I think Vegas will find a way to keep Marchessault around. He is very important to this team. He could probably get a bigger raise with another team but if they offer some sort of no-trade/movement clause, I think it’d be worth it for him to stay. He’s got like four kids and almost all of them have been raised here. Kelly McCrimmon is going to have a busy offseason. Stephenson, Carrier, Amadio, and Hanifin are all UFAs in addition to Marchy, plus RFAs Dorofeyev and Korczak.

As a Wings fan, I'd be happy if both Raymond and Seider get around $8 mil each for 8 seasons. If Steve can lock either of them up for under that, I'll be impressed. Anything $9 and over I'll consider an overpayment. I really hope both boys want the 8 year deal and not a bridge deal. A bridge deal could seriously bite us in the ass hard.

If old man Killorn, who was never a sniper in this league, can get $6.25 at 33, there’s no reason for Toffoli to take $5.
Obviously Killorn is one of the curious overpayments in history (you don’t overpay just for the character), regardless the market is set. O Reilly took way less than Killorn for some reason. Toffoli shouldn’t.

Seider kinda plays a game that mixes both if their styles. He reminds me of a more offensive Konstantinov. And Raymond best winger we've had since prior to 08 tbh. Career year aside, Reinhart has been well over a ppg player during his time in Florida. That alone makes him worth resigning. He may not pot 50+ next season. But if he pots 35+ and finishes the season with 85+ points consistent, then he’s worth an extension.

Can't blame the guy for wanting market price. You have guys like Domi wanting current Reinhardt money. Does that make sense? It would be stupid of him and his agent (Sam's) to ask for the same money on an extended offer. You have a career year, you deserve a raise. If they don't see value in him, especially if Florida wins the cup this year, then someone will take him.
Someone will take John Tavares after his contract. So, anything's possible.

@@MisterMister5893 asking the money you want doesn’t mean you’ll receive it. I’m making $75 an hour does that mean that I’m going to receive $100 if I ask for it ? Probably not. NHL is a business so in Florida’s best interest they shouldn’t overspend for a guy that is 28 already and not 20. Reinhart will want an 8 years deal and not a bridge contract and panthers can’t even afford him so there’s a big chance he goes elsewhere unless he takes a discount. In open market he might receive it but that team will live to regret it down the road. The only thing that will sweeten the deal a little is the fact that the salary cap is rising significantly next year and the following years. Tavares has never played to the standards of his contract and main reason why Toronto has never done anything since his arrival. When you give a man that is not even your best player that kind of contract what do you expect others who played better to ask and command ? Toronto is a cursed team

As a Canes fan, I think one of the reasons we brought in Orlov is because we knew Pesce and Skjei were likely gone this summer. Although not immediately, we still have Alexander Nikishin and Scott Morrow to bring up eventually. I also think Teravainen is also gone, especially if that means we can make a Guentzel contract work. I love Tuevo but Gentzel clearly makes more of a in game impact. Minor correction. Pavelski's cap hit is 3.5M, but that excludes 2M in performance bonuses which he hit by playing 20 games, so he was paid 5.5M, it's just that 2M of it can be deferred to next season.

    • @MisterMister5893
      @MisterMister5893 7 часов назад

The stipulation is playing at least 20 games in a 82 game season to earn 2M more? Seems superficial. Did they do this to get around the cap? Doesn't he play most of the season anyway?

    • @jonmendelson1104

@@MisterMister5893 When players are 35 or older (Pavelski was 39 the entire season), on their entry level contract, or signing a 1-year deal following a very long term injury) they have the option to negotiate performance bonuses.
Yes, Pavelski played all 82 games this year but if he'd been injured or just not performing as well (as tend to happen at some point when you get up there in age), the team could have saved 2M. Sure, 20 games is an easy bar to hit and it helped them a bit on their cap this year (they have 2.6M in cap overages next year so some combination of his bonuses and guys like Wyatt Johnston/Logan Stankoven's bonuses), but they still have to deal with the cap hit next year so it just delayed the penalty.
Technically for Pavelski it was 1M for hitting 10 games and an additional 1M for hitting 20.
7 out of the 31 players on 35+ contracts had performance bonuses so it's not everyone but it's a decent percentage of them...the league lets them do it so they do it.
Some of them are tougher than others, though. Kyle Okposo gets 500k if the Panthers win the cup, Cam Talbot got 1M for playing 10 games, Blake Wheeler got 100k for each 10 games played up to 30, and Corey Perry got 225k for playing 10 games plus he got 50k for the team winning 2 rounds with him playing 50% of the games in round 2 and he'll get another 50k if the Oilers win this round (he's played 12/17 playoff games so far so even if he's benched he'll be in 50% of the total games). The other 35+ contracts don't have what's required to hit the performance bonus listed.

It'll be interesting to see what Dallas does, especially if they win a cup. They have a ton of UFAs and RFAs. I can see them moving on from Hakenpaa, Smith (I'd like to see him stay, he has good hustle), maaaaybe Wedgewood to make room for Murray (who's an RFA) or Porier. Duchene has been fantastic, the line with him, Marchment, and Seguin has been their best line some nights (when they're all healthy), he seems to like playing in Dallas. I'd REALLY like him to stay but I don't know if that happens.
Steel's another RFA, he's been very solid, I could see it going either way with him.
Harley is going to get paid.
I do wonder, if Dallas wins it all, does Pavelski retire? But unless that happens I imagine he sticks around (can't leave Johnston homeless lol).
Dellandrea is an arbitration eligible RFA. I can't fully recall what that means but I think he'd benefit from a change of scenery.

    • @mchaseross13
      @mchaseross13 2 месяца назад

      1) Murray is not getting called up. His performance has slipped in Cedar Park, and he’s fallen out of favor.
      2) The Stars have the ability to sign Harley, Tanev, Pavelski, and Duchene, but it would require some cap gymnastics. I expect Suter to be bought out. Faksa and Dadonov will likely be traded. Hakanpaa will not be re-signed. Pavelski likely will take another pay cut, and that’s okay. I don’t see him signing for anything over $2M, but it will have performance bonuses. Duchene is looking at $6M AAV. Harley and Tanev will be tougher. I think the Stars have to try and lock Harley down long term, and I see him getting a little bit more than Lindell got when he was signed long term. Tanev is looking at $4.5M AAV. Dellandrea is likely gone.
      3) Wedgewood could actually get re-signed for similar money. His stats are not helping his case, but I don’t think it’s his fault personally.
      4) With Bourque and Bichsel still to come up and so much cap space freeing up in 2025, I see no signs of the Stars slowing down. Seguin’s deal comes off the books two years later, and the cap will be substantially higher. More good times are coming in Dallas!

Also, Pavelski isn’t leaving DFW even if he retires. There have already been discussions about having him in a player development or front office role. His family is deeply rooted in Dallas now with his son playing for Dallas Stars Elite.

@@mchaseross13 How long have fans been asking for Suter to get bought out? I highly doubt that happens now (especially since he's actually been pretty decent lately when he's with Lundkvist). Speaking of, Lundkvist is another player that's an RFA next season, and I think Dallas needs to hold onto him for how he's been looking lately and how much they paid to get him.
Who is going to take Faksa and/or Dadanov?
Tanev is a pure rental. Very sceptical of them keeping him around after this season.
I think Duchene would maaaybe take less than that since he's still getting paid by Nashville. He seems to gel with the other players and seems to like the team/the city. Could just be wishful thinking on my part.
I'll definitely concur that the future looks very bright for the Stars!

    • @mchaseross13

      1) I’m not asking the Stars to buy Suter out. That’s just what needs to be done to make the money work if they want to re-sign Tanev. I’d MUCH rather have Tanev than Suter given the depth at LD the Stars have. Nils isn’t going anywhere given what Nill gave up for him. I agree he’s been fantastic with Suter and am one of the biggest advocates for him. However, I don’t think it’s a necessity to have Suter as his partner. He’s been good with Harley too, and Harley would move to the second pair if Tanev gets re-signed. Lindell and Bichsel can play on the 3rd pair because Bichsel is a RD even though he’s a left shot.
      2) Faksa and Dadonov are both desirable for teams trying to hit the cap floor. A mid-season trade made no sense for either of them, but the offseason would be no problem with each of them having a year left on their deals.
Ultimately, the Stars have options with the direction they want to go. I personally think keeping Tanev and Duchene is essential for future success, but I’d be okay letting them go if we can find quality replacements for less money.

Labanc might find a league minimum deal or something but he's definitely not key, Hoffman is probably done (MAYBE league minimum), Barbie the team couldn't find anybody to take him literally for free at the TDL once they'd used up their final retention slot though I could see something at a discount, Bailey and Carpenter are fringe 4th line/AHL players, and nobody went after MacDonald when he was available for free via waivers. Other than them you've got guys like Devin Cooley who is an AHL goalie and Lindblom who couldn't find an NHL spot on the worst team in the league, even when there were a ton of injuries.
As for RFAs, Kunin probably either takes his 3M QO to take him to UFA or signs for around the same as his current deal, maybe a bit less. Addison, Thrun, Bordeleau, Zadina, Coe, Peterson, Studnicka, and Makiniemi haven't done much to earn more than small raises and some could possibly not even receive a QO. I could see Emberson having earned a bit of a raise, but he hasn't been able to stay healthy so I don't see him getting a ton.
