I like the game

Just completed it with my 8 YO son. We had a blast. The camera was difficult to follow every now and again but ot was an overall great experience.

I actually think NSMBU (and Luigi U) is the best 2d mario in a vacuum. If it was the only NSMB game we ever got I feel like that would have done wonders for its perception. The game seems just like the others on your first playthrough, but man once you start replaying the games you begin to see a hook U has that no other game in the series really has. The level design is so multilayered and well thought out and I honestly didn’t think it was possible for a game to handle every kind of playstyle so seamlessly. The flow is just so damn good once you get good enough to start running through all the levels.

Sonic Mania is the only good 2d classic sonic game, change my fucking mind.

Level design was subpar. Level music was bad. Trip's "hard mode" story was horrible with the enemy placement. Chaos emerald special stages were atrocious. Trip's super form controlled terribly. Boss battles were atrocious...Like why are you making people wait to attack a boss in a game series that's supposed to be about speed. The power were super cool, but most of them useless and I only found myself using 3 of them consistently.

The game just sucks for me on every aspect: Level design is bland, bosses are boring, take forever and have awful music, the final bosses are hard af for the wrong reason, as if it was just never playtested kinda bad, the powers are situational or just “1 free boss hit” kinda deal, the ost is inconsistent, Tee being awesome and Sunoe being his Sonic 4 self, the story is meh, the special stages are meh, nothing clicked for me NOTHING, even Sonic 4 clicked a bit with me

Sweet karma, you praise a lazy nostalgia rehash once, SEGA keeps delivering them. I'll never get over this pathetic god-like status they gave to such a barebone and unimaginative game like Generations. No, the physics are slippery yet heavy and platforming with them is NOT "fun". Also Frontiers is another overbloated mid game.

Wait, so the multiplayer sucks and it's better to play in Singleplayer? I'm actually interested in checking this out now. I though this would be another New Super Mario Bros Situation, where playing alone kinda sucks, because everything is designed around having up to 4 players on screen.

I agree with most of your points but only because I'm an adult... just like you're an adult. Though, I don't think it's fair to judge the difficulty of the game through the eyes of an adult. It's a children's game, thus it's not supposed to be demanding. I enjoyed the game as a child and I played it from start to finish. Just like you seem to have done. If it actually was too easy back then, would we have finished it?

I gotta defend frontiers here, even by playing only the first island. The devs wantend to bring a good game, so the resources went to the open world to make it as good as possible, and probably, in case it fails, they had at least some kind of tradicional boost game. We know that Sega don't care if the game isn't finished, and i don't know how they pulled up with the DLC, but they did it, and at least for me, it's a totally fine excuse to port old levels

The only new game I would play over wonder is new Wii and that’s it. Other other new games are so bland that they can’t hold my attention unlike wonder. Wonder is in my top 5 2D mario games with 3 world and land 2 being the only games better than it in my opinion.

Now that you mention the rigid animation, could you imagine a 3D Sonic game with the Zenless Zone Zero treatment? I think that's exactly what it needs, I'm also pretty bored of these character models, it's been the same models with only slight tweaks for about a decade now if not more, no matter how good the Sonic game may be if it's still using the same assets it always puts me down, the first thing I do is download a mod because modders tend to actually do something unique with the models.

Honestly, best review of this game I ever seen. Thorough, honest, not really concise, but to be able to vocally explain the game's strengths and shortcomings in a step by step first impression manner will take time. But it will paint a crystal clear picture about the impression it leaves on a player. It all boils down to step in the right direction, but there's SO MUCH left to be desired in all aspects of it's design. (Rushed game unfinished game) Well made video, lets hope sonic team learn from this game and move forward.

Honestly I just wish sega instead did something proper and original so it doesn't feel like a copy paste job or a rehash. I speak for everyone in saying we have too much green goddamn hill. And the fact generations is coming back AGAIN is just killing my mood of sega making original designs. Which is such a damn shame because ouranos island has like 4 unique stages and _they're fantastic_ and outside of the the whole "checkpoints not existing in dlc" Final horizons cyberspace stages are again _very good_ The fact that these numbnuts at sega of japan have some genuinely creative juices waiting to be squeezed after generations but the ceo just wants the same market scheme that even I'm sure the programmers are sick of, I just got to ask.. _why do they keep doing this?_

I picked it up on sale for my Steam Deck and enjoyed it enough to play through and unlock Trip. I never used the powers or multiplayer, so I can see I didn’t play it “properly” and how it would be infuriating paying full price expecting it to live up to the advertising.

This video is so just nit picking for views and engagement. For example take your point about the one wonder seed levels. “They really drag the game down so much” “if I wanted a break I’d just stop playing the game” Keep in mind these levels are optional easy challenges that take less than a minute to complete and your genuinely advocating for less content in a 60$ game. If this is what your critiquing it on then I think it’s safe to say your scratching the bottom of the barrel.

It's crazy that sonic 1 basically has better physics than most modern sonic games

All you have to do to activate an emerald power is flick the right stick in the corresponding direction and press X. Very quick and snappy once you remember where they are

What if the Sonic franchise had retired after Generations? Had Sonic Team made a contract that prevents anymore new titles from existing. And only allowed ports and remasters of all the existing games from the first Sonic to Generations(even having Whitehead to remaster both SegaSonic Arcade and Knuckles' Chaotix)?

I’m not a gamer, nor have I played any of the other Sonic games besides Forces & Frontiers. Mainly because I’m broke as hell. But I find the gameplay in Frontiers pretty fun (All in my opinion)
