Nice to see you back, Dave!! But, where is the mustache?? Thanks for the tip on King of the World--I will have to check out these guys!! Great old-school blues-rock from an obscure international band ? Right up my alley!!

Don Henley. At an Eagles concert. With Felder on lead guitar.

Speaking of Styx: if DDY is not singing lead, they're a "legally authorized tribute act" (IMO, of course). I have been to 4 DDY solo shows. I have yet to attend a performance from the "rock & roll reprobates" calling themselves Styx.

Karaoke is a good description of these concerts that old geezers overpay to see bands that either aren't legitimate or are so far past their prime they sound like crap. Why not buy a good stereo system instead and listen to the original CDs or LPs? I also don't want to hear Felder or Shaw sing Hotel California and I say this as someone who likes both of them a lot. Not sure if you thought of this, but you make a good argument for going to see a good tribute band who sometimes have a singer that sounds incredibly close to the original. I've seen quite a few Eagles and Fleetwood Mac tribute bands in Florida alone over the last 10 years. Some had excellent singers though Henley is the toughest one to match vocally though still better than Felder. One of the FM bands had a terrific singer that could do Stevie Nicks better than Stevie can today. Can't remember the band name. I've also seen a Bob Seger tribute band with a lead singer that just nails Seger's look and voice circa 1978.

You mention all of those classic rock bands but another similar situation to those is Grand Funk Railroad. I don't know how old you are but you look 50ish so maybe you missed completely the band Grand Funk Railroad which was one of the biggest hard rock bands of the early 70's and still produced music into the early 80's, exactly started mid-69 to late '76 then disbanded but started up again 81-83 and from '96 - ' 98 had the biggest tour of that period. Anyway Don Brewer (the drummer) and the bass player managed to bamboozle the lead singer (Mark Farner) out of the band in 2000 and continue to tour as Grand Funk RAilroad even though Farner wrote and sang the large majority of the songs. The current singer is Carl Max who had a cup o tea in 38 Special but is a poor substitute for Farner. OhWell! That's just my pet peeve, a band that I am into the most since late 69. Keep On Rockin'!

Hotel California??? Does Tommy Shaw sing it? Isn't Shaw Styx, Shaw/Blades & Damn Yankees? I have Don Felder's 2 CDs from 2019 & 2022 and they are great. I think Felder did a good run in Vegas too. Funny you should mention 'doobies'. I am a doobieless guy myself. pissed of a whole busload of people on a bus trip to see Zeppelin in 74 cuz I flicked a joint out the window when it was making the rounds. Get high on life I always told people. Keep On Rockin' - Just Call Me Rockin' Z!
