Fear is also a 24 max range spell that will get you killed via over extending. I use fear plenty, just primarily defensively, peeling for teammates. Same reason I rarely use shadow burn in this video without the destro tree range talent.

Not much is going to change in that regard, sadly. My headset stops picking up my voice properly when I try and tune it down to avoid keyboard noises....and I'm not really inspired to go waste $150+ on a new quieter mechanical keyboard, or better headset/microphone setup when my current works fine. Especially when my videos don't generate income, with this just being more of a hobby (and honestly reviewing my own games for self improvement was the primary reason I even started recording myself at all, only started actually posting them because people on the lock discord kept acting like lock was a dumpster tier class and demanded proof when I corrected them) . Best bet if the keyboard noises are too annoying is to just mute all sound and vibe to some music of your own choosing while you watch.

It's a bit of a double edged sword, really..... Their changes are a big part of the reason SoD is getting constant problems, and causing people to quit, but doing vanilla with changes is also one of the only reasons a large number of people came back at all. Personally I'd have been happier with just vanilla classic over again. Going forward, it's also going to cause issues because I'm not sure players will willingly go back to pure vanilla and it's slower leveling ever again, at least not in big enough numbers to sustain a pvp community. Add to the fact that Cata classic will likely bomb, retail has been declining for years (and despite a new expansion coming, and it literally being the 20th anniversary of the game, they already canceled Blizzcon) and they're doing a retail mop thing now which kind of kills any potential classic mop. They're just backing themselves into a corner they don't really have the talent to get back out of as a company. That super long winded reply aside, to more specifically talk about the tuning values: pvp needed SOMETHING. It was way too fast with no damage nerf, I was already bursting at like aq40 gear levels.... That said, 50% (last week's patch) was way too much nerfed... This week's feels closer, but still off. Dots even at -30% are doing too much damage... Nukes, on the other hand, don't feel as meaty. Destro in particular was a bit of a let down in this patch. It still feels off, but it's more because of the things added just aren't balanced themselves. Like void plague and swp do an obscene amount of dot damage... Graced+haunted up ua/corr/agony does as well. Like class mechanics themselves are showing up as a problem, not just numbers . A team of multiple hunters can basically make an entire base in ab immune to melee via entrapment proccing frost traps. Alot of it is just frankly badly designed, and the veneer is wearing thin for people. Sadly there really just isn't a better game alternative.

The main issue with the pvp gear is that they literally fucked every player over that didn't save the tokens from STV, anyone that didn't do that has to spend the entire day for like a week straight just to get blood guard. The pvp gear is only 5 percent better then honored nightmare set.

U do realize the pvp gear gives like 10 more Stam and AP/SP? It’s not gonna stop me from dying with VP/SWP. I love sods PvP it’s very fun but it for sure has a survivability issue. My main concern is the fact that no one seems to mention that we are not in the endgame yet. PvP resilience is coming. They need to adjust the abilities directly and not damage overall. I play rogue and I want mutilate to do less damage. It’s way overtuned. Void plague needs to be tuned, ability is beyond broken. If they focused on that, PvP would be lethal fun. I love how fast paced it is. It feels dangerous and that’s fun.

@@Bennydenim well for starters your class is S tier so you are fine. What I am getting at is every time they release something, it doesn't go through testing... so 20 percent or more of the server abusing it, the other 80 percent who have jobs and a life can't even compete. Nightmare epic trinket for example.. a guy made over 20k gold doing that exploit.

@@t.d.140You can and do cast Sbolt with NF/Ruin.... That's the beauty of the build, it can do both nuke and dot... That said the nuking is a bit on the weaker side yet, given the rank of sbolt we currently have access to. At 60 it'll be significantly harder hitting. I've had a sbolt clear 5k in pvp during regular classic before.

​@@TheDrosulthird week of reduction like last week and I find NF/ruin working the best build and it is so much fun. The dotting option plus SB can crit quite nicely overall the build I always loved to play. I rock Suc. In BG vs alliance so much control 1v2 situation easy seduction + fear on other guy feels so nice. Plus there isn't a better feeling of casting a SB and mid cast u get the Nightfall proc BOOM incoming 2x shadow bolts that fly at the same time

Yeah, blizz kind of dropped the ball on this "testing", tbh. It was obvious very early after launching that it was far too much damage reduction. They should have been lowering the value of it by at least 10% a day to get a better feel for what would have worked to make pvp work. The big worry now is that they're going to just push live a new value with zero testing, or just ignore feedback entirely and go live with 50%. They always seem to take wild swings instead of smaller micro adjustments.

Not doing anything special for the camera distance. There's a slider in the menus that let's you increase the max distance you can move the camera, just max that out.....Also fwiw, I turn off any camera follow options so that I can look behind me while moving.

If I remember right the Questie addon has the option to either double the normal distance or to increase it to the maximum the game supports. It's just a checkmark. It is a huge improvement for people like me who play on ultra wide. I can damn near see both lumber mill and mines at the same time if they were on level haha

He also might have ultra wide or very large monitor. This it what it looks like on mine, compared to my 18 inch laptop looks much more zoomed in even on max distance.

I don't remember if it's the same name for classic/sod but it's a version of Gladiator Lossa... I'll be honest though I rarely even notice the voice for it anymore typically I see them bubble then just internally count out so I can start casting right before it drops

Alliance seem to be worse at it, but you'll see it on horde too... There's kind of a "meta gaming" the system aspect to it, where as soon as it becomes somewhat obvious your team isn't going to win, then people will just blatantly start throwing the game to end it faster. There's really little incentive to keep trying under the current system, and even less incentive to try and "rally the troops" via chat, when all that does is get you chat silenced/banned via the entirely automated report system blizzard currently uses. EDIT: Also Gnomes.... alliance are bad because they have more disgusting lesser races than horde does... Gnomes being the most egregious example.

Yeah the soul link thing has been a bug for years, though I don't remember it working through instance portals /bg queues, so was a bit surprised I still had it up in that game. As far as the mini map and max zoom? Those should both be stock ui options. Right click on the icon that brings up your bg stats near you map and you should have a mini map option (you'll have to unlock it's position to move it)... For camera distance, there's a setting in the base ui menus that let's you increase max camera distance.

There aren't a ton of "optional" talents in either the destro tree or affliction tree. 21 is the baseline for ruin... 5 improved sbolt, 5 bane, 5 crit talent, 1 sburn, 2 destructive reach, then 2 filler points in either searing pain or that snare proc... For this vid I had them in the snare proc since I'm typically using haunt over searing pain as my shadow bolt chaser in the long/short/instant cast combo. Affliction talents you only need 19 points currently so there's an extra point in the destro filler talent for this video, but at 60 you'll be 30 points into affliction. 5 corruption, 5 suppression, 2 lifetap, 2 drain life, 1 amp curse, 2 grim reach, 2 nightfall... Of note, the drain life talent is pure filler as you don't cast it right now without master channeler, and it's basically just for soloing..... That said you could also take fel concentration instead, and slide 2 points out of suppression to cap it........ There ARE a few super niche pvp situations where you could boomer cast drain life (hunters being one).... But it's super rare that the situation is right, and the better solo ability of just swapping to matter channeler and taking full suppression is probably the more useful play. For a pure pvp build though I'd probably have gotten fel conc for the 1-2x a day it's actually useful

It also makes healing really strong. Even as non soul link, it's pretty close to impossible to die with an even semi decent healer around you, unless you're being focus fired.

With the current low rank of sbolt (the next rank is at 52) sbv is a bit weaker than should be. It is still good for stv event though, so perhaps I'll get a sbv video again for this phase

ElvUI is the base ui. Pitbull unit frames. Neat plates for name plates. Battleground Targets. Dbm pvp mods, capping. Recount. Weak auras. should be everything visible on screen I can think of.

The entire point of getting the range talents is so that you don't have to stand in charge/intercept/counterspell range. Master channeler means casting drain life, which means being 24 yards to target, when you almost never want to be closer than 31 yards. It just opens you up to way more opportunities to get hit/focused

I'd look at it more about what skills you want to learn. Dotting and positioning? sm/sb. You'll have coex to help carry your positioning a bit. Hybrid dotting and nuking? Nf/ruin giving you both range talents makes the build easier, so long as you can position well... But it's not a specialist build so you do have to learn to do both dotting and nuking rotations/combos For learning pure destro nuking/positioning, this is the only time I'd actually endorse using meta rune. It's lower potential than chaos bolt, but it'll function as a training wheels version of the spec in the short term. Run incinerate pants and work on getting off the spell combos incinerate - immolate - conflag, and trying to hard cast during back draft windows. The double life tap + armor + instant searing pains can be a kind of safety net to cover mistakes in positioning until you get it down better... Once you do, you can sub chaos bolt in the rotation when you would have icin incinerated.

It's already pretty noticeably weaker than affliction and nf/ruin. As for the patch, it's likely going to hurt destro more than affliction, as well. It's kind a shame, really. I prefer to be more nuke oriented, even at 60 as sm/ruin, with dots being more of an emergency use thing.... Not a super viable playstyle right yet, however.

The burst with bolt into haunt into burn is pretty solid, just didn't get much nuking done this game because they where dying so fast.... Beyond that it's really more about getting both destructive reach and grim reach, ruin is just a bonus.
