I’m feeling much better about him. I actually found myself feeling massively sorry for him, has to hurt getting slammed like that before you even come to the city. Let’s hope they bring in some solid assistants, Todd Rierden would be solid. Bottom line is the players want to win, and so does Green, he is going to prove everyone wrong.

Ok this press conference changed my mind on Coach Travis...he's pretty articulate, relatable & approachable (it seems anyways)...starting to get it. Longstanding fans need to know however...why did he bark & point to to Chris Neil on the bench...making Tucker go absolutely bonkers, bench brawl, ejections...We need answers!!

I don't know... i think there was better out there but Green comes across as organized, likes analytics, likes looking at what makes winning teams tick, and accountability. Could all be word salad because they all say the same thing but i think it could work. If they can survive their annual fall losing streak and get into the play offs, this move will be a win.

What kind of fan takes a s**t on a coaching hire, and a human being, before a single game is played....before even 50 games are played? There's alot of angry, and mentally/spiritually/physically unwell sports fans out there, and that includes many Sens fans, who legitimately need to talk to a therapist. They make the city, the organization, and the rest of us. For the love of God, let things unfold for awhile before commenting, and even then, just relax, and just be kind, because you can't control any of it, anyway. You can hire the coach you want but at the end you need a good team. I watched the Rangers - Canes match and there's no way the Senators are close to that caliber. We need older, stronger more talented players and a solid goalie. It will not be next year nor the year after even with the best coach. So, don't blame the choice of Green he will have to work with a second grade team compare to the teams in the series right now...... and I am a Sens fan....

Travis Green may not have as extensive of a dossier as some of the other coach candidates. Jacques Martin will still be in the organization as a coach advisor, One thing for sure is that he will work the players hard at training camp, which will be a great change as compared to the DJ era. If former coach Martin had input on the choice, he is likely the best fit among all the candidates.

Really curious for how management will spin this hire. Accountability is such a cheap explanation. Data driven coaching ? Will need strong assistant coaching. Please without Capuano. With Gruden in? Maybe an experienced assistant like Claude Julien?Already thinking of a train coming of the rails again in November... I hope the Ottawa media dares to ask the right questions. This is not what the fanbase was waiting for.

I would have preferred a Todd Nelson or Karl Taylor to this hiring. At least those guys have had lots of success at AHL level and maybe they could translate it in NHL. Green wasn’t good in Vancity and didn’t fair well in New Jersey either. I was so hopeful when Andlauer bought the team… nothing they have done to date has given me any hope… NOTHING!!

I certainly hope if this hiring goes badly (which I think we ALL think it will) that Staois should be fired. Most couch potatoes could tell you this is a bad hiring.

seems like Senators and Flyers are always having goaltender issues. Only once in a while they have a good goalie, but most of the time, their starter goalie is always subpar

Sens arent close and this is a stepping stone coach. Thats it. Sens fans need to be real sometimes. You could offer berube 10 sheets a season and he wouldnt have come. Take it for what it is . Its a roster problem, not a coaching problem

I would love for the Sens to pick up Todd Reirden as an associate coach. The pens just let his contract expire, but he has a lot of experience having been an assistant or associate coach for Dan Bylsma, Barry Trotz, and Mike Sullivan, and won the cup with the Caps with Trotz. After Trotz left, he was head coach for two straight years having won all star game honours for one of those years. Seems like the ideal guy for the Sens.
