It's interesting the cohosts of the Locked On Sens podcast discussed the Canucks' supposed improved d-core (starting shortly after the 8:20 mark, ending shortly before the 11:50 mark). There's no doubt the Canucks this season became a more defensively-responsible team, helping them, with good goaltending from Thatcher Demko and, in the postseason, during his absence, Casey DeSmith and Arturs Šilovs.
to me, you gotta move chychrun. Chabby has been a loyal soldier and Chychrun has value in his contract. seems obvious to me
Yea and Chabby’s shown how great he can be in Ottawa. The news of him finalizing a procedure on his wrist is giving Eichel vibes. Good player with nagging issue that hopefully recovers, returns and dominates.
I’m sort of hopefully the bring back both and try to get at least one of them actually playing well so they could sell high instead of after both having really subpar seasons

You mentioned you would consider moving down if we won the lottery and San Jose kept 2nd overall, by swapping 2nd and 16th for the 1st. What if the trade were the 1st and Korpisalo for the 2nd overall and say NJs 2nd rounder?
in reference to Hamonic, when you say bury him I assume you mean in the minors. I'm not 100% sure how the full NM clause works, but doesn't that prevent the team from sending him to the minors?
If you can make the money work then you leave the left side of the D as is.Bring in a proven RD that can move bodies and play a stay at home type of game along with possibly another RD and your six are set.
the comparison to the Vancouver Canucks could not be more accurate. They flipped things around completely with just a coaching change and some tweaks to the D-core. Don't lose faith!
I say more, via a comment I posted moments ago, on how the Canucks went from a non-playoff team to one that late last week won its 1st post-2020 playoff series. Of Canada's NHL teams only the Sens have yet to win a post-2020 playoff series (as the Sens didn't qualify for a post-2017 pre-2025 playoff series).

I love Hammy as he just seems like a good guy but hes definately at the end of his career. Hopefully he can find his next thing to do in life
I really liked JBD this season. Don;t care about his age and hes still pretty new to the NHL. If the new coach can get him to hit and block more and he can easily find himself a full time 6/7 role next season
I don’t think you can trade Chabot Heard they tried to before trade deadline but no interest.
The hit from behind by Holmberg was because the opposing player was holding his stick and couldn't protect himself when checked and wouldn't let go of it, so Holmberg fed it to him. The ref apparently told the Bruins coach that he could of called a penalty on both or no penalty for either. He decided on the latter, rightly or wrongly. Cheers lads!
Chick can go. Hammer as well. I’d actually keep Branny on a one year cheap deal as he can play up the line up when we have the inevitable injuries. JBD is a serviceable 7th D.

First time checking in, in a while. Staios’ end of season press conference was pretty depressing, not getting a lot of confidence out of the guy. I want to give him a chance but as a communicator, he’s not the best. They need to let Poulin handle the communication I think. I sure hope they make adequate changes this year though because this team is so far away.

@@calumleaman5431 Agreed. The public part of the GM's job isn't to let the fans know the details of what he's planning to do. It's to communicate broad organizational direction and principles. For example, saying the Sens prioritize character and hockey IQ is nice to know. Anything else should be kept close to the chest until the transactions that implement a part of the plan are complete.
He communicates like a normal GM. I’m looking forward to seeing a new direction with the franchise
Chychrun, brannstrom, and JBD should be moved. There are options on the right side this year in UFA. Bring in a shut down right side veteran. Tanev, Demelo, Dillion, Pesce, Roy, etc... some will resign with their team, but some teams dont have the cap to sign. I'd like to see kleven and a vet on third pair, possibly Gaunette if no vet can be obtained.
I like chychrns vibes as one of our boys.
I think he just needs to skate with more vets to settle him down and get some discipline to not always go for haymaker plays
JC n Branny gotta go, can't see any way around it. Kleven n JBD, get a steady RHD for Chabot. Move along
I expect that Kleven LD to replace Brannstrom LD & that they move out Chychrun LD for Ullmark G this summer. Then I think they should sign UFA Matt Roy RD to replace Chychrun in the top 4. Top pair - Sanderson - Zub, 2nd pair - Chabot - Roy, 3rd pair Kleven - JBD/Hamonic. Hamonic could get bought out, but if not I expect he will be the 7th D & injury replacement guy on defence.
They should also look at moving out Korpisalo, Brannstrom & Joseph to bring in a point producer at forward. JBD was in his first yr last season & improved quite a bit as the season went on & he blocked more shots than anyone else on this team. He will only get better & this team needs a shot blocker. He'll be great with Kleven, I see him as the 6th D.
I would look at moving Chychrun,Hamonic,JBD and Forsberg for Jusso Valimaki,Sean Durzi and Connor Ingram.

Chychrun needs to be moved. We don't need a guy that has to play with a certain player to succeed! Definitely not a guy that wants 6-7mill with that condition! Bring in a steady shut down guy to play with chabot who is better defensively than chychrun.
It seems to me that the biggest problem with the Chychrun - JBD pair is JBD. Whatever decision Stios makes , I hope it has nothing to do with what fans feel.
I’d like to see a comparison of stats of JBD with Chychrun vs. Branny. From my eye test, I felt Chychrun would get to deep and leave JBD exposed on 2 on 1 on turn overs, i remember seeing a few times after a turnover then a goal, Chychrun being the 3rd player back. I know plus/minus is not the best stat but -30 for Chychrun vs. -7 for JBD.
