micro jitters you saw were probably from when I shot. It was literally my first time using a gimbal. Don’t let that sway your opinion of it just yet.
+Connor McCaskill .......fair enough.......... but it's not just your video with jitters, most videos I see of the ronin (and other cheaper gimbals like zhuiyn) have micro-jiters, perhaps it's just the fact that most reviews are made before the operators become accustomed to using them (or they walk to fast with them?).............however the majority of MOVI videos I have seen don't have jitter issue (glidecam/steadicam also are jitter free most the time), but that could also be that movi operators are just more experienced. then again if most people watching don't notice the jitters perhaps it doesn't matter (I can be nit picky, and am still curious about single hand use gimbals, the official dji video looks good, but they always maintain a slow walk speed)
You are correct, this video is a horrible way to judge the Ronin-S. Every one of their shots had jitters but this is likely due to improper balance as the motors are clearly working too hard. So that, and cam op inexperience with proper walking/moving technique is really hurting this video.
Oh ok! Well for cost, the smaller cheaper gimbals will do the trick. But the Ronin-S seems to have better stabilization and will give you an opportunity to grow with your gimbal when you get a new camera.
Dope content guys! One question: where do you get these nice-thin-flexible cables? I need and HDMI-microHDMI to plug the Atomos Ninja V to an A7iii, and the current coiled cable I have is making the Feiyutech a1000 suffer. I have a Ronin-S coming soon, but still... please somebody help me! And oh, needs to support 4k for sure (HDMI 2.0 would be nice). And if I search for "ribbon HDMI" or "FPV HDMI" cables in amazon (.co.uk, .de) none of them mentioned specs (1.4, 2.0, etc), or whether they'd support 4k.
In all reviews I have seen to this point, the footage looks jittery. How come? Don't tell me it's a pre production model. I hope they fix it until release.
Bicep curls supersetted with static plate holds. Bottoms-up kettlebell waiter's carry (front position) Chest supported rows TRX/Ab wheel rollout There's your gimbal handling training program. Have you tried the M50 on it by chance? I got caught in the second batch of preorders that are supposed to come in next week. I sold my Crane 2 for it simply because it has the physical buttons to change settings. Incredibly useful for sports since you don't have to dive into an app or click through settings to change speed on the fly.
Hi,there. I’m new to gimbals and after watching your video I have found out that the Ronin S would be suitable for me .My question is there are lots of different gimbals on the market what makes you so sure this is the best one. What camera is compatible with is gimbal. Thx4sharing and I will surely subscribe your channel.
Bluetooth isn’t working how do you fix that???!!! Lost all my settings trying to update it via assistant app and it keeps on saying “update failed Bluetooth not connected”
Wow, thank you for this first real look at the Ronin S! This gimbal looks like it may take the market for full size DSLR / Mirror-less Cameras. One can carry and nice size payload and this is why I think it will soon be most everyone's choice in the category! Thank You!
Hey Dave, Thanks for making this video. I heard you mention a bit of fatigue with this product. I believe there is a company that makes an adapter for the Ronin to be used on a steadycam vest. Would that be possible with the Ronin S? I would like to know your thoughts on this. Thanks. - Paul
Thanks. I was thinking since it has a 1/4" female thread at the bottom (where the mini tripod attaches), someone could make a 1/4" male to a measured diameter to fit in the arm pole of the vest. It would be neat if a company made this, but honestly I think I could just go to my local machine shop and they could make an adapter.
Awesome video Dave! Anyway do you think this’ll work with the bmpcc 4K...I’m still using my gh5s and sigma 18-35 right now but it’d be awesome if the bmpcc that I have on pre order would fit also
I dont mean to be so offtopic but does anybody know a trick to get back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly lost the login password. I love any tips you can offer me
@Callen Darian i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and Im trying it out atm. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Great Review! My Ronin-S is on its way and I came across the Glide Gear DNA-6000 which seems to support the Ronin-S and its only $399. Not too shabby and I wonder if that's going to make the difference for camera ops who do a ton of run and gun.
What about for travel videographers? I understand that this is the best single handed gimbal for professional work but would you recommend it for hobbyists who just want to travel the world and film or is it way too big/heavy?
I'll be using it with a Sony A7 III and maybe the kit lens. If you were on vacation and wanted to make an video purely for yourself will you feel comfortable taking this gimbal out pretty much all day? Of course the Ronin S is probably the best out of all the other gimbals out there for planned shoots but if it is too bulky and heavy then it won't be much use to me. Thanks for replying
it depends on your gear. If you have a small mirrorless camera get the v2 and save the money for other things. If you have the gh5 that can actually use these features def get the ronin. If you have the crane 2 (not the v2) and not using gh5 you might not notice a lot of difference from what you can currently do.
You guys really should try to explain why (in the video) things look bad or don't use the footage. Show proper footage with it balanced right and a GOOD operator otherwise you really need to tell people IN THE VIDEO (NOT THE COMMENTS) that this is someone's first time. And yet, I've seen people pick this is for the first time and get butter smooth shots so I think your main issue is improper balance.
Thank you for the detailed explanation. I wanted to know more about the POWER OUT and no one seemed to mention it until I watched your video. This will be great for us Sony A6500 users filming in 4k!
Would be cool if they made a handle that would bypass the small joystick and make it possible to carry it like a "suitcase" to ease the fatigue you get when carrying this gimbal. Just got mine and went out for a 2 hour walk with a Canon 80D and a 18-135 lense on it. Not that big of a payload BUT definitely noticeable after a while which leaves you to constantly shifting hands in order not to tire down. a modular "suitcase" handle would easily fix this which would allow to fit brackets of any type for accessories. Take a look at the Crane Lab 3 i think it's called which currently is in a prototype state but it is heading the right way. One thing i'd really want them to fix is when it goes absolutely crazy when you accidently put the Ronin-s in a weird angle. Experienced this the first day of use (Recently at New Years Eve) and could easily be fixed with an update to the firmware.
The older style gimbal is only good if you want to capture video of someones waist. That's my number 1 complaint about using that style, you have to lift it so high just to get it to eye level. So for larger crews or smaller crews the ronin s is going to be better 99% of the time.
Toy unboxing channels of course! What kind of question is that? You use a gimbal when you want smooth/cinematic shots, doesn't matter what type of YT channel.
*The product **do7.pl/DStabilizer2** and the accessories are very quality. The only issue is the micro USB cable which comes with the product is not compatible with Canon M50. You need to buy L shape converter. Except this all ok.*
Bought Ronin-s yesterday. Will practice now with the help of your instructions. Nice presentation and thanks for sharing valuable knowledge.
What display do you use with Ronin S?
thanks for the video. is start/top working on you 1DC then? I have a 1dxii but from the recent info on their compatibility list it implied that this is not supported or is unreliable for the 1 series bodies?
Hi - I have question about transporting, carrying the Ronin-S in a day of travel.

hello, I think you can try this dual handle grip: amzla.com/us3h30quxlpv
Just got mine about 3 days ago. I haven’t been able to sleep because I’m so hyped.
Once you take it places, where do you keep it when you're not using. How do you keep your gear safe. Let's say you're at a networking event but need a break to chat with people. Where do most people store their gear? What kind of bag can I just dump the gimbal in or could it break?
which monitor cable are you using..?
Hi, I've just ordered one and wanted to know can I attach an iphone to the Ronin-S to use as a monitor ?
Did you do an update for Canon 5D mk iv for the newer accessories?
are you considering a vest + arm combo for all day use?
jitters when following a subject when panning 4:43 , is it because it was not calibrated
Just inexperience. Check out our full review for better example shots. ruclips.net/video/V_dNH0hc0uI/видео.html
and does the cord get in the way of you try to 360 it?
Been meaning to but busy with other work. No it doesn’t have 360degree
So you don't recommend buying it now if I'm using a Canon? or the new features like the focus wheel will come out as accessories that I can buy later, and not built-in features?
hope you got my point lol.. thanks for the video!
You can still use it with a canon but you just won’t have any controls other than record start stop. Buttttttt in the future this will change.
I tried it on my Canon 5D mark IV and it works
So they must have changed it yay
Thank you for your review which
screen monitor do you use? or which one you suggest? thank you
We use the SmallHD Focus monitor and love it!
Do you have a monitor attached to the side? How did you do it? I'm trying to figure out if its possible to mount the inferno to the side
hi, maybe you can try this one: amzla.com/us3h30quxlpv and monitor holder mount: amzla.com/uve68iauds8h
where do you order them? did they have a limited stock on the announcement date or am i just tripping because the dji website hasnt had them in stock and b&h photo is only available for preorder? any ideas lol or am i just dumb
nice, what accessories did you use to mount the monitor?
Just the standard SmallHD Focus monitor mount
I would be really interested to see more of how it's mounted. I have an early version of the SmallHD focus and the mounting bracket doesn't seem to match up via bolt/screw patterns to the DJI Ronin-S. Can you elaborate please?
i think you can try this one, it is very nice amzla.com/t4yimzamoit3
What wide angle lens are you using here on your Canon ? I am looking for a light weight one, 15 or 17 mm. Thanks !
Hello, I would like to know if it is possible to charge the battery of the Ronin S with an external USB battery at the same this that I use the ronin S ?
Im not sure if you can at the same time, but you can use one to charge it using USB-C for sure .
Is it possible that you try to using to Ronin S at the same time that you charge it ?
Have they incorporated the focus feature with canon
How did you put the monitor on it ?
Have they added the focus for Canon and Sony?
Hey K, I have the 1dc too, wondering what settings you used for your slow mo on the 1dc and do you have a link for your monitor? Thanks
Hey, can you please name the accessory used to mount smallhd focus so effortlessly?
I just got one and am trying to figure it out. You mentioned in the video that you could get the Record Stop/Start to work with a Canon. How is that? I have a 6D MK II I've put on it, but there isn't a cable that came with the system that works in any port on that camera. So...how is it controlled? Would the correct cable (and software update from DJI) then allow the focus wheel to work?
The wire goes into the right of my camera. But will the Ronin s still work? Enough space between the right of the cam and the Ronin
Oh bummer! Ya you may be able to balance it using the roll motor balancer!
No i mean; i have an external microfone (rhode videomic go) and that has a wire that goes into the right of my lumix camera. But when i have the wire in the mic and camera, does the Ronin still have enough space to move around (not touching the camera or the wire of the mic)?
What do you recommend betwin ronin-s or zhiyun crane plus??
Ronin-s for sure!
I preordered on the day it came out and still didn’t get the first shipment 😩
Be patient. You’ll get it soon!
un día !
Same. I ordered mine within 4 min I got the email notification from dji still shipping is pending. Think this gimbal is going to be a game changer
You mentioned you were running your audio through your Iphone. Have you ever posted a video about that? How does that work?
Where did you get that HDMI Cable for your monitor?
your focus wheel seems so loose and free, mine is so stubborn and tight. Did you do something to loosen it? Please tell us if you have, that would be great :)
Can I use my Sony Rx100 iv with this? I don’t want to carry a separate gimbal for the RX100.
Ya totally! This gimbal is a bit big for that camera, but its the best handheld gimbal available so it's worth it to carry around this bigger system for that camera.
Can you suggest me the cable used to connect Nikon D750 with Ronin S.
What is the monitor attached to the ronin?
I've waited for this for a while but with Instagram's announcement yesterday I'm curious as to whether you can use this to capture natively vertical video, cropping and moving doesn't work for everyone's workflow
Lol i know right! We will be doing a video about this. There is a hack with moving the roll axis I believe.
Nice I've been wondering this myself. Other solution would seem to be an L bracket? Will be on the lookout for your video!
Just crop in post. Intagram inly displays 481x599.484 pixels for vertical video. It’s still going to be tagged as horizontal so you will still have to edit the image to rotate it either way.
do 2 led's turn into 3 and so on as charging progresses?
haha just turned into 3
No object tracking that I know of no..
What monitor do you use? Looks compact and great with the whole setup!
Should i pull th einbody stabilisation of my gh 5 on or off for gimbal work with the ronin s?
What about the minimum weight? Will it work with a 500 Gramm camera?
noticed micro jitters in the footage, it's a nice gimbal. but I think I'll stick with the glidecam for now
legendp2011 Those micro jitters you saw were probably from when I shot.

The focus control works with the a7s and the Rokinon 35mm AF?
Can you control focus with the Panasonic g7?
Unfortunately no....just the GH5 series
Dave Altizer oh OK thanks for your help
Pre ordered and waiting. Patiently. It’s getting harder by the day to wait with all the videos I’m watching everyday.
That’s awesome!
What's the audio setup you're using?
Literally a rode smart lav in my iPhone!
Yeah figured it out, by following the "all gear" link in the descript. Thanks for the quick reply.
So is the manual focus ring working with this Canon 1dc or not? I have the same camera and thinking about buying ronin s.
Well not yet. I believe it will work eventually with a firmware update but don’t quote me on that
so are you going to do a tutorial on how you got the monitor on the ronin s? you have the features but can't help us on how you got it on there.
Another great video... thanks! Is the m50 heavy enough to fly on the ronin S?
Yes! We’ve done it and it works great! Why do you ask?
I asked because I’m debating between the DJI Ronin S or the Zhiyun crane plus... weighing the pros and cons of each for flying the m50.
Does it work with the dvx200
Im not sure. That camera may be a bit too long for it.
In all reviews I have seen to this point, the footage looks jittery. How come? Don't tell me it's a pre production model. I hope they fix it until release.
The typography in the Ronin-S instruction manual is too small.
Really good review man. I have a Canon 80D, Can the Ronin S follow me if I mounted it on a tripod and walked back an forth? Does it have that feature?
Mine is coming soon! How do you connect the tilt arm of the Smallhd Focus to the gimbal?
I took the hot shoe thing off and just screwed it into the same spot the focus nob is on
Hey did you guy add more grain or the footage was just noisy? It's mid day, it shouldn't be that noisy!
Lol ya. Filmconvert
Hey Dave! How did you mount your monitor? i am hoping for my atomos ninja inferno to fit on it!
I just used the little screw that came with the Ronin-S focus wheel. Idk. Try to experiment with it!
Great video, thanks for the info. What did you use to attach your SmallHD to the Ronin-S? Do you have a link to the product by chance? Thanks!
Thank you for this quick video. Needed to know a few things and this video was much better than what I found. Keep doing your thing man!
Wow great! We will be doing a longer form review after we have had it for some time, but I'm really glad this video did so good for you.
Hi, what is the actual weight of the ronin-S compare to the zhiyun crane?
The Ronin S is one lb heavier I believe! Why do you ask?
Kinotika because I own a zhiyun crane 2 but thinking if the dji ronin s will be too heavy for my liking
Bicep curls supersetted with static plate holds.
Bottoms-up kettlebell waiter's carry (front position)
Chest supported rows
TRX/Ab wheel rollout
There's your gimbal handling training program.
Can the Ronin-S control the camera (GH5, A7iii, 1DXii) exposure settings?
Not that I’m aware of unfortunately.
Hi,there.
I’m new to gimbals and after watching your video I have found out that the Ronin S would be suitable for me .My question is there are lots of different gimbals on the market what makes you so sure this is the best one.
What camera is compatible with is gimbal.
Thx4sharing and I will surely subscribe your channel.
Most gimbals struggle with the software and firmware. DJI and Freefly are really the only companies with good software.
And the cams compatible are.
How do you like the 1DC?
I loved it! Sold it since this video.... I miss it daily :)
Yas
Bluetooth isn’t working how do you fix that???!!! Lost all my settings trying to update it via assistant app and it keeps on saying “update failed Bluetooth not connected”
hey you said that the batteries can be taking out and switched how ??
Not worth feature to buy extra $100 battery., which can swapped. Worst thing is that we can not charge that extra battery without using it to Ronin S.
what name of the monitor adapter?
Wow, thank you for this first real look at the Ronin S! This gimbal looks like it may take the market for full size DSLR / Mirror-less Cameras. One can carry and nice size payload and this is why I think it will soon be most everyone's choice in the category! Thank You!
Totally. It does it all!
Hey Dave,
Thanks for making this video. I heard you mention a bit of fatigue with this product. I believe there is a company that makes an adapter for the Ronin to be used on a steadycam vest. Would that be possible with the Ronin S? I would like to know your thoughts on this. Thanks.
- Paul
Great tip. I think you could use it without any type of adapter really. It could essentially just rest on a steadicam arm!
Exactly. Honestly, THAT is the setup that needs to happen. It makes the most sense and would get out all the footsteps.
The footage looks a little bit shaky... Is this your first try with the ronin-s?
Awesome video Dave! Anyway do you think this’ll work with the bmpcc 4K...I’m still using my gh5s and sigma 18-35 right now but it’d be awesome if the bmpcc that I have on pre order would fit also
Both will work on the Ronin-S!
How did you mount your smallhd focus on it?
TOKYObrah looks like he used the cold shoe mount that came with the monitor. Look at 5:09 you can see the bracket.
link to bracket for monitor?
Thats what i was gonnna ask. Guess you cant do the 360 trick with the monitor cord though
following on this what did he used
No.
My first gimbal, aside from a OSMO+. I find it to be a little top heavy. Think I just have to get used to it.
Hi. Thank you for informative videos you always share. I have a question, which monopod would you recommend to be used as a Ronin S extender?
I dont mean to be so offtopic but does anybody know a trick to get back into an Instagram account??
I stupidly lost the login password. I love any tips you can offer me
@Harley Jesiah Instablaster =)
@Callen Darian i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and Im trying it out atm.
Seems to take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Callen Darian It worked and I finally got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thank you so much, you saved my ass !
@Harley Jesiah No problem :D
Great Review! My Ronin-S is on its way and I came across the Glide Gear DNA-6000 which seems to support the Ronin-S and its only $399. Not too shabby and I wonder if that's going to make the difference for camera ops who do a ton of run and gun.
you must have if you use roins s: amzla.com/us3h30quxlpv
how does this compare to zhiyun crane v1, v2, or 2
It’s better :$
What about for travel videographers? I understand that this is the best single handed gimbal for professional work but would you recommend it for hobbyists who just want to travel the world and film or is it way too big/heavy?
I think it depends on what camera you are using. Why do you ask? What’s the setup you have?

it depends on your gear. If you have a small mirrorless camera get the v2 and save the money for other things. If you have the gh5 that can actually use these features def get the ronin. If you have the crane 2 (not the v2) and not using gh5 you might not notice a lot of difference from what you can currently do.
Got mine last week, life has never been the same!
Still waiting on the focus wheel and record button functionality for the canon 1dxii...
Hey David keep up the great reviews...I pre ordered mine June 5th...Stiil on back order Ugggg can't wait to get my hands on it!
Awesome!!! You’re gonna love it!
Hi does anybody know if you can use it with the Panasonic Hc-x2000
1:45 heavy jittering here, why? Nice and helpful video btw
That was Connor’s first time using a gimbal :)
Haha yeah, that was my bad. However, I like to think it wasn’t too bad for my first go at a gimbal 😜
You guys really should try to explain why (in the video) things look bad or don't use the footage. Show proper footage with it balanced right and a GOOD operator otherwise you really need to tell people IN THE VIDEO (NOT THE COMMENTS) that this is someone's first time.

focus wheel does work on canon.. Im using a canon 5d mk 4 with sigma art lens attached and it works perfectly
Thank you for the detailed explanation. I wanted to know more about the POWER OUT and no one seemed to mention it until I watched your video. This will be great for us Sony A6500 users filming in 4k!
The focus wheel option seems like a really good idea for the gh cameras.
Is there a reason you say DGI instead of DJI?
I really wanted one of these, but I guess I'll need a different camera first.
Very informative! Thanks for the info. First time on your channel, subbed!
Fantastic video. Just snagged a Ronin S myself. Love your attention to detail
Thank you!! Let us know if you want any more specific ronin s reviews
Does anybody put an FS700 or a FS7 on it ..??
Not sure if those will work! Too long
The older style gimbal is only good if you want to capture video of someones waist. That's my number 1 complaint about using that style, you have to lift it so high just to get it to eye level. So for larger crews or smaller crews the ronin s is going to be better 99% of the time.
I recently own one and loving it, great review thanks
That RED camera looks so cool
Its a canon 1DC
Great energy, concise review, good points. Thank you very much! 😊😊👍🏻
So cool. What type of RUclips channels do you recommend use this type of gimbal?
Toy unboxing channels of course! What kind of question is that? You use a gimbal when you want smooth/cinematic shots, doesn't matter what type of YT channel.
lol
I was just at the Flagship store yesterday in Hong Kong, they told me the focus knob would work with a 5D4
Alright!
another great video boss man! I can not wait until i get mine. DJI needs to send it asap!!
nice videos..
its possible to know the monitor reference, in your ronin s...
thank you
Hot swap battery ?
