I have see most of the people you are talking about. I have no desire to overpay to see someone who is out past their bedtime. It is not worth what they are asking.
The power of “NO” (I won’t buy tickets) is so underrated 🤦♂️. No one’s holding a gun to people’s head to support these declining acts. Almost laughable that people go for this stuff…
Narcissism and musicians go hand in hand. They also are notoriously bad with finances. So to see the "look at me for money" tours year after year is no surprise.
So true. They are terrible at finance. When you squander money on mansions and exotic cars and models. These things come with maintenance-staff-taxes and insurance that can eat you alive. We’re also seeing aging movie stars going back to work because they are going broke with all the overhead to maintain a life style.
You forgot AC/DC.. .They're kicking off their tour in my city.. They call it the Power Up tour, they should call it the 'Pony up' tour, instead (yes, I'm old, too!) Because that's what you'll need to do for those ticket prices.. Even the nosebleeds were just above @200!!!!!
200 bucks for nosebleeds NO THANKS. i'll just stay home. the concert experience is a JOKE anymore. just a bunch of phony people wanting to do selfies every 5 secs. and hey lets all hold our phones up and record something that we will NEVER watch again. ughhhh
The reason you are seeing these guys still touring or going back out is because no one buys music anymore. The ONLY way to make any type of living from music is to tour. The only ones that killed the music industry is staring at you in the mirror. People wanted to be able to download music for free so here we are a couple decades later. The music industry as it was is dead. There are no real music Label's as it use to be anymore. the only musicians that get any type of support and promotes people are the generated fake musicians who operate all through some type of pitch altering equipment to mask their inabilities. If they look good then they will fake it. You have to eat! So you have to go out and tour to make a living to pay for your bills.
I'm WAY past the point of spending HUNDREDS or more on tickets than get gouged for drinks and such inside. and have to deal with all the muh nostalgia folks who wanna do selfies every 5 secs. i'd just as soon stay home and throw on the bluetooth speaker on spotify.
Think I've seen every artist i ever wanted to, but Kansas in the 80s with Steve Walsh would have been a great one to see. In The Spirit of Things was such an amazing concept record. And I missed an opportunity to see INXS on the Kick Tour in 88....Definitely regret that one 😢
This year I saw Rick Springfield, Richard Marx (he's funny, sounds great, but politically we disagree and I have gotten into it with him on Instagram), Loverboy and Sammy Hagar on the Best of Both Worlds Tour and Satriani was amazing! All were great concerts and Hagar was a bucket list moment. I too don't travel for personal reasons they have to be someone I really want to see otherwise I pass like Ringo who played close but I passed.
Good Lord; I just turned 70 & I'm so damn sore & worn out, that sitting several hours through a concert by other geriatrics sounds like torture. Lucky for me, I grew up near Detroit in the sixties & seventies & got my fill of the good stuff back then. Now have a fine stereo system & no neighbors. So we can raise the roof any time. Confession; we live in thhe middle of nowhere Ozarks & the Rolling Stones had a concert not too far away this summer & I briefly considered it. Then I twisted up a fat one & put on Sphonlge at Red rocks...................
So glad I found your new channel (if it is in fact new). It seems it's just all for nostalgia's sake these days with these aging bands. I agree, ticket prices are out of this world.
Paul McCartney, almost 80 years old at the time, was the headliner on the Glastonbury festival a few years ago. Why? Cause he still sells tickets like hotcakes.
Maybe, for some of us, there are 2-3 bands that we'd go see if they were in our town just because we love them. I have a couple (DD & NO) but they still (mostly) have the goods (mostly). That said, I get it. Still, if there are fans willing to come out and see them perform, who am I to tell them not to.
Primarily "casino" tours and smaller venues, although there are some playing larger venues. Personally, I would rather drive 30 miles to see George Thorogood and the Destroyers for $50 than 100+ miles to see Billy Joel and Stevie Nicks for $250+ at a football stadium.
im not a huge fan of reo but a few years back i went to a concert they opened, and the second act couldn't play so they did a second set they did a good job 2 hrs straight no complaints
I can appreciate this. I think most of these artists need to retire, including ones that I’ve always loved. But most still enjoy playing and as long as people keep buying tickets it becomes win/win for them. Some need the money, but some just want to keep playing.
As many albums these guys sold back in the day, they should be chilling on a beach somewhere. But many of them blew their money years ago. It's sad, but they have no choice but to tour. I have zero interest in any of those bands you listed... Except for Toto. I'm a huge Steve Lukather fan, and Toto still sounds amazing.
I was disappointed with Elvis Costello’s last tour , Many of the songs were played off tempo because he said this is how they should have been done originally ? Long slow and drawn out . Only a few tunes were recognizable towards the end of the show ?? His stuff should always be played up tempo !
Not to nitpick because this is a great video but D&C said they would stop touring not that they would never play again. They left the door open for things like the sphere and a few summer festivals. But whatever, not a huge issue lol. Thanks again for the great videos.
Old rockers have killed rock music by refusing to go away and giving us a bunch of wig wearing, lip synching drama queens in return for overpriced tickets. I'm 63 and decided last year I'm done with "live" music from geriatric ex-rockers.
Everyone has opinions but I don't think they have killed it. They are keeping the music alive for most of current music doesn't have the longevity as all the classic rock still does. That is my opinion and you got to purchase tickets immediately and directly from the source or they are pricey. Eventually we all have to stop.
I think this would be cool and sure get a bang for the buck. I also don't think Toto is truly yacht rock. Yes they did play on all those records, and a few of their songs fit the mold but they have a lot of other material....at least one or 2 of the band played on all those ' yacht records' Check credits, but I saw Toto in Europe this summer and it was really good and rocked hard , yes a few ballads and Georgy and all but over all.Otherwise its like a top 40 radio station in 1979-83. Rumor is they are all friends laughing about the yacht rock stuff and said lets do it and cash in. Lets see.
I have see most of the people you are talking about. I have no desire to overpay to see someone who is out past their bedtime. It is not worth what they are asking.
They live too good. They need the money to maintain their lifestyle.
REO Stationwagon
stalewagon
The family Truckster
Good to have you back, Dave.
I hear you Dave! After seeing all the great bands in their prime, it is hard to pay a fortune for something that will break my heart!?
The power of “NO” (I won’t buy tickets) is so underrated 🤦♂️. No one’s holding a gun to people’s head to support these declining acts. Almost laughable that people go for this stuff…
I wouldn't go to any concerts at all, I prefer to remember the greats as they were.
If they still Rock they Rock. Ringo Starr still rocks and puts on a very good show! It was one of the best concerts I went to.
When its your passion you just keep playing you enjoy it play as long as you can .
They need money
A little of both.
So glad to see you back on YT!
Me too 👍
I wonder if KISS will ever get back together, and tour some more.....
Said no one ever!
That is...
Unless they need some more money!!!
As for Ringo, he hardly does anything on stage. Plays very basic beats, does some singing and that's it.
I am surprised the concerts aren’t at 2 o’clock in the afternoon lol
I'm 55... American male... guitarist/singer... grew up on Classic Rock... not interested in seeing many of these aging bands...
If Toto did something in a small venue near San Francisco I might go see
Hold the line
I 'd go see 'em in SF too

It is OK to call it a day. Go out or end up like Frankie Valli.
You forgot AC/DC.. .They're kicking off their tour in my city..

Everybody's getting their last licks
REO Slow Wagon ... LOL 😀
Dave i am cracking up you missed your calling on the comedy side, very well said on all parts..funny shit!!!
The Senior Circuit 😂

Steve Lukather and Colin Hay have both been with Ringo's All-Starr Band. I suppose that it's no surprise that Toto would tour with Men at Work.
Unfortunately if you’re at the age of the musicians you can’t afford to go see them the tickets are outrageous unfortunately
They won’t get a dime $ out of me!

@Wizardboots - I saw a yt video of Kansas, in Florida? at the start of Jan. 2024, it was pretty good
Ringo claims it’s the blueberries, that do the trick.
My first concert was in 1983. Quiet Riot opened for Iron Maiden. $ 13.50.
You bring the truth! Glad your back
Ive never been a REO Speedwagon fan but they were fantastic live.
Recently?
This year I saw Rick Springfield, Richard Marx (he's funny, sounds great, but politically we disagree and I have gotten into it with him on Instagram), Loverboy and Sammy Hagar on the Best of Both Worlds Tour and Satriani was amazing! There's a good one coming to Tampa. Al Stewart with Livingston Taylor opening. I had no idea Al Stewart was still alive. Lots of good songs.
I am on the fence about that show. I love Al Stewart but he put out a live album recently and he didn’t so much sing his songs as talk through them.
Good Lord; I just turned 70 & I'm so damn sore & worn out, that sitting several hours through a concert by other geriatrics sounds like torture.

We could flip the script and have Dennis De Young going out on tour with REO Speedwagon hehe
IT looks like a bad guy from Sin City movie
I totally agree with you. I would love to see Steve Vai join the Best of Both Worlds tour a long with Sammy Hagar and his band.
Still love Ian Astbury voice and the Cult, they rock!
On the Kansas thing...John Elefonte did a fantastic job and sang as well as Walsh iMHO. Vinyl Confessions album being one of their best.
Deep Purple, that's it.
Fine with me I hope they all can do it as long as they can
I would go and see Elvis Costello. The old stuff he did was pretty good. You're right, Ringo never seems to age.
AC/DC is on my bucket list ..
IRON MAIDEN is still ridiculously great in concert.. they are serious musicians no drinking nothing
Paul McCartney, almost 80 years old at the time, was the headliner on the Glastonbury festival a few years ago. Why? Cause he still sells tickets like hotcakes.

Dead and company already did a residency at the Sphere and it was hugely successful Incredible show.
It's all about the $$$. That's why they kick long standing members out.
the last ride of the old farts tour ( fill in blanks )
I'm a gigging musician who thankfully outgrew "classic rock" long ago.
Did you start a new RUclips channel harmless Dave? I love your channel and the topics you talk about. Please keep up the great work.❤
Agree if people don't like what he has to say then go away.
Oh man dead & Company is going to the ball
Their fanbase is literally Dying Off , Gotta get the $$ While They can .
I hope Ringo adds a Boston date!!!
Dave, do you ever review original music from local artists?
They have been cashing in for years in case you missed it before.
Primarily "casino" tours and smaller venues, although there are some playing larger venues. Personally, I would rather drive 30 miles to see George Thorogood and the Destroyers for $50 than 100+ miles to see Billy Joel and Stevie Nicks for $250+ at a football stadium.
Billy Joel is playing with Rod Stewart at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh next summer.
im not a huge fan of reo but a few years back i went to a concert they opened, and the second act couldn't play so they did a second set they did a good job 2 hrs straight no complaints

colin hay is amazing and so is his story
Barry Manilow I wouldn't mind going to see ..
I’d pay to see ACE Frehley solo, but not Gene.
I don't see that appeal of seeing geriatrics try to sing their own songs.
Your thumbnail pic looks like Rachel Maddow really let herself go.
As many albums these guys sold back in the day, they should be chilling on a beach somewhere. But many of them blew their money years ago. It's sad, but they have no choice but to tour. Go see Santana.
It's getting rough. Love the music buuuut...🤕
Not to nitpick because this is a great video but D&C said they would stop touring not that they would never play again. They left the door open for things like the sphere and a few summer festivals. But whatever, not a huge issue lol. Thanks again for the great videos.
I just can't with these geriatric artists still trying to be relevant. I have a cut off point and these are all well past it.
Best years of music. P Diddy not so much.
Like the eagles. Elton john.
What choice do people have, rap,Taylor swift or many of the other crap act’s that can’t play instruments and use voice enhancement machines
Don Felder, I like. But I really dislike him using auto-tune. He uses it on every live show.
Works for him
Not auto tune, it’s a prerecorded track he’s lip syncing to.
Old rockers have killed rock music by refusing to go away and giving us a bunch of wig wearing, lip synching drama queens in return for overpriced tickets. I'm 63 and decided last year I'm done with "live" music from geriatric ex-rockers.

Not worth seeing any of these, except Joan Jett.
Love,Jet
She lip-syncs. Never much of a talent.
Men at work, Christopher Cross, Toto? That combination doesn't work for me at all.
I think this would be cool and sure get a bang for the buck. I also don't think Toto is truly yacht rock. If I was president, I would make it illegal for anyone over 50 to play live rock concerts.🎸
What should they do? Do like the under 50 crowd and lip synch with thier laptops?
