I have been playing this album a lot lately and love rediscovering this gem. Captured by the moment (tribute to MLK, Joplin , Morrison, Hendrix and more) She’s Mine is amazing and also love If only for the moment
I really love "Street Talk." Steve's voice is very beautiful and powerful and he sings with so much passion, emotion and feeling. I've been his fan since 1978 and feel so blessed that this one of a kind music legend is still sharing his golden voice and making more beautiful music. Thank you very much for taking the time to talk about this incredible album.
Steet Talk was my favorite solo album from Steve. I do really like Traces a lot. I think if someone's voice has a more mature sound... sometimes makes the music better. Jeff Lynne also has a more mature sound with age that actually works really well for him. Idk. As we age sometimes it's a benefit. Also, it's better than all the artists that are currently touring, most of which sound like cats in heat... you know, the ones in denial who need to retire (like at least ten years ago). Anyway, yes... thanks for taking time to talk about this album. 😊
Steve is a very savvy musician/businessman. He knew the sound he wanted and went for it. You're right, this sounds different from what he was doing (up to that point) with Journey; it totally amazes me that Neal said it sounded like a Journey album, but it really doesn't.
She's Mine was an excellent song that got to #21, and Strung Out was a solid rocker that hit #40, but it's a solid album all around. You can definitely hear the direction Steve was going in influenced Raised on Radio but still leaving room for the band to exert their considerable music muscle.
Steve Perry has always been my number one. Nobody like him. Foolish Heart was my favorite song of his. Just wished he could’ve gotten the recognition he deserved. I still keep hoping he will “roll the dice just one more time” with Journey. What a gift that would be to his fans and not to mention his legacy.
Remember the original end of the Foolish Heart video featured a holiday gathering of all the Journey members. You knew Street Talk’s time had come to an end.
‘Street Talk’ to this day in 2024 is included in my daily playlist. The entire album is pure gold. Steve Perry should be nominated for Kennedy Center Honors. He is so much more than an amazing singer, songwriter.
She's mine is my favorite track from that album. Love Steve's po werful vocals.
From start to finish, Street Talk is a great album. Wonderfully written produced and performed.

Dave love your videos
Amen! Street Talk is a great, great album. Very soulful, definitely a different vibe than Journey.

She's Mine was actually on the radio? I never knew that.

Great stuff Dave. I have a copy signed by Waddy Watchtel. Pretty iconic lead on Oh Sherrie. Thanks for doing what you do.

@MetalheadPete I personally prefer FLOSM over Street Talk.
