Saw REO SPEEDWAGON on the 1979 Nine Lives Tour. Unbelievable show! Gary and Bruce were on fire. The whole band was! Very sad that one individual can destroy something so great. Bruce is an amazing bassist & singer. He can hold his own with anybody. A true class act! Keep rocking Brucester!!!

Paul Simon has never really stopped exploring new ways to express himself. Constant change. His latest, Seven Psalms (2023), is yet another change of direction.

They both were full of ego. They are flawed people. There was a lot going on. Arty's did movies Paul was jealous at the time. There is a ton of blame to share. I love Simmon and Garfunkel if they are Rock then that explains the weirdness of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 😂

Stopped being a fan when fame brought out the REAL person. The music sucked, REO was now considered a pop band kinda just like SYX, Foreigner, etc. I had so much hope for them, a big shame.

I think REO could have used a better vocalist from day one. Kevin was never great in my opinion. Gary and the band made the music worthy, not Kevin. For me, to hear the rest of the band, you had to tolerate Kevin. It is the same way for Dream Theater.

Kevin is a narcissist. He’s been causing friction in the band for years. That’s why NEAL the longtime keyboard is an original member retired early. Gary Rich had his own personal problems, but wasn’t getting along with Kevin either. Kevin wanted the spotlight all to himself. He said nasty things like Bruce couldn’t stand up straight completely and the fans wouldn’t wanna see that. It all came down to money. He wanted to keep more of the money from touring that Bruce would be entitled to get. Now he can just pay the musicians in the band as hired hands . He wanted to take the REO Speedwagon name with him without Bruce in the band then Bruce and NEAL wouldn’t get any of the money from Kevin touring with the official name of REO Speedwagon. Glad they voted against him as 1/3 owners in the band. The January 25 date for Kevinbuild as “former lead singer songwriter of REO Speedwagon” is selling poorly that’s why he jumped onto that tour with Don Felder and STYX. They just should’ve had a farewell tour. It could’ve made good money and sold out shows.

You feel the bass guitar more than you hear it

Welcome back Dave. Good to see you. I wonder where you went. Good about Art Garfunkel and Paul Simon making up. Yes they had lunch together and talked and seem to patch things up. I doubt they’ll ever record any music together or perform together either. Maybe for a charity event that might do a few songs together . But you’ll never see Simon & Garfunkel together again for a concert not even a one off. Paul Simon has lost too much hearing in one of his ears. Art Garfunkel looks more frail now than he did when I saw him in 2019 in concert I have to pick up the new Garfunkel and Garfunkel father and son album. It’s probably pretty good and one of the last things Art Garfunkel will do as a performer. Paul Simon might put out one more record because he’s adapted his hearing loss to where he can hear well enough to perform and record. I was glad to see them in 2004 for the old friends tour they even brought out the Everly Brothers. They toured again in 2008 and I missed them somehow then art lost his voice in 2010. Paul got angry at Garfunkel for saying something not nice in an interview at some point in 2015. Too bad they weren’t able to patch things up back in 2010 or so instead of 2024. If they had patched things up, they might’ve done a few more concerts together when they were younger back 15 or 12 years ago.

That's a shame to hear. I always enjoyed that song. It's sad to see these people passing away.

Nice to have you back. I've been revisiting America music and how it holds up 50 years later.

I'm sorry. Apologize? Poor Paul, he tries his best but can't even begin to comprehend. Life is beautiful and rare. You don't need anything to confirm that. Art is sharing that with you, and with us all. Let it lift you up and take you where nothing can ever hurt you again. Listen to the sound of his voice, listen...

Dave, by KC going out solo and playing the REO hits, Bruce & Neil do not get paid…because it’s not under the banner of REO. Now…Bruce & Neil could go out as REO with a new singer because they have the votes.

The track Ruby on the Morning is one i have listened to every decade since the initial release. And still listening to it. A beautiful ballad recorded without drums and with a killer flute solo. A really great duo. I want to say originally out of Kansas City. ❤

My first concert was in 1983. Quiet Riot opened for Iron Maiden. $ 13.50.

I have agree. They were so much better in the 80’s and 90’s. They do still put on a great show. Ive seen them about a dozen times in the past 40 years

Cronin basically forced Richrath out of the band. Not sure why anyone would be surprised when Cronin forces out another member. Bruce Hall is good bassist. Cronin is a narcissist period. One time years ago Cronin went on the Art Bell radio show and the guy sounded nuts or was smoking crack!

Kevin is such a liar. He caused this whole situation. He knew what he was doing.

It’s a shame Kevin decided to give Bruce the Dennis DeYoung treatment, I understand it’s the music business and the show must go on, but there’s no reason other than ego that he wouldn’t let Bruce back, and If you didn’t notice I didn’t say greed . Unless he’s completely clueless,Kevin has got to know he’s not going to be getting the same gigs he used to get with REO

The last interview I heard from him on eddie trunk he said when he decides to retire he isn't going to announce it he is just going to ride off into the wind

It takes quite a man to admit he was wrong and make a sincere apology. I've always thought that Simon had a valid point and a right to feel a bit used but he never should have broken up the act. Nothing he did after that rose to the same occasion and I'd say the same for Garfunkel. Massive success has killed so many groups. The soundtrack of the 1960s doesn't exist without S&G. It's good to hear that old friends made up. As far as getting back together--just stop it with that. Fans need to respect these people and be happy with what we have.

I have a few new band name suggestions for Kevin Cronin. REO Station-Wagon or REO Nursing Station.

Sorry the Restless Dreams doc put out by Simon trashed ART Garfunkel he is the one who should have apologized. Simon is an egomaniac who could never appreciate his partners role in their success.
