Idk. If there’s another opportunity to get a bigger stronger player who can put up numbers in the playoffs then go ahead and add to chychrun if you need to. I think stutzle needs a bigger stronger body next to him.

I'd love Ehlers he's small but can play a scrappy game. Injuries are a concern but saying that the Jets don't even know how to use him he gets no PP1 minutes and isn't deployed properly would easily be a 80pt player wherever he goes. Would assume him and Chychrun would both be sign and trades for the deal to really make sense
Saku Koivu was Captain of the Montreal Canadiens, and played his best hockey there, he only played for Anaheim at the end of his carrer ………
I really like Ehlers, but I'm not sure this is the guy in the top 6 I would like to see. It seems to me the biggest issue the Sens have with scoring has to do with grit. They don't seem to be able to forecheck and get messy in front of the net enough. Is there a player of this type and with good hands who can tip pucks available? I don't know, but I think that would be my ideal candidate.
No, Ottawa doesn't need another soft forward, we have plenty of those, they need someone to reduce the goals against, that's not Ehlers, he's just more of the same. They need a #1 goalie & a top 4 pairing RD with a mean streak, not another cherry picker.
I don't think either player would want to extend in that trade scenario. They might waive to play the one year out, but you have to think both teams would rather do a sign and trade with different teams and get more value in the return. I do think Ehlers would fit well in this Sens roster I just can't see it happening
This might be an unpopular choice but I think they should do something with Chicago. Chabot + Boston first for Seth jones 50% retained salary. Not necessarily this exact trade but they really need to shed salary to change the overall salary structure of the group and create more flexibility. I’d keep chychrun and use his low cap hit and try to sign him or trade him at the deadline
That trade would have to be a sign and trade to make it worthwhile.
Sens don't need more goal scorers, they need to shore up D and G
Staios made it very clear in his end of year press conference that we are 3-5 years away from the playoffs and that our goalies are fine. From that I am gathering that there will be very few trades. It looks like he will be depending on the players we have to get better to end up making the playoffs

I think the Sens to do a one for one hockey trade with Chicky but who knows. I'm really looking forward to see what Stevey has in store for us during the offseason
I say no to Ehlers trade you propose, Ottawa needs a stronger defense man , don't trade away one of your better defense man , for less then or equal a D man.
What a HORRIBLE idea. Let's repeat the DeBrincat mistake we already repeated with Tarasenko. What Ottawa needs (and needed when the DeBrincat trade was made, not to mention the Chycrun trade) is a solid defensive-minded, right-handed, right D. Think Marc Methot but a rightie. We also need better bottom 6 players to bolster our defensive play (think the next-gen Nick Paul/Connor Brown). We've got more than enough top 6 talent. If you want to start talking Adam Lowry with something extra (dare I say Dyan DeMelo who was a +46 this year), then maybe, but the primary summer goal needs to be shoring up our defense.

You do this trade all day if you're Steve Staios. There's a surplus on LD we need to take care of and we're filling a hole in our top 6 left my Tarasenko. You can then use free agency to shore up the depth and maybe the goaltending as well. I just don't know if A) Ehlers would waive his NTC to come here and B) if WPG would even do this trade, because Chychrun did not look good defensively last season.
I think value wise it makes a lot of sense, but I don't think Ehlers is a good fit for Ottawa. While it would be nice to have another dynamic winger, we need to add grit and he has none of it. I get we're not even close to the playoffs but a player that caves in the playoffs is a huge red flag for me

Thats a guaranteed no-go on Ehlers. He's 28 years of age. He's already at 6 mil and even if the Sens could force Ehlers to stay in Ottawa, there's no way, Sens sign him to under 8 mil with the surrounding players picking up the same dollar contracts. So Sens only have him for 1 year, and that's what the Sens 7th overall draft pick was worth?? A reason why Chychrun wasn't worth the 7th overall pick!!! Not a chance at least on my fantasy team.
My bad, 7th overall was for Debrincat and that cost the Sens Korchinski, Arizona got the 12th Daniil But, and Buff's selected with 13, Zach Benson and its the 12th overall that Sens gave up for Chychrun.

Kid has skill but the attitude and character issues I see he crys to the ref when he get frustrated which is often id stay away no character in this player
