Kubalík - You buy him a one way ticket to any destination of his choosing
Brännström - You trade his RFA rights for a 3rd or 4th round pick, or take a chance trading him for a similar RFA whose team has sorta “given up” on him, or where the guy simply doesn’t fit his team anymore.
Pinto - You hope to bridge him 2-3 years in the $4-5mil range.
Kelly - Extend all day every day.
Katchouk - I was a big fan of the Triple K line down the stretch. If he’s willing to sign a two way deal, I’d offer him one year. Worst case scenario, he’s a depth vet in Belleville for only one year. Best case scenario, the Triple K line continues to be an effective energy line. And when one of Katchouk, Kelly, Kasty slows down, or doesn’t look good, you swap in Crooker, Ostapchuk, or someone similar for a stretch. All that being said, I won’t be upset if he walks in free agency. As there will probably be better fourth line vet options. But I do like the chemistry he showed with Kelly and Kasty.
I agree, KKK line was great, pinto resign but I would sign Brannstrom. I think he’s such a good skater and if he could work on a few things he could be a real good defenseman

Boys, I really struggle with the coaching question. I don’t love Berube. Yes, he won a cup. And if he did that here I would be happy (d’uh). But…he seemed liked a DJ Smith who had more success. My impression (from the couch) was he was a “work hard” coach, not a “play with speed and possess the puck” coach.
My ideal is Rod the Bod. Of course, he isn’t coming here, but he has a team that plays in 5 man units, the press the puck on offense and defense and do everything with speed. I want that type of coach.
But I can’t tell you who that is. It just is t what I saw from St Louis with Berube.
Kubalik was dealt into a tough position, did his best trying to be a square peg trying to fit into a round hole. Thanks for trying and your service but the Sens need the roster position.
Braanstroms value lies in that he can play both sides and anywhere from #3-7 on the depth chart. I'd have no problem with him signing again for $2 mil. On the understanding he would also playing as a defensive winger at times.
Pinto situation just seemed weird this whole past off-season. For his experience and the Sens current cap structure, he would get Batherson numbers, so 5yr 5mil/ yr seems fair.
Kelly turned it around this season. Does he deserve $2mil/ 1yr seem too much for a PK bottom 6 winger.
Katchouk fit in well with Kastelic and Kelly. Do we need him with MacEwen around.....not to mention any AHL'er who could also do the same. League minimum contract....
The organization should try to remember what the loss of Watson not being on the roster cost. While MacEwen was signed, little chance of playing due to salary cap constraints.
While I'd like the Hunter bros to join the organization, I'm not positive Dale is the coach they require right now. Ideally, whoever is next has the Martin/ Alfredsson demeanor behind the bench. Also, would continue to expand the current defensive techniques and transition game. Sullivan might be the best bet if the Penguins let him go

Regarding the Belleville Sens game: I was watching the PWHL Ottawa game and while watching it I would check in on the leafs game and the BSens game. Each time I checked in on the Belleville game, within seconds EVERY time, David Foote is announcing “-and he scores!” I couldn’t believe it! That happened three times! Just sayin’!
I like Dino to do the Belleville game.
How many years have the Belleville Sens been around?? Their first playoff win… what a disgrace!!!

(Also they were in first place in 2020 when COVID wiped out their season…plus no AHL playoffs in 2021)
@@LockedOnSenators in 2020 my buddy’s team was in first place… not Belleville. Milwaukee Admirals. Have a look at who won the Louis A. R. Pieri Award.
Even if that’s true, who from that team has become an impact player on current roster? 1 maybe 2 if you count Norris.
I’m sure you guys know that Sens prospects are ranked either last or second last in the league. Should anyone be held accountable for that or do we just keep letting the same group draft and develop our players?
Don’t forget in 1927 the Sens won the cup. Who cares about 2020, that was 4 yrs ago.
I suppose you can say better late then never, I’d say whomever is developing these players and scouting for Ottawa has done a horrendous job.

I can’t tell you how many times I had to say that to people today and they swore they heard they clinched a spot. Some sportscaster misspoke I guess. They certainly made it easier on themselves but they certainly haven’t clinched it.

I'd argue that PINTO was the most disappointing player this year. A braindead stupid off season (gambling) gets him suspended for 41 games ................... I mean how much more disappointing can you get?
Really? We could not have afforded him anyway. That’s how stupid PD was. There was no cap space left to sign the guy so it’s probably a good thing he got suspended.

Branny’s not a 5 or 6 D, those are your shutdown guys, not big enough he needs to be a 3,4 but not on this team!
Agreed! Never should no physical 5’7” D ever be in bottom pairing. His body type is a top 4 D in league except he isn’t a 3-4 guy in the NHL. He’s a AHL player at best.

The fact that Branny has such low value around the league shows how much GMs care about the damn corsi. You gotta get rid of him though, who cares what the value is. You don't carry guys like that along if you seriously want to be a playoff team. Not that Branny is all that bad, it's just the wrong fit and has been the wrong fit for a while.
