Hey bud love anytime i see people making Lock pvp content. I am a former R1, Crimson Duelest, Multi Glad Warlock. Couple of things first it looks like you've never even had Synergy activated and 25% dot damage increase is big, second getting drain life up with Master Channler is essential because Nightfall procs an insane amount. If u run Demonic Grace and have a spellstone equiped u can push in alittle to land drain life and not die. I never use unending affliction in PvP also because I want to snapshot the dot not my abilities. The phase is done now but I ran Nightfall, 3 points in DE, and then Shadowburn and never ended a fight or duel under probably 75% health. Things are obviously going to change in Phase 3 but demonic Grace is great to pop when you get Procs like Nigjtfall into a Shadowburn bc at least one normally crits, and then i run improve Shadow Bolt so my Dot damage is increased by 20% as well! I have had my corruption ticking for 235+ in bgs with drain life doing roughly 130-140 per second and healing me for over 200 a second. I just really want people to understand how good Affliction can be and it's only going to get better! Good luck in Phase 3 bud!
Yeah this game was recorded right as synergy came out, and hadn't yet learned it was a casted spell (and technically the buff is on your pet, not you). Regardless, I'm somewhat eager for p3 runes to make synergy rune a non factor. Once dots can crit, snapshotting Demonic grace for one set of dots getting a full +30% crits should make maintaining shaadow and flame uptime very high for a belt rune vs having to rely on your pet to proc synergy..... There's also some potential with dance of the wicked rune on boots giving you basically full uptime 30%dodge and 60% for 6 of every 20 seconds (it'd be a MASSIVE loss of spellpower though) Regarding builds, I'm definitely looking forward to nightfall/ruin this patch, just hoping sbolt will have enough juice without shadow mastery and it's max rank at lvl 50 being lower. But yeah, GL to you this phase as well, my warlock brother!
Warlocks remember there is no place in PVP for metamorphosis warlocks! If you come across one make sure to banish or enslave them so they can think about the horrible decision they've made to run meta while they sit there unable to control their character! Also make sure you curse of tounges any healers right away, a small thing that seperates good warlocks from newer ones but it makes a big difference.
Great videos Drosul, 1 thing though.. your voice is REALLY low and hard to hear well. Not sure how to resolve that but would be better to hear you a little better :)
Yeah for that particular video I was filming it later at night, trying not to wake any of the family up. Had to keep it down. I wasn't super thrilled with the video in general, and there's one notable mistake here in that I never actually BUFFED with synergy (the rune is a self cast buff on your pet), which explained the lack of procs..... but people had requested an affliction video and that was the one i had
Lol yep, made it through an entire day of bgs and my raid that night before realizing it myself. Was only after the raid when looking at the logs and setting it never procced. That game was filmed during that day as well. That all said, I'm not sure I'd use that rune at all for pvp now though... One of affliction's big problems is that the runes kind of suck and don't synergize well for pvp.
This video is so cute! I agree it can be really fun when the other team is drooling on their keyboard and you have plenty of healers. Only a handful of players even attempted to touch you. That one Hunter at the BS nearly killed you when they focused you. It's so much easier on Horde when you don't have a bunch of Undead Rogues stun locking you to death while nullifying your Fear. You also don't have to deal with the insane burst damage from Shamans. The damage that Paladin did to you at the LM does not at all compare to what Shamans can do.
You seem really upset. But fwiw, anecdotally speaking, I find more paladins will heal bgs than shaman, so alliance should get more healers per capita. Beyond that, yes undead is a huge problem, and I'd never make an alliance lock because of it, and shaman are a hell of a lot more dangerous than paladins (who's only real threat to lock is that they can eye for an eye crit you in half, when you global them, if you play destro). Though ele burst is limited range because of flame shock and lava burst, and the spec is crippled by curse of tongues....meanwhile enhance hits hard, but you should literally never be in range of one to begin with, unless you've already made mistakes. They can't gap close, and their snare range is limited. Regarding the "only a handful of players even attempted to touch me" bit, the majority of the time that's because positioning makes touching me a near impossibility, which is part of the point of the videos I've been making. That hunter doing that much damage to me was specifically because I got greedy and had bad positioning.
@@TheDrosul "the majority of the time that's because positioning makes touching me a near impossibility" - You did indeed maintain a good distance in each encounter for the most part. However, there were plenty of opportunities for the ranged Alliance on that team to touch you and none of them took it. No melee trying to push inward to gain ground for their group. It's also a rare occasion where there are absolutely no stealth classes to put pressure on you. It's a terrible Alliance team as usual. How much do you want to bet once your team got 3 nodes that the chat on the Alliance side was "go next"? A small handful of Alliance were likely trying to actually win at that point. "yes undead is a huge problem, and I'd never make an alliance lock because of it, and shaman are a hell of a lot more dangerous than paladins" - It's always Horde Warlocks lecturing people on the forums about how Affliction is in a fine spot for PvP. You've said this yourself while maintaining that Affliction is "C tier" against teams with good dispellers. When you play Alliance, the Horde team is very likely going to have good dispellers. It's sad the number of times I've seen Priests on Alliance standing around with most of their mana trying to heal themselves through magic debuffs instead of using Dispel Magic. Let's see a video of a game where your team is getting beat by Alliance and there are plenty of rogues to put pressure on you. That would go a long way to demonstrate the position that Affliction Warlock is in at the moment. It's a shame there are no statistics on the score board in classic to show how much damage you are actually doing. It would be interesting to see how much pressure you are actually putting on the other team damage wise in comparison to other classes.
My only 2 characters at 40 right now are Warlock and Shadow. I'd sadly have to say that Shadow is a full Tier above Warlock right now generally speaking. It does absurd amounts of damage (but significantly less burst than Destro does), has a ton of utlity with snares (mindflay), stuns (blackout), team healing (Vamp embrace + PW:S+ offheals), offensive and defensive dispells, the strongest execute in the game, layers a bunch of debuffs to act as dispell protection, and can shut down a hard casting caster with homonculi. Largely shadow is also DRAMATICALLY more forgiving as a spec than either affliction or destro are, where you can be really punished for being caught in a bad position, but shadow can more often zug their way through the situation. That all said, I still pretty substantially prefer playing my warlock. Destro does things that no other spec can really do burst potential wise, and the runes all synergize well for the class.... Affliction is a bit rougher, the runes lack synergy and are a bit awkardly implimented, at least with regard to pvp. I'd also say that affliction is just inherently less useful in any burst dependent meta.... and that bursting is frankly just "easier" because it leaves significantly less room for counter play. The skill ceiling on warlock also feels substantially higher, and thus more rewarding in general to me. I've been playing the class for 20 years now and I still find there's areas I can improve my play further. I will say, however, that (I think I mentioned it in the video as well), that my overall favorite spec for warlock pvp in a vanilla environment is sm/ruin based, since it gets basically all of the nuking power of pure destro with all of the dotting power of pure affliction. I'm not sure it will quite work that well in SoD, however, given how the runes work, but I feel like I can probably make something work, specifically with sbolt volley. We'll see when the time comes though, I might end up doing sm/ruin with chaos bolt instead, which will be interesting.

you have to actually cast a grimoire (its a buff) for it to proc, i was using it my whole leveling and didnt realise till i hit 40 :D

Uhh Synergy is amazing for Affliction tbh

After your experience, which class is better pvp?
